As a "side project" I'm investigating installing a mini-split rather than the radiant. Do I still want radiant? Yes - but for a lot of reasons I'm holding off on that. When I'm done with the second floor I want to move onto the HVAC portion of this build and I'm leaning towards putting in a mini split as it will help during the hottest days of the year, and might be sufficient for heating as well.

This is a tough one for me - this past summer I was in the barn most every other day, and early on in the spring I was 3D printing stuff every day. With the addition of a dehumidifier last year, the only issue I had this summer were some uncomfortably hot days - it's no longer too humid inside.

Here's my post, angling for some advice (do/don't): https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/mini-split-sizing-questions.503914/

Second floor is "done". I have a bit of cleanup in a few areas, but more or less it is done! Such a strange but welcome feeling to have a full and open floor.*

Not sure where I move on from here - I want to prep for the mini-split, but with the Inflation Reduction Act there are heat pump credits that might be actionable starting Jan 1st (unclear if a mini-split is considered a heat pump), otherwise there's an existing $300 credit for installing a mini-split. Guidelines haven't been posted, and I'm unsure if the credit can be used for an auxiliary structure.

I want to do some soil grading, but it's been raining every other day, and I'm concerned about how long it will take me and I don't want to be doing this in cold weather (ie, December). It'll just be me - cannot afford to hire out the work - and I'm about spent when it comes to moving soil at this point.

There is electrical - I need to put in wall outlets, ceiling boxes for ceiling fans (one for a vintage fan I plan on restoring), lighting circuits (not sure where to put lighting), hook my floodlights back up.

Ultimately I'll do something, just have to decide.

*I miss the open floor plan just a bit :ROFLMAO:
