I wonder if we bumped Taumac off, would the price of those boxes he painted sky rocket?

They probably would. I’m worth more dead than alive. A going joke with me and the wife is if something happens to me put me in a uniform and toss my *** over the fence at work. I’m then worth 2.5 times more on my life insurance policy.

I finally found the lighter weight Superlube grease to use on the Vidmars/Listas drawer bearings. This latest grease is a NGLI 0 viscosity rating. Typical grease is a 2.

The reason behind the effort to get this particular grease is to get the best operation of these drawer that I can. The regular #2 grease is just too heavy in my experience and you can feel the difference. There's recommendations of using 3in1 oil because it's a lite oil and permits easy and smooth operation of the drawers. I've used this also and it works fine. But I'm just overkill in a lot of things I do and with around 400 bearings to eventually clean and lube, I only want to do this once and have it last a long time. After researching and reading up on this, the synthetic grease won't dry out like regular grease and the grade 0 should cling to the bearings and still be low friction. The last round of cabinets I bought has a lite grease and the drawer action is incredibly smooth, this is what prompted me to find this grease.

690736c42ed4ebe8cc0d6974c459647a.jpg

The tube on the left is a #1 grade, but it didn't seem lite enough. The tube on the right is the #0 grade, which is quite a bit looser by feel.
f102c7825fb73dd5892c52f5ea4c9677.jpg

A side by side of the two grades.
c7e6e54ef8ab127ee56d5f536e79c4dc.jpg

I also called Vidmar and asked what they used, white lithium grease I was told. The Superlube is supposed to not attract dirt according to their specs. I guess time will tell.

I realize this effort may seem extreme, but I hardly have time to get this done now, much less later with removing loaded drawers to regrease the bearings.

I'll update how this works soon, I have a feeling there'll be a box I can try this out on.

Yes, these were mine for about two years, but I finally had to give in to shorties lusting of my Listas.
So these two green list as are on their way to Tallahassee as we speak, but I do have this ride with me going south as we speak.
4bd30cd6500cb48f3471bd1cf8a1e15a.jpg
This trade knocks me down one cabinet but I’ll still have the same amount a drawer space.
Gerard found the listing in Panama City, so it was really pretty easy from there on out. Hey Shorty, I’ve decided to let you have my two green Listas, Just get this black one for me.

It was a great trade, I really like this box and I know he is happy with the two.

He was so dedicated and picking it up he even shirked his honeydew responsibilities and ended up in the doghouse

Going to have to change the name from CB-Acres to Lista Lane! Nice score for both of you guys! ... of course Gerard was probably delighted to be able to do the logistics of the move! [emoji51]

LOL, I’ll always fun to enable the guys and even better when I can get both of them in one deal. Actually, if I was able to fit a 30” deep cabinet in my place I would have got it for myself. Its really nice cabinet. It was good deal for both because know CB can sleep at night sleep at night not worrying about Shorty lusting after those Listas anymore. LOL

I actullay have more of the Vidmars, but I’ll take whichever pops up.
Poor Gerard, he’s had all these Vidmars and Listas rolling around his place and then they leave.

We have a blast, Gerard brags he got us to buy, which is like letting a kid stop in front of a candy store.

But we have a good laugh when Gs wife starts giving him hell about this ********* box sitting in his garage “ it’s leaving right?” And we step up and defend G by saying “ damn g, we told you to talk to her first before bringing these home”.:willy_nil

Yep, they both have fun getting me in trouble with the wife. Usually, these guys showing up at my house means something’s getting changed around. I know Craig is like putting candy in front of a baby. Shorty on the other hand is like forcing candy down a babies mouth yelling swallow it damn it. LOL

Updating my redo of the 56" Lista. I've degreased the insides of the drawers, removed the aluminum handle trim and I'm fixing to remove from the caster base as the bottom of the box is bowed in some, hitting the bottom of the bottom drawer.

Now I don't have to worry about taping.

This cab will need blasting on the outside, just too much surface rust.

Some progress photos. I decided to sandblast this cabinet due to the amount of surface rust. I forgot how messy this process is.
Here's what I started with.
c0778e4e2c9fc4040d70c220cb394a66.jpg
Had to heat and reshape the stops on the drawers, some were bent backwards.
3acba11a90c766b6b084b41b38da052d.jpg
Blasted and ready for primer.

I sanded the cab and the faces of the drawers after blasting to smooth out.
Primer shot.

I also spot blasted the insides of the drawers as they had a fair amount of rust. The whole inside was primered and will get a coat of grey.

Top coat today if weather cooperates.

How much weight will the drawers hold? Same as their 28 inch wide ones? I come close to overloading my 28 inch drawers. Easy to do with machine tools and set up fixtures.

They hold 400 or 440 lbs, it's the same slides and bearings, just more drawer. You have to be careful because of the width, they'll sag on ya. I'll have at least one divider in each to reinforce the bottom.

Blasted and primed the base, I hope to topcoat later today so I can start putting back together.

Just about done on this Lista. I cleaned the rust and crud from drawer support rails, this will make operation smooth as new.

Here's the almost finished product. I still need to paint the aluminum handle trim, but I can use cab as it is now.

Now to just figure out what to put in it!

What did you end up using to clean the rails?
You can put that cabinet in my shop. Oh wait, you said what tools to put in it.

Wire brushed the channels and used a flap disk on a die grinder to smooth out the drawer flanges. Everything got a coat of dry lube to keep from rusting.

It really makes a difference on the drawer operation on these cabs.

Shorty, here's a before shot of the flange. The flapper wheel that was used is in the background.

Doings at the Acres.

Worked on the Club Car today, getting ready for the trip to Flywheelers. I learned the first trip that walking around limits what I can buy!
I bought some salvage seats off a Polaris ranger to replace the mis matched seats on the cart when I bought.
Well, as always, most of my projects require some sort of mods to make things work, these seats are no different.
The cart has removable plates that the seats mount to, I didn't want to mount new seat directly to these plates as the seat covering would be against the plate and I needed to change the seat back angle some.

The bottom of the new seats.
19e6af512a8d9cb025e84da026943047.jpg
A little sub frame which gives me the height and provides a frame to adjust the back angle. I'm using 1/4" flatbar that bolts to the existing threaded holes on seat.
46d3f7aa5b5fef93daff0ab898c16014.jpg
Now I'm using 1" square tube to create the angle I want, the tubes will sit on the cart plate and be through bolted.
4db1dfaf0f753761291ecccc8d2e1080.jpg
The angle is a little more visible here.

Welded up and ready to go.
408c588b2a3ed1ad097ddc1fcc39cb91.jpg

The whole time I'm working on this my wife was cutting the overgrown pepper trees and hauling to burn pile, not asking once for any help. I do have it good with that gal!

Got the seats done on the cart, serviced and put on a new drive belt.

Installed a couple LED for the headlights. These are spose to be 120 watt, but don't seem that bright. They more than suffice for what I'm using for.

The cabinet turned out great. When I painted mine I'm sure glad prep only consisted of a little body work here and there, a scrub down with a scotch bright pad and acetone wipe. If I had to do that much work I'd have never gotten them done ;)

Thanks LX, that one was pretty involved. I have 10 more to go, mostley 28" wide by 60" tall units. Those are in pretty decent shape. I think I have about 600-700 bearings to lube!:eyecrazy::eyecrazy:

A 1,000 lb capacity platform lift. I've alway had in my floor plan a place for a lift for the mowers,ATVs and anything to keep me off the floor! I formed out a 4'x8' 8" deep pit back when the floor was poured. I also have a 2" and 3/4" conduit in the pit to the wall. These are for hydraulic hose and elec.

It doesn't run, going to try replacing the start cap tomorrow. Switches and solenoids seem ok. I'm hoping it's just the start cap. Worst case may be the motor too. I took it as is with knowing I'd may have to replace motor. I was more than happy just to have the scissor part and frame.

It's only been 13 years since I built the pit, about time I move forward to getting lift in.

Now I just need a place to put everything that's in the pit.

Hope it works out. I could find a use for one.

Here’s another addition to the shop.81650eb6df6988ff83c1284f35e77edb.jpg
A vintage aluminum frame office chair. This is the same style of one I have except this one has the arm rest. Might make into a stool if base seems it’ll be stable enough. I have another chair coming that a member picked up for me.

Everything in my shop is turning out to be old, including me!!!!
