Do you make different bits for the tire buffer quick change chuck? Mine came with the carbide buffer wheel and the quick chuck is nice. Wondering if you make some drill bits for reaming out nail holes or some other bits for the quick change chuck. I didnt see any in a quick google search.

Napa has them in their tire service catalog.

Ya I saw them in one of this months flyers had a tire repair wall cabinet. Didnt try to look up the drills or reamers alone yet. Wish I had seen that wall cabinet deal before I bought most of the parts individually. Probably spent close to that 450 in stuff for plugging tires in the last week. I'll ask my napa guy monday to get me some part numbers. Thanks.

I own quite a few Astro tools and they have been used many, many times and never once let me down, especially the ball joint master set.

One request that you SHOULD make: a bi-directional OBDII scanner, preferably a 7" touchscreen or slightly larger. One that can program security keys AND tire pressure sensors.

Autel and Launch should be your targets. Put out a product that is slightly better and slightly cheaper and you will sell so many you will want to thank me later by giving me one.

Please do not, I just updated my Autel. :bounce:

Excited to see any new stuff astro releases via sema. BTW: I picked up an astro "die grinder" which I use as a cutoff wheel. Very impressed with the smoothness and trigger control. $35 on amazon, big thumbs up.

speaking of astro tools, I bought the heavy duty hub puller set a few months back and forgot about it. I just did the front 2 on my pick up beating the hell out of one side with a small gearwrench puller. $%^&$%^^ noticed the astro sitting in the cabinet when I was putting the other set away. lol

I usually have the opposite problem, I'll get a tool like a fluid evacuator and once it shows up think to myself "what can i use this on? Hey, the wife's car could use a transmission flush 30,000 miles early" :lol_hitti

Has anyone rebuilt a ASTRO nano yet? I have had mine for about 2 years and use it professionally and it laid down on me today while replacing a transmission. I love the gun and need it back up and running pretty quick. It is weak and sometimes just hisses.

I hope I don't need to for awhile. I was pulling a drivetrain and my 1/2" wouldn't fit. While scratching my head, I remembered I bought myself a Nano as a present 6 months earlier.
Yeah, it was still sitting in the box. :wtf:
Worked like a charm, I was impressed!

Chris has explained in the past that the vanes have little springs in the guides. You probably lost one and now it is preventing a good seal. Take them out and it will work fine or get some new ones if you really want to do a complete rebuild.

I assime all I have to do is pull the four Allen head bolts on the rear to get to the vanes, I have actually never been in an impact before. And am I removing all of the springs or the offending ones

Wanted to share my tool story. I bought an APT air nibbler more than a couple years ago from a dealer. It sat in my tool box in the original box quite a while, pulled it out and nibbled away on a sheet metal project I was working on. Maybe 6 months later, I used it again on a piece of sheet metal and it broke. I called APT customer service, and was told the tool had been discontinued. To bad so sad for your luck was the short story. Since I have a small machine shop in the garage I called back and asked to talk to an engineer to find out what the part that broke was made of, and the heat treatment. The engineer got me the info I seeking, he was very helpful. Next, I asked if the new style head would fit on my older model motor, he said it would. I was going to just bite the bullet and buy a new head, but he said no, you don't need to do that, I will just send you a new unit. I was floored, as I knew the tool was way out of warranty, and since the parts were no longer available I would have to **** it up. The new tool is way improved and stronger than the one I purchased. This kind of customer service is almost non existent these days. In today's world where customers aren't valued, well APT is here to change that, and I appreciate that. Can't say enough about them, would recommend them to anyone in the market for any tool they sell.

Quick note about a few Astro items I recently bought. A while back I bought the 3082 0-60psi tire inflator and was super stoked on it. I needed higher pressure for my truck tires and airbags so I ordered the 3083 0-160psi inflator and wow what a let down. This thing looks like every other low budget import junk you buy at HF. Wish the two were the same because the 3082 is great and I’d love it if there was a higher pressure matching tool.

I purchased a set of AP pinless universal impact sockets (3/8” metric 78344) but I’m not that stoked on them. I have a set of Sunex pinned universals to compare and like them better than the pinless. I did lube the 10mm AP with some white lithium grease and spun it at max angle on my M12 stubby impact for about a minute to break it in before comparing. My Sunex set is also brand new and I didn’t lube it or do any break in. The Sunex works at a steeper angle, is slightly shorter, the socket head is slightly smaller, and it runs smoother at max angle. I had high hopes for the pinless, especially being smooth at angle, but at this point they are going back to Amazon. They seem well made and would do the job, but the Sunex seem more refined even though they are pinned. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

My 40SLMAX light has developed an issue. It will not light up unless it is plugged into an outlet. Also, the charge light does not light up when it is plugged in (to indicate that the battery is charging), but will turn red when the dial is turned on approximately 50% when plugged in.

Any ideas?

3082 is just the low pressure version of our long standing 3081. You need a 3081. 3083 is more for the DIY market.

When doing market research and sending field samples of these pinless sockets to shops, we all got the same advice. Avoid the "floppy" socket effect you get after using a universal impact for a few months. This is achieved via a higher tension spring internally, which leads to more stiffness out of the box but a worn in yet not floppy feel down the road.

We can look more into an intermediate spring option, but the few shops still using these around 1 year in now report preferring them over their other socket's we've made prototypes of with less spring tension.

Sounds like a dead battery cell, send me your address and I'll ship you a replacement.

I also am having a strange issue with one of the lights. I have a 40SL that I've used for at least 3 years that works great. I bought a 65SL that's been working fine up until a couple months ago. The charging light comes on, and seems to take a charge (I guess?) but it just won't light up. I ran it dead and since then, a couple months back, she's DOA. the 40SL is keeping on trucking though. So I'm not sure what the dealio is.

You might consider the 3018 digital inflator, love mine, had it since at least 2016, had to replace the batteries once. 1 size fits all, super easy to read.

Damn I just got the 7581 metric tap kit from the previous Woot sale and it's way nicer and more involved than I thought

I like the idea of the lever/handle/switch on the "wrench"

One thing: even though I realize the use was envisioned as ham-fisted techs, the tap holders should be center drilled on the backside for use with a spring-loaded tap guide in a mill or DP

Thanks for your response. I wish I had found the 3081 as I really do like the 3082 I already have.
As for digital tire inflators........ nah, no thanks. Just personal preference

Last night I found myself working on my wife's car in the dark. After fumbling around while trying to hold a flashlight, tools, and the replacement part all at the same time, I thought to myself, "What the heck am I doing?! I need that awesome LED light that I won on Garage Journal. I love that thing!"

Anyway, please consider this to be a friendly and very well deserved thread bump. Back in August of 2018, I was one of the lucky winners in your 65SL giveaway. I still use the light all the time, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Was there a direct replacement for 216QL? Just came across an old listing and thought it would be handy only to discover they are discontinued.

I purchased an Astro 3018 tire inflator roughly two years ago and the overmolding around the gauge has become brittle and started to tear. Really not a big deal in itself, but it's causing my battery door to become dislodged cutting my display off at inconvenient times. Is this molding replaceable at all?

Why was the Astro 78730 lug nut socket set discontinued? I'm asking because I was going to purchase a similar design and was wondering if there was an inherent issue.

Was really struggling with some E18 brake caliper bolts this weekend...

Please please make stubby etorx for us poor folks that need to work on euro cars.

Also long zero offset etorx wrenches would be nice. Like my VIM set but can sometimes use more leverage and half the time end up using them as slugging wrenches because they are too short.

An E18 in 3/8 drive would also look nice on my nano.
