I've been serching high and low for a Cantilever tool box thats anywhere from 18-22 inches wide to carry in my camper. Whats the best one out right now? I've been looking for a good used one at flea markets and such but coming up empty handed. I want a good one and I've looked at Snap-ON, Kennady,Waterloo. All seem to be made in China. Any opinions as to which one is best?

Snap-On UT22. Beta/Stahlwhille makes one too.

I saw the UT22 but it shows no open veiw of the box. The price looks good but I need to make sure it has some sort of deviders in the trays. It's built in Canada. (Thats close to China, Right? lol)

Anybody have an open veiw of it?

Griots has cantilever boxes. I am about ready to replace mine with a new box, which I have in reserve. My tool box has been in service since 2003.

Dawg!!!. Been looking for months

i wasnt even looking for another toolbox when i saw this one.
i keep a couple of smaller plastic toolboxes packed with supplies,ie: fuses, fuel line, hose clamps, hardware, electrical tape, tire plugs, duct tape, small gerase gun, RTV sealant, spare senders, switches, ect. in the back of my tow vehicle when i go wheeling.
i combined 2 boxes into just this one box.

and for $9 i couldnt go wong. :dunno:

There was a chap on here a couple of months ago who worked in the Kennedy factory and indicated that they had moved production of the cantilever box back to the USA. Just watch what you are buying.

I checked the Kennady website and it states they are built in the USA or " USA Built Quality" but anyway I purchaced the 22 inch version from ToolBoxesDirect for 169.00 shipped. More than I wanted to spend but it has a lifetime warranty (until the company goes under) and has great reveiws from some guys I know who use them in plant maintenence. I also ordered an Excel Cantilever unit that looks like Snap-Ons UT22 but this one is just over 18 inches. It wasnt but 33 dollars so I can use it in the house for all mu guitar repair stuff. Can't wait to get them

Yeah, I would check the "made in..." stamp. When Schwinn bicycles started having their stuff made in Taiwan back in the 80's they always used a badge saying "Schwinn Quality." If they were made in the USA the badge said, "Chicago."

Yes, all of the Kennedy boxes except for the roll aways and top boxes are now made by Homak in China, this includes the cantilever boxes. They have done an excellent job of copying them, the quality is superb, but yes, they are China made now.

Charles

Here is the link for a thread started a while ago on this subject which includes a post from a member who works at the Kennedy factory indicating that these boxes are (again) made in the USA.
