Ive used them all with varying results. Kresto works the best, any shop I worked in I was happy they had it. Fast orange works well too as does gojo (same junk really). At home I have lava soap and dawn and lava soap will get about 90% of stuff off. Ive also used permatex cherry hand cleaner, goop and other stuff. Borax works DAMN well but you still need to clean your hands again with everything.

The single best way to clean off your hands is to use whatever hand cleaner you like WITHOUT wetting your hands. Make the cleaner black from the dirt on your hands then use the hottest water you can stand.

But seriously: I wear gloves as much as I can.

I have a lot of free Gojo which does work well, but I prefer SBS 30 hand cream.

I normally just wipe my hands on whatever shirt my wife is wearing that day.

Otherwise, I like GoJo and a stiff-bristle fingernail brush.

Stoko Kresto for the win!

I have used it all, Gojo, Fast Orange, Goop, laundry detergent, laquer thinner, dish soap, and on and on. Nothing, I repeat, nothing worked as well as Stoko Kresto. Just one pump, add a little water, and it cleans the filthiest of hands.

Its water activated, so it works exceptionally well on already wet hands, something the citrus based cleaners do not.

I highly recommend this product.

^^^He's right!! Kresto is far superior to Gojo and many other brands.

99.9% sure that is what we have at work. Yes it gets my hands clean, but its no Zep cherry bomb.

Warsaw Rough & Ready is supposed to be really good according to a muffler shop owner that I talk to occasionally, for work. He says he's had several vendors come and put up dispensers in his shop, but keeps going back to the Rough & Ready, becasue it works the best.

Also with the Zep Reach Green.

Cleans real well, doesnt dry my hands out too bad, although I do use lotion regularly.

I also use a fingernail brush on my whole hands. Keeping the dead skin off makes your hands look and feel better any way.

If you're looking to get the grime out of your fingernails, wash a sink full of dishes using plain old Dawn dish soap.

I work in a truck body shop and the Stocko Kresto has my hands as clean as ever.

usually one or more will work.... sometimes a multifaceted attack (esp if diesel oil or antique machinery lube present)

good nail/finger brushes
lacquer thinner
o'reilly carb cleaner
lava green bar
original dawn
cleaning sinkful(s) of dirty pans
long, long hot shower

I also agree that the Zep Cherry bomb works really great. We have the Snap-on hand cleaner at work and it seems to work good, but it takes forever in rinsing it off to get that "greasy" feeling to go away.

I went through this years ago, then I got smarter and started wearing gloves all the time. Mechanix gloves for dealing with dusty/dirty/rusty parts, Microflex MidKnight MK-296-M for oil/grease/most mechanic work and heavy leather gloves for woodcutting and farm work. Even using lotion my hands would get really dry and irritated from how many times a day I needed to wash them. Gloves sound like more of a pain, but in reality it's so much nicer(at least for me).

Honestly, I just use hair shampoo, it smells good and it does not leave a ring in the sink and its cheap!! I can't stand the smell of Gojo,

I have GoJo, Fast Orange, Boraxo, Dawn, and Grime Boss wipes in my garage. I have also used Zep Cherry Bomb in my buddies shop.

For me, the Zep works the best, followed very close by the Grime Boss wipes. If Dawn had aggregate in it, it would work better than the other dedicated hand cleaners. The other cleaners (Gojo, Zep, Fast Orange, and Boraxo) leave a rather unpleasant feel and smell behind.

I'm thinking about trying to put a bowl of play sand by the sink and dab it with my wet hands and Dawn.

Hell yeah, Dawn with pumice and a nail brush.

Light switches at home. No matter how clean my hands seem, dirt and grease always come off my hands when I touch them.. then I catch heck...

Another vote for Zep Cherry Bomb.

As I get older, my skin can not tolerate any of the orange based hand cleaners. Way to harsh on the skin, and leads to painful irritation and cracking.

Cherry Bomb has noticeably more moisturizer in it and cleans really well, while being gentle to my skin.

We use something called Concentrated Magic hand cleaner at work. Comes from NY tech supply, I'm not sure who actually manufacturers it. It's the best stuff I've ever used and my hands don't crack.

i dont know the brand name but the stuff the cintas guy puts in the bathroom at work is damn good. its gritty and cleany(is that a word?) best used w/ a nail brush.

at home it depends on what i'm working on. as much as i like using my bare hands if i'm doing something really dirty/greasy i'll wear vinyl or latex gloves. or something heavy duty i'll wear gloves mechanix style or heavier depending on what i'm doing(cutting/grinding/polishing).
usually at home i'll just spray down my hands w/ spray9 and a shop rag, and when i go inside i'll scrub my **** beaters w/ lava bar soap and a nail brush.

My all around favorite in one product is kresto. At work they give us gojo supro......and its good, but mix the supro with gojo power gold and thats tough to beat. The power gold disolves better, and the supro has more scrubbing grit. Sometimes you need one or the other......sometimes both. Kresto is the best single product out there in my use. When I find worx powder at wal mart i buy it for home. Its good enough most days for home

zep green or zep cherry bomb are great. I suspect they are the same thing except cherry bomb smells super good. That is the first week it's in your shop... Eventually you'll get acclimated to it and won't be able to smell it anymore :(

Personally I like boraxo for at home. Not quite as easy as the goopy hand cleaners cause it's a powder, but works very well at removing very tough grime and keeps your hands soft.
