Wondering if anyone can offer insight on this unusual 3/8" drive socket. Google search didn't turn up anything on the maker. Would this be for a specific make of carburetor?

well, if there's nothing about the maker there should at least be a ton of stuff online for Stromberg applications for that jet wrench.

It looks like a socket for the Trico windshield wiper motors. There were two sizes of that "Double D) head. Plomb made both sizes of these sockets.

Specifically, it looks like a Stromberg TMC42 oval jet socket. Note the second line of lettering in the first photo appears to say "CARB OVA..." Don't know who "B.P. CO." is.

T2409 sounds like a Carter part number. B.p. ? Have not run into that. Have a snapon and a herbrand version that are for stromberg carb jets all the way back to the 30s.

TMC42 is a Snap-on part number for one of the two Stromberg jet sockets in a vintage Stromberg carb kits. Stromberg, like Carter, had multiple suppliers.

It reads, "CARB DIV". See post #6.

I have a "socket" by the same manufacturer. My tool was used to adjust the metering jet on a 1954 Buick carburetor.

I was never able to find out anything about the company.

Here is a link to the thread on it: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=431485
That's helpful. So what company with the initials B.P. had a Carburetor Division? And what other divisions might such a company have had?

EDIT: Didn't Bendix, known for brakes, also get into carbs?

I'll take my best stab at BP. Buick Parts Co? Found a buick forum where part number t24924 is listed in a buick service manual as a factory tool for their stromberg carbs. However the other find I came across is a ebay listing for a Blue Point T24924 carb tool. Snap-mom also made a reference to that part number being made by blue point in a past GJ posting. Maybe blue point made a set of factory tools for buick a few years?

As always, I stand here simply agape at the font of information that flows through these pages, even for something as humble as a little socket!!

For a socket now for sale on eBay for $5.99 or best offer.

Z,
That T-24924 carb jet socket identified as Blue-Point on eBay is not marked Blue-Point. Not saying Snapmom is wrong about Blue-Point supplying sockets to whoever is selling these T-24924 carb jet sockets, but I have never seen Blue-Point abbreviated "B.P." before and the "Co." (it was a separate 'entity' associated with Snap-on's selling arm, Motor Tool Specialty Co. only very early) and the "CARB DIV." are even stranger. I like your Buick Parts Company theory a lot, though.

While it definitely looks like the double D carb adjusting tool I have except mine is attached to a thin flexible cable for easy access to the mixture screws, I would think that 3/8 drive is a bit excessive for carb adjustment screws.

Quoted from the website: bendixradiofoundation.com/hist_bendix.htm

1931 - "Bendix Products Corporation" organized to consolidate the manufacturing operations of Bendix Brake Company, Bendix Cowdrey Brake Tester, Inc. , Bendix Stromberg Carburetor Company, and the B-K Corporation.

1939 - "Bendix Products Corporation" changed to "Bendix Products Division."

There's your B.P. Co. right there, boys. Nice work, Jock!!

And yes, I am totally claiming dibs on the lead for this one! :)

Originally "Stromberg Motor Devices Co.", they were acquired by Bendix Corporation later on.
It would appear that the "Zenith" brand was European.

Hi outofbounds -

Resurrecting this thread. I can say with a fairly high certainty that T-24924 socket is for Stromberg main jets as I need one right now for my old WW series that I am rebuilding. Could I trouble you to put a micrometer on your socket and measure the width between the flats for me? I think it is nominal 0.25", but I would appreciate confirmation. I am planning to take a grinder to a 6-point deep-well socket and see if I can make a serviceable facsimile.

Bought this whole kit at a yard sale....a search of one of the socket numbers brought me here. Based on the above research I have no use for it. Would anyone be interested in it?
