Don't know about the pool as I wasn't in it.
But that's a total piece of junk and your shed deserves better. I'll take it away for you to clean the place up.

You have enough saw resto/repair already. Remember the Craftsman. LOL. Not that I am short of projects, but I might..... Nah forget it. You can have the saw.

I would have expected a vidmar or lista to be the first thing in there???

New building looks great, awesome that they got those last few feet up so quick, doesn't it make you feel like you took way too long to get the first few inches up?

;)

Just got the final inspection today, for what they looked at, they really should accept photos emailed to them..

Most of the vidmars will stay in shop, a couple will go in here temporary until I resume painting in a month or so.

Going to start with getting a chunk of non staying in the shop stuff moved over, unload the new lathe from trailer and then stop and go catch up with some house projects:lol_hitti
The wife's been pretty patient during the build.

Nice shed CB. I need one of them too :(

GB

Thanks for stopping by GB.

I didn't realize how much I needed it:lol_hitti.

It was great to finally move stuff out of the way and have a place for it. A chunk of the cabs I moved yesterday are damaged and will be cut apart to use in other cabs, but now there out of the way, the weather and the wifes eyesight.:lol_hitti

The shed will eventually have some of the contents from a existing shed, which was my overflow from the garage before the shop.
I'll finallt will have all the parts/ material that gets used around the property in the same spot.

It'll also house the generator and will run inside there during storms. I have some venting and exhaust openings to install yet.

It'll let my shop be a shop:beer:

That reminds me, I think I left my beer in the shed yesterday.

Started moving stuff from shop to new shed, found some concrete floor, imagine that!

Unloaded the lathe that’s been patiently sitting on the trailer.

Trailer winch comes in handy.

This is the longer 11” lathe, 36” between centers, which is a upgrade from my other 11”.
52f2966fb40a56af8811c897bf2863d1.jpg
The lathe runs nice and all feeds appear to be working fine. I oiled it down as things seem to rust overnight in my shop.

I’m real happy with it, just need to figure out the correct lubes before using too much.

Obviously it is a sickness, multiple lathes, I am thinking about another one already and I don't even know how to use mine yet!

I would say that your acquisition looks like it came with a lot of accessories, those are always nice to have. I am finding that the tool holders and tooling can easily exceed the cost of the machines.

Got to grab them when they come up.

Once I confirm the new one is 100%, I'll be looking to sell the first one. It's runs and everything works on it, this one just further along for me.

Can't be sickness. No no. I have 2, and a mill, and a couple of drill presses. And all my woodshop machines. And I am not sick. At least until my gf finds out and then it might be injured rather than sick.

Denial, I am surrounded by denial. :dunno:

Well if two lathes is considered sickness, which I dont, what is 50-60 hammers called, or about 30 adjustable wrenches?:lol_hitti

I'm not in denial about anything:lol_hitti. Really!

I love the look on people's faces wheni tell them to get a hammer out of the drawer. " which drawer?"
Any of the three
" what the fuk do you need all these hammers?"

Been moving stuff from the shop to the shed, man do I need to pare down. Old parts for projects that I’ve sold a while back and stuff I’ve been meaning to sell. It’ll all get it’s own special storage area so it’ll be front and center for my attention. I worked too hard on getting the shed done to have it cluttered.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Here’s a shot before I started.

Here’s a shot from yesterday.

I know it may not seem that different, but there’s the new lathe and the red box is one of the 60” Vidmar shelf boxes that I’m using to move the shelf rack contents on.

Shot of the shed.

It’s getting there, the tropical storm didn’t help much but that’s life in fl.

In honor of Shorty and not to let him Hogg all the safety examples, here’s mine.

The shed company engineers their buildings leaving a 2.5” tube across the bottom of the door opening. I had asked them to take it out, but it did not make it to the drawing stage. When I received my permit drawings, it was still there and I didn’t want to delay submitting for my permit.

I could of had them leave out when building, but sometimes the inspectors are pretty particular and I didn’t want to deal with a revision.

So, on to the safety example.

Here’s the door as it was built.
e25172e985c68a49adb2ea686a30cd26.jpg
Here’s the tool everyone thought I performed the safety example with.
c96d21429b5f986cfdd006ffa72c47c0.jpg
Here’s the dog watching and waiting for me to fuk up.
ce945e540a52acd12cb3da014911c832.jpg
Here’s the tool that didn’t do the safety example deed to me, despite the blood drops on it.
6d9898e7137878d442715a05bd091ac6.jpg
Here’s the end product.
7a022977d4ba03e0c619626cc853ccb4.jpg
My thumb and half of the nail is split.
I had cut through most of the tube and was cutting the bottom flat but didn’t want to score the concrete up, so I grabbed the tube and twisted it in hopes of tearing the last little bit of steel.
Well, it let lose almost right away and before I could stop, I rolled the tube right onto my thumb and pinched it on the concrete.
Guess I’m lucky I didn’t catch both thumbs.

Anyway, sorry to steal from your spotlight Shorty!

Craig, at my age I bleed during projects for no apparent reason. I see the blood on the table or floor and then try to find where it's leaking from. Liane believes in stitches and I believe in painter's tape. I have to change to flesh color tape so she doesn't do the "What did you do?" or "What's under the tape?"

Bob, I know what you mean about looking to see where the blood is coming from, many of time my wife comes out and ask what happened?
The best one was when using a air nailer, the nail hit a knot and ricocheted off the wall and into my forearm about a half inch in.
She cane over to see what I was cussing about and I was pulling on the nail and my skin and all were pulling up like a tent ! So, one good jerk and it was free.

Shortys coming down in a few weeks and there’s been a lot of off forum chatter among us and I was asked if I had a couple first aid kits.

fbf3f117cb231ee11389933bf40a4e97.jpg
It’s pretty complete.
5d491905619a3f206f5bf81158fd8800.jpg
A back up.
97293df40f06af94b0bc6292ece9b4c2.jpg
And these are for the ones that aren’t hurt and don’t want to hear the screams of the injured.
71b8cba23bba7c2a5b3b3e3e871c0871.jpg
And first worst case, a AED .
f4d2cbea615b4c1a2fddf05bd216ada7.jpg
I heard they work as good to knock someone out as they do to revive.

Now, don’t just assume all this gear is here for shorty, I’ve spilled as much blood lately as he has.

I figured I’d post a couple drawings of the shop going back to when I scooped the last pile of road apples out.

It’s interesting to see how the layout has evolved in the 13 or so years and I still haven’t completely finished a layout, new or old! Got close a few times.

The first drawing is from 2005. My first inception of how’s thing was going to be placed.
b57f950a3df8097b2dd1b1c3737a59d6.jpg
This is how it ended up after I finally moved in. Note the lone Lista.
642a42dc4655c0a5588b69134645a3dd.jpg
Up to this point was all before being a member of GJ.

This one is 2012, when I renewed my interest in getting it done and started acquiring more Vidmars.
4e4d1aecf3ea621ed32ba02b60846ed6.jpg

Now back to the present .
This is my current plan, note the Vidmars and Listas now. They must of mated!
08b1d459f3806d496447bc7f6d82d554.jpg
I added color to keep track of all them!

Here’s another showing an “office” of sorts now that I have the shed. Not sure if I’m doing, I’ll get the shop close to this layout to see how things flow.
b8ad8921a094ed2b18968bea906ac8bc.jpg

And here’s a overall showing how the shed related to the shop.
The cooler room in shed was a earlier consideration of a office there instead.
f1385ee6723506cb780e0b664e3daa49.jpg
The compressor may go in the shed, again a possible future consideration. I pipe conduit in for if I do.

Thanks for stopping by.

Very-impressive, all those floor layout drawings! I like the use of color, it seems more-important vs. a black & white rendering. I envy those of you who have lots of space/room. A 2-car is pretty-crowded, but it's better than no room.

Why don't you make a compressor 'phone booth' on the outside? Frees-up space, lowers noise, and cuts-back on the earplug line-item in the shop budget.

I like your shop first aid supplies, you look well prepared. I see some Elastoplast cloth tape, that stuff is great, it sticks to itself well and if you wrap it tight, it can serve as a compressive bandage. When dealing with the 'bleeders' on EMS calls at the fire dept, I usually reached-for the Elastoplast.

Another good item to have is a 'multi-trauma dressing,' a thick multiple-layer sterile dressing slightly-smaller than a hand towel. You'll know when it's time to need it. That and a full roll of Elastoplast, and you should be able to take care of most "oh-sh_t!" moments. I'm speaking of the ones that you know will require a trip to the E.R.

It almost seems like it isn't a 'real' project unless you smear a bit of red somewhere, hopefully, it's just an abrasion and not a trip to the E.R. that provides you with the blood.

For demo work like you were doing w/the Sawzall, I have a Sawzall, but I bought a Porter-Cable Tiger Saw because you can articulate the nose of the saw into many different configurations courtesy of a couple of adjustable joints in it. It's been very handy and it paid for itself on the first job where it was used.

Thanks for stopping by Phillip.

I don't have everything that you mentioned, but ill get by with some shop towels, shop rags ( clean if I can reached them) and the wife has plenty of vet wrap on hand along with some gauze packs. There's always duct tape?:lol_hitti

The kits I pictured are at work, don't think id need all that even if shorty was over every day. I just posted those in my continued harassment of my buddy shorty:beer::beer:

But you should see what he texts bout me all the time.

Im glad I kept the older drawings, its neat to see what my shop thoughts were back then and how its evolved.

It’s always good to look to the past to see how far you come especially before becoming a GJ member and buying all these items you never thought you needed. It’s all about the journey

Ok, enough talk and planning. Let’s getr’ done. I know you don’t want me or Gerard coming down and taking charge. [emoji481]
No. He just wants you for the labor. At least that's what he told me. We sit back with beers and you do the work. Sounds good to me.

Congrats on the new clutter cover, that turned out really nice

Well you might be joking, but I'm not..:spit:

IMG_6345.jpg

These kits are right in the middle of the shop where they can't be buried by my own clutter. And as much as I'd like to lie and say they never get used, well :(

Shorty, you're welcome over anytime, I got ya covered. :bounce:

Thanks for stopping by Terrick. You know the saying, looks good on paper. It's actually falling pretty close so far. You can't hit target that's not there.

Ok, enough talk and planning. Let’s getr’ done. I know you don’t want me or Gerard coming down and taking charge.

Talk! Where've you been?:lol_hitti come on down.

No. He just wants you for the labor. At least that's what he told me. We sit back with beers and you do the work. Sounds good to me.

Andrew , shhhhh, don't want to scare them away. I did put thier chairs behind a pile of stuff that they'll have to move first before sitting down and drinking beer.

Congrats on the new clutter cover, that turned out really nice

Well you might be joking, but I'm not..:spit:

These kits are right in the middle of the shop where they can't be buried by my own clutter. And as much as I'd like to lie and say they never get used, well :(

Shorty, you're welcome over anytime, I got ya covered. :bounce:

Thanks for stopping by too LX, I like that, clutter cover. Thanks for the comment, I'm real happy with it and all of the concrete work. I can push a fairley loaded 60" wide Vidmar across sidewalk and up ramp without it rolling back over me:lol_hitti it's all working as designed.

Here’s my progress, I’ve been doing and not keyboard commanding.:headscrat:lol_hitti
Pick up some 5/8” or I guess it’s 19/32” plywood nowadays to replace the warped particle board on the shelf unit.
I didn’t want it to get wet. It Rainey season here still and brand new plywood always attracts the rain for 50 miles around.

In place on stuff being loaded.

I picked up another shelf level being in the shed, shop is only 8’ ceiling. Bonus.

Here’s a updated view, now I can see all the through the shop right into the clutter pile out back!:shocking:

See, a lot of you talk about the shop holding you down, I have proof!

I built this back in 87 or so for my buddies wedding. It’s a aluminum buoy mostly filled with lead. Had to keep it to 75 lbs so we could fly with it, otherwise it would of been slammed full of lead.

We lock it to the grooms ankle , after much carrying on and teasing of the bride, whoever has the key makes the call wether to hand over to the bride or not!

So the bride gets the key...

It’s not the right key, it’s the wrong f’ing key.......

Been a lot of fun, some pissed off brides.

I forgot all about it.

Anyway, it’s getting there.

I’m suppose to have some visitors next week, so I may just slow down so they show me how it’s done!:lol_hitti:beer::lol_hitti

Drilled holes through base tube and extended 1” conduits up into shed.

I hope to pull wire soon.

I left a female adapter flush with concrete when I poured the slab.

Screwed in a threaded pvc ******, I’ll extend it up into a box later.

Thanks for the tip Andrew. I’ll make sure I wear my Florida safety shoes.

LX, I agree, you’re not working hard if you don’t bumps and bruises. Thanks for the invite, I’d would like to stop by if in the area.
