... installer was receiving delivery from Yellow freight and it was damaged.
I said NO and he did get it anyway.

He said few scratches he will touch up and button on control panel smashed.

Just wanted to vent...

What shoul one do when stuff comes damaged?

Don’t hesitate to report it to Bend Pak factory ASAP and have them address the issue.

I would be concerned that no structural damage was done before I took delivery of anything that was damaged in shipping. Remember it will be the only thing holding a two-ton vehicle over your head.

Nothing bad like that, it's just scratches from Fork Lift. Since installer received it even I said no - he will take responsibility for anything that wrong. But, again.. There is nothing wrong. Just scratches and panel damage that was done by fork.
He is contacting BendPak right now.

Depending on how bad the scratches are, I might deny installation, too.

Ask the guy if you get an scratched model, do you have to pay the same price? Lifts aren't cheap. You might as well get one in the proper condition.

That's what I was hoping you'd say... Call the CC company and dispute the charges if things don't go your way. That's what I had to do when I got my high lift doors installed...saved me $1300, but cost me months of agony...use as last resort.

Sorry to say it, but I've also had bad experience with asedeals, too.

If the installer accepted the shipment, it's probably on him. He's in the good by calling asedeals to get things resolved.

You can always call asedeals and tell them the story. If they're smart, they ship another one out since you paid by CC.

If they try to tell you they'll "fix" the scratches, you can bet it won't be just like the factory paint job.

Honestly, I'm not picky about stuff like this being scratched. It's car lift afterall. I will get it scratched during use.. As long as there is no damage to metal and it's properly touched-up - I'm good. Can't really blame asedeals here as they did not scratch it, Yellow Freight did. And last thing I want to do is to get into arguing about minor stuff as I want lift now and not in few month. Also, my time is expensive.

I didn't see it, may be it's not bad at all. For cover plate/buttons or whatever will need to be replaced - I will just keep 1/2 of installers fee and tell him that he will get it after finish everything.

He said that BendPak will take care of this small items as a warranty stuff.

It's kind of catch 22 for me. Hate it and can't really do anything smart. Just venting on a forum...

Bend-Pak includes a can of matching spray paint with all their lifts for just such issues. I had the safety release solenoid on my single post lift fail when I first set it up, they shipped out a replacement immediately upon calling them. So I'm sure they'll replace the damaged button.

Call Brian @ ASEDeals or Bend-Pak directly and they'll get everything fixed ASAP. Both have top notch customer service.

Today I've seen it. Personally I probably won't even pay attention to this. Button was smashed a little to the side and sticker was teared in 2 parts. No scratches.

On one approach ramp there is like 3 inch scratch and rubber on top of the same ramp have like 2-3 inch tear.

The real problem is that stock hydraulic hose will be not long enough to place panel where I wanted it to be. I told him to get hose ordered.

Anybody have any idea on how much hose should cost?

They need to order additional hydraulic hose to place control center in desired spot. Maybe Friday or next week it will be ready to go.

$550 for installation and delivery

I first thought about doing it myself but first problem was "how do I receive it?" "if I ship it to my house - it's $40 extra" and it need to be unloaded. When starting thinking about hours off job (I'm IT contractor), renting truck, finding somebody to help AND then installing it - I thought that 550 for taking delivery and installing really worth it.

I gave him $400 and will pay rest and hose cost after everything finished.

Total price for everything will be under $3500

my ceilings is 9ft high. If you look at last picture - there is raised portion (I did that) so I can lift sedans higher. On pictures car is not all way up

Lift goes up 72 inches, but I won't be able to do that with the car..

Yes, lift mounted to the floor. I didn't know about this site when did my garage. If/When I move to bigger house I will definitely mount it flush with a floor.

It's not really a problem as I will have weekend car which will be parked on a lift and traffic won't be huge there.

Katit - I have a SP-7X getting installed on Friday. I just had a scary thought that to use the lift it would have to be extended all the way (which would be too high for my ceilings), but after reading this post, I feel a lot better and see that it can be locked in positions lower than full height.

A couple of questions if you don't mind...

Does this lift require shop air? The isntaller thinks it does, but he hasn't installed the 7X before so he wasn't 100% sure. If it does, what does it use the air for?

For power, I had a 220 outlet installed when the house was being built. Will this work or does the lift need to be hard-wired?

From your pics above, it looks like you have a 2-bay garage. After the lift was installed, are you still able to use the second bay on a daily basis? Do you typically park a car on the lift?

BTW, I also have a '93 UrS4...any pictures of yours up on the lift?

Yep...a '96 A4 with the 12V engine along with a '93 UrS4 and a '90 Coupe Quattro.

Hey Scott, nice choice on the lift.
I 've had my 7X for 2 or 3 months now And I love it!
I did mine by flush mounting it in the floor, it and yes it takes shop air to release the safety locks. I used an air tank and mounted it on the inside of the control box, I Fill it to 100psi and I am good up to 4 or 5 releases. Here is a link to my install. Yes. And it uses air only for safety locks. In other words - there is no need for air when you lift car, bud you need it to lower car. You can manually unlock and lower, but thats not nice. I didn't know about this when ordered lift ether, glad I had compressor already. Any compressor will do, requirements minimal.

Power requirements for the lift minimal. It need to be hardwired (no plug), but I bought range cord and installed power outlet directly behind control panel (search my posts here about this)

Yes, I park on a lift and my wife parks in a right bay. I think it's temporary (also it's not hard to park on a lift) as I am getting weekend car.

BTW, I also have a '93 UrS4...any pictures of yours up on the lift?

It starts to lock when it reaches about 2-3 ft height and have 12 steps. I lock at 11th as it won't engage on 12th.

Lift has 2 platforms that connected with metal tube. Apparently this tube twists just a little due to the fact that outer ramp raises little slower under load.

You have access to entire undercarriage. In my case I can lift car all way up only when I park backwards and crossmember on a floor right on your way. I had to build plywood platforms to roll transmission jack.

It comes with 4 rubber pads that sit under the jackpoints on the car. You can kind of see them in KATIT's picture above.

They are adjustable in the sense that they are not attached to the lift, so you can put them wherever you want...they are literally blocks of rubber.

I agree. It's a lift. Obviously get the control panel replaced. But for scratches, who cares. The installers scratched mine a little and gave me some touch up paint, which was good enough for me.

Another tip on lift usage.

It's funny, but just now I had first FWD car on a lift. With my RWD cars - I had no problems dropping transmissions. With FWD with transverse mounted engine - front ramps really in a way of transmission jack.

Here is a tip: Approach ramps removable. It says so in instruction, but if you remove them - you can roll transmission jack under front of a car and have plenty space to do transmission jobs on those cars.

I really do like this lift now

ASE really takes care of the customer
I too had a problem with the shipper and they tried to cover it up.
evetently the truck overturned on the highway and my lift was somewhat crushed (1 sidepost was flattened. (driver tried to cover it up to make it unnoticeable)
ASE which is in the next town came and looked at it and within 3 days I had a new lift and they even paid to have it installed due to my trouble.

Hey guys with a SP-7X lifts... one question... mine only raises to 68" without the rubber blocks and maxed out to the last lock.. what do your lifts raise to?

I'm 6'3" and was counting on the 72"..

I figured that I like to work on a chair, so it's not an issue for me.
