I have flexzilla on a wind up reel. I'm happy with it. Unrolled and rolls up good. A random kink here or there, but nothing compared every other garden hose I have ever used.

Glad I stumbled across this thread, even if it is an old one revived. I had an old hose (two 50' ones connected) that had lasted about 10+ years but I cannot remember where I purchased it. This past spring we were in Costco and I saw a 100' garden hose that very clearly stated "light weight and guaranteed NOT to kink". That is total BS. Kinks like a ***** and is heavy as hell. I am about done with it and want to replace it.

Looks like the Craftsman hoses are the way to go by all of the positive comments.

Mike.

At my house I've had a run-of-the-mill green garden hose for the past 7 years and it's lasted longer than I expected. I believe it's a Neverkink hose from Home Depot and despite what its name implies it does kink, albeit less often than the average hose. I have a very small yard so I rarely unroll more than the first 30' of the hose and the rest has remained on the hose reel since the day I bought it. I've had to chop off a few feet from the end a couple of times and install a replacement connector but other than that it's held up pretty well.

I have a few of the craftsman rubber hoses and like them. They are heavy, they do kink some, and they turn your hands black, but I'd still buy them again, better than anything else that I've tried.

I don't like using the heavy 5/8" or 3/4" dia. hoses. They are too heavy to move around the yard and are difficult to wind on your standard hose reel. Bigger and heavy doesn't make sense in a garden hose.

I switched to a 1/2" light weight hose. The water volume is more than sufficient to wash a car or water the lawn or flowers. It is lighter in weight and easy to wind and pull around the yard.

Don't laugh - but these higher quality 'expanding hoses' really work

I got tired of winding up the hose or tripping over it in the back yard because the wife left it out. With these expandable ones we just let all the water run, out, they shrink down and we put them in a little pot under the faucet

I like that.

The expanding hose is one of those great ideas that's been ruined by lousy execution. Nice to see someone finally building it right.

Next time I need to buy a hose, this one will be on the list.

Another vote for the black Craftsman rubber hoses: they last forever! As noted, they rub off on your hands.

Dramm appears to source a hose from the same manufacturer. They cost more than the Craftsman. They are available in multiple colors. My wife bought a purple one 4 years ago, and it is holding up well. The purple one does not rub off on your hands like the black Craftsman ones do. AND; STILL MADE IN USA!!!

I bought a new Craftsman garden hose last night and notice they now have a LIMITED warranty instead of a FULL warranty.

Whatever brand it is, rubber hoses are the best IMO.

That's the answer in a nutshell.

I've had a 100 ft rubber hose for many years. It's pretty much indestructible. I've gone through multiple nozzles, but the same hose just keeps on doing it's job.

X2 I have had 2 of the same ones for over 20 years. Never bring them in for the winter, I just let them drain as I roll them onto the reel. never had a single issue.

I have a black rubber goodyear hose that's gotta be going on 20 years old now and is still in like-new condition, even after ten years or so of being stored outdoors. Surprisingly enough, I have a cheap-o green hose that has sat outside in direct sunlight for the past nine years that is still in perfect shape too. It's just a hassle to use because the damn thing kinks up if you look at it the wrong way.

I bought a section of Flexzilla a few months ago. So far for the little that I have used it, I like it better than what I had been using.

Almost a year later and I'm still happy with the Flexzilla hose I bought. I just wish I would have bought a 75 footer rather than 50'.

Yes, another vote for the Craftsman black rubber hoses! I work them hard all summer with vehicle washing, watering, and boats. And in the winter, I use them for my snowmaking system as higher volume airines with assembled adapters so I can use 1" cam lock connectors for ease of use and to prevent freeze ups.

the only issue I've come across with commercial / contractor grade hose is the weight. Most of us don't have an issue with that. However, a smaller stature person may not appreciate dragging a 100' 5/8" hose full of water around her garden. (ie. my wife lol). I've also been debating the merits of building a custom garden hose with Horizon or just biting the bullet and sinking some irrigation line into the yard and adding risers at the garden beds.

Flex-Tech RTW Hose is great for gardening. It is heavy duty, yet still lightweight because it is thermoplastic and not rubber. Thermoplastic doesn't mark up your hands or the driveway like rubber. It is also extremely weather resistant. It is lead free as well so if your kids end up drinking out of it you don't have to worry about that. www.flextechhose.com One of their distributors is www.austinhose.com or www.rrproducts.com

I bought a pair of pants from Sears about 25 years ago and after one washing one leg was 4 inches shorter than the other leg. I went back and they would do nothing. I was a loyal Sears customer until then and I have not set foot in their stores since. No wonder they are going out of business.

I have a 100 ft blue Cman that I bought in 80, still works well and even got left out a bit it didn't need to. 3/4 will deliver a lot more water if it is an issue, not something you always really want though if the incoming service is limited.

25 years of yard work, all in AZ. This manufacturer of hoses, reels and fittings are top notch.

https://www.eleyhosereels.com/collections/garden-hoses/products/5-8-polyurethane-garden-hose

I've got their hose reel mounted to my wall in my garage and its a very nice unit. Cant really afford any of their products (it was a gift) but if their hose was made to the same standards as their hose reel I imagine its a good setup.

I would love to have their pressure washer hose reel but again, too much $$.

Funny this thread popped back up. I had purchased a couple of Cman 50' Premium hoses a few months back but didn't want to replace my POS Costco one until I was through dragging it through the dirt and goat head thorns and my yard was complete. I finally installed my new hoses onto my hose cart about a month ago now, right after I had my sod installed, and I really like it. Doesn't leak and feels like a good quality hose.

I hope to have 20+ years on it like many fellow members do but so far after only a month I would say it is the best hose I have had thus far.

I got a Flexzilla at the beginning of summer for one hose reel, not expecting much out of it but i also have a flexzilla air hose and like it. I like it so much i got another one for the front hose reel to replace the perfectly fine hose on there now. The current hose is very stiff so manuvering it around obstacles was a pita, it kinked and twisted easy all the while i rarely have these issue with the flexzilla. Time will tell.

After messing around with a bunch of cheap hoses, I went with the Never Kink brand across the board. These are the thick dark metallic gray ones with machined aluminum ends. They are a bit heavy, but have held up very well and still look like new.

I'm in the north, and had left hoses out over the winters (drained and detached from hose bib). UV rays will kill most hoses over time, and moisture freezing and thawing on them will eventually degrade the coating. Since I've started storing them in the shed, they last much longer.

+1 to that. I have a Flexzilla air hose/reel and absolutely love it. I decided to buy one of their 50' water hoses on Amazon, and it's equally as great. Very light weight, flexible, and no kinks. I liked it so much I bought another 150' (2 75' hoses) for my large rolling hose reel. I trashed 200' of commercial red rubber hose that gave me nothing but grief over the years....

The Flexzilla's are awesome, but man to they get dirty around here and look like **** in no time. Anything strong enough to clean them messes with the color. I wish they could find a solution for that, but I'm sure anything sufficiently glossy and thick would take away the flexibility.

Another vote for the CM "Best" hose. I bought mine 15 years ago on the clearance table for $6 (had a dented fitting). Mentioned it to the clerk and she handed me a new one! Doubtful that would happen nowadays.....

$100?? Only on Griots. Where the actual ridiculous price is, in and of itself, a 'feature' of the product.

Ive found this to be the best- you dont have to 'adjust the spray' pattern each time you turn it on and off- set it, then use the handle to turn on and off.

And...I can buy FIVE for one Griots scam.
