We have actually considered it, but have also heard that they will pick on the goats too??
We babysat a goat over the winter (owners spend December-May in Texas). They were together in the field without issue, but we did keep them in separate paddocks 90% of the time.
Our one donkeys is a gelding and is super mellow, the other is still intact and likes to start **** with the other animals.

Ok good to know. We have 9 goats. Of those, 2 are intact, 3 are wethers and 4 are females.

How does your donkey do around dogs? We have 4 dogs. 1 spayed female, 2 neutered males and 1 intact male. I kept one of my boys intact since two of my males are AKC registered 100% pure breds.

Knock on wood we haven't seen a coyote in several months. I needed up putting barb wire up on the fences around the field and that seems to have solved the issue.

We have some Donkeys in our hood. Even 1/4 mile away they are quite 'audible'. :)
Our horses and dogs aren't exactly quiet either though.

Luckily we have more road runners than coyotes.

We have a few neighbors that have them and go out about 8/9 or so, right after dark, it sounds like several are being murdered hahaha. They are very very loud buggers.

That is a de-feather-er lol. Dispatch the bird, dip it in boiling soapy water, put it in and 10/15 seconds tops all the feathers are off. They come out with literally 2 feathers left worst case. There are a bunch of rubber fingers inside and it spins like a washer. Salty brine all day and then off to the freezer.

A friend is getting their floors redone so I let them borrow a trailer to pack their furniture in. They called and said it was loaded so I ran over and picked it up to store until the work is done. Back in the garage like a glove.

Now off to jump in the pool with the kids! While I was gone grabbing the trailer it looks like little man raided my closet.....he's ready.

Where did you get your defeatherer. I saw one on youtube but it was way bigger. Yours looks very manageable.

Tractor Supply.

It's not huge, 3ft tall, 20" diameter, but it is pretty heavy. It has a 1.5hp motor under the tub. It's well build and fairly heavy duty. I have been impressed with it.

This morning we did 4 chickens. From kill to brine it was less than 2 hours.

Thank you, I'm not into plucking feathers, the birds that I have processed were skinless when I finished them, but it would be nice to have skin on also. Pat and I have talked more about it and I'm about ready to build a second coop.

I plan on adding a flight pen to the front.

Nice pen!

Here is our nesting box area. And then we have a pen that wraps around it. I had the shed dropped and then partitioned it into half coup / half storage and we keep the hay and stuff in there for the goats. Our birds all free range during the day and only get locked up at night. That pen is 60ft long x 20ft wide.

I have metal roof frames with metal roofing to weld on top of those legs.

The last picture is a little house I made out of free pallets for the goats.

Llamas are good for keeping coyotes at bay. We were losing calves 20 +years ago and bought our first llama for the cost that one calf would bring at market at the time. Haven't lost one to predation since then and we're on our second llama now. They don't go after dogs like a donkey will either.

Good to know. Thanks! How are they temperament wise?

Good eye lol. Yes, but it's fake. I move it around every few days. It helps keep the hawks honest. We still have a couple of huge hawks that live right at the edge of our property that circle daily but it keeps them from diving for the most part.

Switching gears for a day....getting roof panels ready to weld back on their legs so the animals have more shade. After we get them up I'll touch up all the paint I've ruined.

It depends on the individual animal and how much they are handled when they are young. The first one we couldn't get close to and he would spit if you got too close. We bought him with a halter and he wore it until it wore off of him.

The second one was handled often when young, so he will let you walk up and feed him by hand or pet him.

They're very interesting and always on guard. Both of them have always gone to the highest spot where they can see all of the cattle and anything approaching them.

I would love to add a hydraulic top link to my little John Deere. Pallet forks were by far one of the best investments I made for it as well. Shop looks great! Where are some pictures of this old Ford in your avatar?

I have the hydraulic ram that works the rear tilt too but it is in the process of being modify. Our old tractor was a little smaller and this tractor has large ball joints at all the connections so we are cutting off the brackets and rewelding them so they are wider and fit the new joint.

The Ford is a '67 F100 and it was sold to finance my upgrading the primary truck from a 2500 to a 3500. That was my wife's condition, had to make up the funds somehow.

Oh hydraulic top and tilt!! Such a convenient addition to a tractor!

Oh man that truck is awesome! Did you have the DJM dream beams up front? I've had a couple of Ford trucks with the twin i-beam suspension. My wife will require me to sell my current "daily driver" truck when I upgrade to a diesel truck. I have a 71 Dodge Sweptline and a 2013 Ram 1500. If the truck prices ever come back down I'll be replacing the 1500 with a 3500 as well, likely a dually though. Your 3500 is a beautiful rig!

We also added extra hydraulic ports in the front so we can operate a grapple bucket, auger, etc anything that requires 4 ports. Still searching for a grabble bucket and eventually something to sort rocks out of dirt which will be my favorite tool ever!!!

Yes, those are the DJM beams up front on the F100.

I've got a grapple for my little tractor. I am considering just welding some expanded metal to the teeth/frame for basically the same purpose. Mine is primarily used for tree work though.
