Moving along to get ready for rest of concrete. Cut control joints in slab.
Formed rest of sidewalk up to door.

Installed Deck O Drain against slab, this concrete will slope from shop wall to this drain and drain out the back and be tied to the gutter piping.

You’re getting there. On a side note, the front of the shop looks so much better without those green Listas.

As you can see, the area back filled pretty quick.

Looks good man, you must be excited. That looks like alot of work

Thanks for stopping by, thanks. It's a lot for sure, I tend to overkill in areas. I'll be excited not to be doing dirt work in this humidity and sand sticking to me all the time.:lol_hitti

Hmmmmmm, I sure someone is happy about that. I wonder who that could be.

The wife was happy to see the God awful green gone, she'll be real happy when building is up and stuff inside it.

I can’t imagine what the humidity is like down there, I am dying up here, sweating buckets just thinking about working.

We go by heat index, not actual temp, it's been 105 avg for couple weeks now. Last Friday when getting ready for pour at 5:45 AM, I was 50 % drenched by 6:20. That was a three sets Of clothes day. Even after 6:30 in evening I'm completly soaked.

Concrete finally complete. It didn’t sit around very long either! I had a buddy run the dump buggy for me while I laid everything down. Went pretty good, and he help out where he could. He’s still recovering from a heart transplant late last year. It was great to get together with him and do this. We used to work together in the 80s pouring concrete and this was the first time pouring together since then.
I have a neat time lapse video , I just need to figure out how to post.

Anyway, here it is poured out.

Well it rained after we were done, but it got heavier and I covered it up. Well it drains great, had to remove cap and trench over to the gutter drain pipe.

That’s great on concrete and your friend being able to help. Guess your other buddies ran the other way when you mentioned work. lol

It was real great as we hadn’t seen each other for a while. We used to do concrete together back in the 80s for a little business we had. First time we poured together since then. It whooped our *** at times back then due to occasional hangovers, now it whips just because of age.:lol_hitti

I had other friends offer, but the talk of supervising and holding up shovels, I didn’t have any of those positions open.:lol_hitti

I’m going to take a break and drink a beer on my new concrete.

Extended the 4” for the shed gutters and tied in the 2” for the deck drain. I’m almost done with the dirt work!

Well ****! Went to finish the 4" line last night and the fittings wouldn't fit. Guess I have 3' of pipe in a 2'11" space.
Got to get a 4" 90 street fitting or get creative cutting the hubs on two others. In my attempt to keep everything straight with min bends, I out bended myself.

But, I'm traveling today, so it don't count as a trip for fittings, right?

He’s my P.O. for fittings

Well I’m done with the drainage, well, one more fitting, but I have that one.
This will be for the down spouts on the new shed, whenever it gets here.

I had to grind the ridge to modify a 2” coupling into a repair coupling.
0ab172bf7d04c275feeb5f69a5d94efd.jpg
No, I didn’t break anything....... I had to make a little adjustment to the 2” Deck I Drain line. I intended to put in a 2” clean out, I missed it in the bag of fittings that my wife picked up and I was rushing to beat the rain. So, I didn’t think of it until I seen it in HD while picking up other fittings, so I grabbed one, figuring it’d be easy to cut out a section, lift the 4” up and glue back together, except I forgot I already backfilled the 4”.

So, repair coupling to the rescue, ground out the ridge do that coupling would slide over the pipe and the slide over to connect the clean out.
Anyway, it’s done.
Here’s my PO message to prove it.

Ok, I’m as good as any government utility now. Put in a line, cover it up, go back and dig in the same spot to add another line a day later!
I had a water line for a old pig pen and a stub next to the shop.
I abandoned the section that’s under the new concrete and rerouted to the shop wall.
e2e8f838c7f05a2862cac38bf6f258c2.jpg
Since I tied in the 4” to the shed slab, while digging for the water line, it’s was pretty wet right by the wall, so I rigged a temporary diversion pipe to get the gutter water away from building.
72bbcf0cc799f1b3a3556242b31bbe66.jpg
I need to work on gutter itself before I can install down spout. Hopefully this weekend I can make that happen.
I worked on getting the general area cleaned up now that the heavy work is done.
Stacked up firewood from the storm damaged oak trees. I’ll have plenty of BBQ wood for a while.
Load testing concrete

It’s a Rockwell 11” lathe, plenty of accessories.

Been through one storm, still dry.

You think we have issues? This lathe was inside a house.
Rolled it right front door.

Guy had two houses side by side, crammed full. One bed between the two house.

Heard he has another in another town

Details later.

“Lathe inside the house....”. Now there is a man who has his priorities in order!

Don’t leave us hanging on the details..... was this a “you ****” situation? You know.... Shorty is dying to give you some well deserved suckage....

Wow.... that sounds so wrong but felt so right to type....! [emoji51]

Hell no! :shocking:

Thankfully I was there Friday and picked up all the “you ****” deals. :bounce: Got me a nice Powermatic 143 bandsaw along with some smalls.

This place was a GJ Dream. Two houses, side by side, full of equipment, tools and spares. Stuff was in living room, bedrooms, bathroom and single car garage. Since he had several lathes, I think he’d buy broke equipment, find parts and fix. Had a good assortment of tooling, some vintage some Chinese. Hand and power tools ran from old to new. Seemed to be a widower and tinkering and buying tools was his mistress.

Well he should at least buy me a beer for telling him about the bandsaw. I know he wanted one as mine still has his drool spots on the floor. I had called the estate sale co and asked for model numbers on a few things, the bandsaw being one, I was on the phone with the guy going over the lathe and then I asked about saw and it took him about five minuites to get to it, I'm thinking how big is this garage?

So once I found out it was the same as mine, I pushed shorty to get it. I'm happy I enabled him to spend some money and take a road trip.

I posted up the lathe while on the way back home, it's three hours one way. I'll post one more pics when I get unloaded and unwrapped. I paid $ 1000 for it, it has three chucks, collet closer, face plates and some other stuff. I bought a crate of faceplates and a taper attachment also. It also had a spanner wrench and a handful of the wrenches for the tail stock and others.

I have a 11" now, but it has a couple gears in the need of dentist work and buying this lathe is more cost effective than trying to get parts that are hard to come by. Thats my story anyway.

Hell no! :shocking:

Shorty looked over the lathe for me when he was there, turned it on without any casualties and a good run down. It gave me the confidence of giving them my bid unseen. The real bonus was it was on steel frame dollies, just had to clear a few mountains of stuff out of the way and rolled it out.

Shorty does deserve the you **** on the bandsaw buy.

By the time I got there on Monday, most of the good stuff was gone.
Thanks Shorty for looking over. Oh, I have your bag that you left there.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Good weekend all around. Craig glad you found the sale and did all the up front investigating. Losing about 10# of sweat didn’t hurt either. (AC wasn’t on in the houses)

Need a judges ruling but I think this qualifies as “self suckage!”

Ok you two talking about suckage for each other is just getting down right creepy!

In all seriousness, sounds like a great road trip.

So....What does it take to get an invite... I can buy beer, pizza, frozen 7-11 burritos.....I can even take one for the team and smooze hooters girls...whatever it takes....!

No invited needed, just a call that goes like: hey, is there room in your fridge for all this beer I have , and, are you there?:beer:

Your right, Shorty did **** himself and that's just not allowed.:lol_hitti

It was a good trip, I just wish we could of been there at the same time.

Hmmmmm..... Official GJFC ruling would be..... Shorty is claiming suckage. He loses all suckage he may or may not have gotten from this purchase and being he a long time GJFC member he must buy beer and next Hooters meeting.

No invite is needed. Just come on over when in area.

Marked scribe lines AND took measurements of conduit locations. I’ll drill through the tube wall frame and extend up later. I wanted the conduits in the wall.

What more could you ask for.... a perfect sunset over a new workshop or storage building or Lista repair center....

Thanks for stopping by guys.

It'll be a storage shed, generator house so I can have power during the next hurricane.

Inspection Friday, cut out the stupid base tube that they put in the door way and be rolling in a bunch of stuff!

Very nice, Craig! That should take care of you for two or three (days?) (weeks?) (months?). Don't forget you have all that space up north!

Thank you Bob. So you want in on the pool?

Congrats Craig. After the inspection is done, time to hit sales and fill that puppy up.

Pool away, not going to run out to sales and fill up! I already ran out to sales and stocked up!:lol_hitti

I'm still going to sales, but have been pretty selective in what I buy. Sales are the hunt, the social aspect of it. It's fun to listen to wives tell their husbands don't go in the garage, you don't need anything, you're not buying that....... To the really older retired guy and his cronies ( sound familiar ) buying a 6' 30 lb Johnson bar that he can barely carry " this will come in handy" .

It's a blast.

Anyway, those who know me know I can fill that thing up without ever leaving the property again:lol_hitti.

Thanks for the comments, I'm happy.
The real amazement will looking through my shop and seeing the back door while standing in the front.

Don't know about the pool as I wasn't in it.
But that's a total piece of junk and your shed deserves better. I'll take it away for you to clean the place up.
