Almost done with the underground piping. Extended the 6” to the corner of shop, the 4” 90 on the left will be for downspout, the other is just temp because I don’t have a plug.
I’ll extend the 4” to the new building for the gutters on it.

Here is the 14 boxes I was talking about.
IMG_2926.jpg
Went in with my partners in crime and we bought a online auction lot with these SO chest and carry boxes from a tech school.

Shorty, Andrew and I are meeting at Taumacs place to swap out some things, except T said he has plans and won’t be there. So, we get to have our way with his garage. Maybe we’ll do something drastic like........... paint!

Anyway, it’ll be a good time.

Yep a day in the 5 Stitches garage, unsupervised. Come to think of it, it’s been awhile since the casters have had a workout. Ummmmm?

A few of those look like neat ones, the rest are just, well, boxes. At first I thought when you said 14 boxes, you meant Vidmar/Lista boxes. Last night I ordered a ton of bins for my Lista drawers, got lucky and found some in blue as well as white rather than the standard red ones. Should be here Friday and they were a great deal thanks to eBay's 20% off code yesterday.

People ask me all the time why I need so many boxes and cabinets, I am really not sure?? Originally I thought it was because I had a lot of stuff, but sometimes I feel like I buy more stuff to put in the new drawers, then buy more drawers, then........ you guys get what I am saying, right?

Who has to have a reason?:lol_hitti yes, we get exactly what your saying.

Yeah, I kinda of lead you on saying 14 boxes:lol_hitti. I'll have two more full size Vidmars sat morning. Guess I'll set them on stands where new building is going and pour slab around them. Wife isn't letting me stash a "couple" more boxes in the barn.

Could you please send a link to the EBay site?

Another load for the shop, some SO carry boxes and two Vidmars, 60” tall four drawer units.

If I keep this up, maybe I should invest in a skid steer.
IMG_3025.jpg

Finished the 6” drain line to the ditch, worst 20’ of trenching I’ve done in a while. Two fences and roots.
IMG_3019.jpg
IMG_3020.jpg
Now I just need to hang down spouts and connect to piping.

That trenching looked like fun!

The eBay auctions are gone, I bought all of them, but if you search Lista bins, you will find the ones that are red. They are made in Natick, Massachusetts too.

Craig, are you sure 55 ton will be enough for you? Oh that's right. no rust in your part of the world.

Plenty of rust down here, just not the salt induced kind.:lol_hitti

My sons first truck was from the NJ area, we did a lot of work on it (read torches). First time I've ever had to replace brake lines cause of non self inflicted holes.::lol_hitti

We put a body and suspension lift on it. Both lift installs took less time than removing ( read- torch again) body bolts and suspension bolts.

He swore no more northen trucks.

Another piece for upcoming expansion of the shop.

I’ll be adding a I beam in front of the shop so I’ll have some travel of the electric hoist. It’ll only be about 10’, but it’ll be nice to have some movement of the heavy stuff.

I plan on getting the beam and supports fabbed up soon as the new building is up and things are moved out of the way. The new lift set up will come in handy with the planned projects coming. The same plannned projects.

your barn/shop must be really taking shape, when will you have the new one ready to put equipment in?

Richard, it’s just a 18’x 25’ storage area (annex). It’ll have our generator in it so we can run during storms, and mainly storage and floor space horder items to free up the shop. At the rate the county is processing my permit, it’ll be the end of July before it’s up.

This recent project has pretty much stopped the shop things project, but some things like the drainage had to be done. You know how it is, stumble across this thing, get it, then build a project around it, doing the project and keep adding ideas into it.

I have over 10 Vidmar/Listas to go through and paint. It’ll be even easier for me once I get past this July or so when the new building goes up.

Thanks for stopping by.

I modified two 4” sch 40 fittings to adapt to the 4”x4” galvalume downspouts. Heated the PVC and formed it over a block of wood. Hit it with water right after to set the new shape.

Heated using a charcole starter.

Ooie gooie and push on.

Downspout fits nice. I’ll hit with flap wheel to dress up a little.

I’m going to leave the gap around the downspout to let me know if I have any backups in the line.

Some more on the down spouts today.
On one side of the shop, there is a low spot on the gutter, due to the existing roof line of barn. I’ve been meaning to locate the lowest spot so I could eventually cut a hole for the down spout.

Well as my luck would have it, a branch on the oak tree broke off during s storm and hit the end of the gutter, pushing down the last 20’, so I had to get that back in alignment before proceeding.

Here’s cutting out for downspout
IMG_3267.jpg
IMG_3271.jpg

I had to redo the angles on the offset, it missed the gutter by 2”. I bought these when I did my roof 4 years ago, but the angle and dangle didn’t jangle.
IMG_3286.jpg

Offset section in, just need the straight piece and extend the 4” pvc to it and this side is done!
IMG_3287.jpg

Had a bad thunderstorm pass through, dog found shelter under weld table.
IMG_3272.jpg

It’s getting there.

I wish I had gutters on my shop, the ones you are installing look like some serious ones. Someday, gutters, and an overhang for the man door would be nice.

My lease is very weird, it is essentially a mortgage with a balloon payment. I would have bought it already, but I can’t make the numbers work in my favor, right now I only pay half the taxes and 70% of the monthly payment goes towards the purchase price that we set 8 years ago. You can’t come close to any mortgage like that, so I am waiting until the lease is almost up before buying it.

We’ve been getting the daily downpours here, one side of drainage works great, and downspout not even in.

Who needs a downspout.

If you look closely, you can see water flowing into the temp 90.

Looks like the system will work great once it is done. It is supposed to rain here, last time we got an inch or more and the ground was so dry that the sump in my basement stayed dry as a bone. I wonder if it will be the same this time.

It’s carrying the water away, so I’m happy.
I sized it according to rainfall charts I found online for the square footage of roof area that I’m draining. I think the charts barely went into 5” pipe, I have 6”.

Time will tell on the impact it has, but it will be better.

Just seeing the amount of water collecting and draining so far is impressive, up here those would probably get destroyed when the snow and ice come off the roof. That is why I haven’t done anything yet, someday I will make some super duty ones and probably collect some of the water too.

Craig, the drainage is looking great. It doesn't appear to be raining -- isn't that just the morning dew dripping down? You're in Florida where "rain" means you can't see the back fence.

Hey Bob, thanks for stopping by this side of the state. I see you have been getting your fair share of the rain.

Your're correct, that is just the drizzle after the storm,:lol_hitti.

When it really raining, the waterfall in the picture is about 4' further out!
