That is a labor of love for sure. So that said you paint it what you like. I have restored a bunch of cars in concours classes. I have sold a bunch as well. I tend to think of what a future buyer would be attracted too. I think that car deserves a period correct color. Personally I would not do a blue. I would do a british racing green. It would look period correct till you lift the hood. I also think the resale value would be better. I would also do a camel or dark tan tone interior ( look at Bmw swatches from 98 for something unique, but classy. Something to be said for a sleeper style resto mod. I tend to flip the cars but have had a couple for 25+ years. So I get building something just for you. I have 67 GT500 that I painted white and blue, I hated lime green, but that move de-values the car by about $30k. Yours is a total street rod, so way different, but still like the retro color + BRG is just plain classy on a car like that.

I have owned the car since 1971 and it was originally MG green and then repainted a dark metallic green from some 70's GM car. While the green fits the car, I'm done with green. I like the look of the right color red like Ferrari Corsa Rossa but that attracts more attention that I want and makes the gaps more visible. I like some of the muted greens and blue metallics on newer cars but they aren't right for a small roadster. Silver is boring. I like the darker pure blue metallics and they will show off the brightwork well and I may even put a couple silver Shelby stripes on the hood and deck lid if it looks like it needs it. The only thing I don't like about darker colors is that they **** up all the light in the engine compartment and underneath so it's difficult to see the detail in the work so black is out as well as the really dark blues.

Well, after saying that I'm absolutely done with green I see this new Mini Cooper on the street by work today and I may be changing my mind. It is the perfect modern metallic interpretation of the old British Racing Green - the original BRG wasn't really that good looking a color. I also agree that the camel shade interior looks killer with this green and it is dark enough that the brightwork will show off well. I will have to repaint the engine though.

This is a great thread! I'm in the same boat, considering blue paint for my 1950 Ford. It was originally a solid blue, but I'm looking at many of the same colors mentioned in this thread.

I want something that pops, but I won't be sick of it in a few years. I think I found the perfect color (for me, anyway): 2012 Kia Optima Corsa Blue - code 4HO:

Today marks the 15th year of owning my 97 Viper GTS. The Viper blue is a gorgeous today as it was when I bought this car in 1997. I'm taking this out for spin this afternoon.

What make/model of car are you painting blue?

Joe

My first post on GJ here. Cannot resist this thread my name. This is my baby on Route 66 in Chandler, Oklahoma. Color is Windveil Blue and it plays with all sorts of light. This pic isnt staged after four hours of claybar and Collinite. I left Joplin, MO early in the morning, pulled off the road and snapped this pic. It isnt everyone's favorite blue, but its perfect for me.

Jim:I would suggest Dark Blue Green Metallic a Caprice color from 1978. I had a Chevy Big 10 in that color special ordered and it was pretty sharp. Sorry no picture, tho.

Well, I stumbled on this thread while looking for paint for my Bronco.

Came across this picture about a week ago, just when I thought I had picked my color..
