Never get involved in a land war in Asia.Actually, these are the three fundamental laws of the universe:
- When you're fixing something, your wife will tell you you're doing it wrong (and too slowly), even though she has no idea of how to do it herself and doesn't know which end of a hammer to use.
- Your cat will puke in the exact path you take to the bathroom at 2AM, so you get to step in it.
- Your BIL will ask to borrow some money, and then never pay you back.
Only slightly less well-known is, never go in against a sicilian when DEATH is on the line...Never get involved in a land war in Asia.
The front side with the flat fracture is the defect and first part that let go, the rear side with the angled fracture is the post failure break. The initial fracture was also in tension when you attempted to use them, and the second was combination of bending and tensile fracture.
I am retired metallurgical engineer, that metal had a defect. Just exchange for replacement.

It happens, even to the absolute best. They'll take care of you and that will be that.I wish I could say I was abusing the hell out of them, but I wasn’t. Just a defective pair.

Broke a set of snap on needle nose bending to small diameter steel rod. I broke a set of waterpump pliers similar to the above removing a NPT ******. Guessing a forging lap or some other defect. That is what warranty if for.Somehow I doubt it
Nonsense! He just needs a dab of JB weld on the ol' girl and she'll be right as rain.
“FORGING FAULT” !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That’s got to be a casting fault?
And put in the description, “just needs to be warrantied”.And then list it on eBay for more than list price
I think we’ve established by now that I don’t know anything about how stuff is made out of metal“FORGING FAULT” !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pliers,
with a few exceptions,
are usually forged,
not cast.
The exceptions are usually things like crimper dies, and Beryllium Copper and Bronze non-sparking tools.
Inconceivable!!!Only slightly less well-known is, never go in against a sicilian when DEATH is on the line...
Should beat him with it and tell him the same...i broke a snap on torque wrench once, the dealer told me, '***** to be you"
How did you manage to break a torque wrench?i broke a snap on torque wrench once, the dealer told me, '***** to be you"
You need upgrade jobs to MacDonald's. 3 hours there buy those pliers. Maybe the stated (by you) fact that you abuse your tools and use harbor freight contributes to the extremely low income? All's I'm gonna say I've I've been (ab)using my harbor freight ones for a decade and they haven't broken. And I didn't need to sign my paycheck over to the snap-on guy for 6 weeks.
Holy hell, man. Maybe you need to take a break from the internet for a couple days. It was a joke. You need upgrade jobs to MacDonald's. 3 hours there buy those pliers. Maybe the stated (by you) fact that you abuse your tools and use harbor freight contributes to the extremely low income?
At least OP gave us amusement of good discussion. I'm not impressed Snap-on pliers except Talon and diagonal cutters. Only drawer in my box not predominately SO. Proto, Channellock, Klein, Knipex, and many others make top tier pliers that compete and outcompete with Snap-on.
