Hi CliftonBros89
I thought I would drop you a line to say how interesting your blog is. Although I am not from the farming community I can relate to the varied and multiple tasks that you guys do every day. I used to work on a farm as a kid to earn pocket money. Now semi retired. I am from the UK, in fact right in the centre of England in the county of Derbyshire in the Peak District National Park. Great countryside with plenty of arable and livestock farming. Not on your scale. Where do you get your energy from? Very long days and still find time to write this blog. I am still only on page 46 so have plenty of reading ahead.

Made a run to Cape on Thursday, down Route 3, surprised about the amount of seep water still sitting in fields. Lot of healthy weeds waist to shoulder high. Friday, had an interesting conversation with a "neighbor" of yours that lived on Kaskaskia Island 1993 flood and was in charge of medical evacuations for Randolph and Monroe counties.

It's weird how issues always arise when friends borrow stuff. Kinda makes them and you feel bad; the hub would have failed next time you used it but for some reason if you borrow something, despite best efforts to lube grease etc, that's when they choose to die.
Definitely lucky it didn't come off on the highway, hit and kill someone, and become a major issue.
That is true. Had it happened it would’ve definitely been when I was using it rather than dad. Because that’s the luck that I have.
That is absolutely true. We said the same thing. I’ve seen it happen with semi-truck wheels to someone before. It can be a huge problem going down the road. Another reason why taking time to look things over and inspect things is so important.
He bad thing is dad and my uncle use the trailer more than I do. They don’t always take the time to look things over. Plus, it’s a trailer each time you hook to it you think, “Well, I’m just making a quick trip down the road I can look at things next time.” But then that happens 10 more times.
Not to mention the damn manufacturer for the trailer put stupid chrome hub caps on this thing that won’t even allow you to check the air pressure in the tires with out taking a socket out to remove the dumb things each time. Needless to say the hub caps are being removed and staying off now. So when someone hooks to it they check the oil level in the hubs. Not take the lazy way out.
Agreed. I get when people don't care about company, borrowed, leased stuff. But I don't understand when people don't check over their own. You obviously do an exceptionally well job looking over your own -- it's a mechanic thing, my dad does the same.
Are the ears grouped on your tailgate by variety? If so, lot of damage on top variety. Hope you can avoid dock, yield and price bad enough without dock.

Made another trip to Cape today, saw several farms drilling wheat into fields not planted because of flood waters. Good luck to them!
Heading to central Illinois Wed/Thur to help Wife's 82 y/o Brother in law get equipment ready for fall harvest. Asked him if I needed to bring tools or anything? … Yes, bring your own bandaids LOL
Looks like you're going to be shelling corn next week.

Itching for harvest like the rest of the Ag world, but the only corn coming off is seed corn up here. Gonna be a bit before guys are rolling. I think our test farm is shooting for mid october? Then I get to go play with my software in real crop rather than simulated.

Since I cant make those seals, they look more than $29 worth. Also being for a deere, surprised it was under $50

Stepped in your footsteps Wednesday and ThursdayMoved 4 round bales from south farm to north farm. Set one for pasture feed and set 3 aside for next 2 weeks. Prepared combine, semi/trailer, dump cart, and 3 wagons. Air in 36 tires and 8 tubes of grease, ready to shell 180 acres starting Wednesday. Have a SAFE harvest!!
Have you found a way to reseal to the combine side of the multi coupler. I have 3 or 4 in my truck that want to fix. Lankota has seal kits for the header side I’m not sure of the price difference from Deere is .
