Thanks for the tip!! Have you ordered thru them before?

I didn't end up buying the cutters but I appreciate finding new ways to save money. :)

Damn...I already have a pair of Greenlee but I really wanted some USA ones. I'm in! I had a few things already waiting in my cart anyway, so why not?

Sweet I've been looking for these...gotta wait 3 to 5 weeks now through Amazon but that's OK.

Maybe not.

When they have deals and things get bought quickly from Amazon as the seller, Amazon will come back later that day and add the product again under "More Buying Choices" and state 3-5 weeks for delivery.

Often times if you check back the next day Amazon will be the main seller again with under 10 units showing next day Prime delivery. I've seen them do that numerous times in the past w/ a lot of car stuff. So hopefully you'll get them sooner than 3-5 weeks.

Nice! In for one. May not be instant gratification, but can't beat the price on high quality tools.

I'm on the fence on this. Normally I would jump on this, but that fact that you can only cut soft aluminum and copper makes then not very useful to me. I wish you could also cut small gauge steel with them as well.

Completely different kind of tool. Get a wire rope cutter for steel. I've had good luck with ones targeting bicycle cables and housings.

I don't think any cable cutters will cut steel? I haven't seen any that will. :dunno:

There are lots of them out there for just this side of forever.

Most of the newer ones are hydraulic. I've got one of the "manual" ones that'll zip thru 1-1/4 wire rope with just a couple of blows or so. It'll cut 3/4" like it was nothing if you hit it square with just one blow. Clean straight cuts too. A lot better than a torch.

My father bought it in the 1950's. I sharpened the blade in it maybe twenty years ago. With just one moving part, they're pretty reliable.

Go to Google and enter:

Morse-Starrett Cable Cutter

Then click images.

You can't own or work on a dragline without one. :lol_hitti

Come to think of it, I haven't even SEEN a dragline in ten years or better. Everybody is using those new backhoes with that fancy hydraulic stuff...

5 years from now you'll be kicking yourself for not buying USA pliers for $10, even if you don't need them.

EXACTLY!!!

I already had a old used pair of Kliens and they were made in USA, but another pair is always good

So I found these at lowes at lunch for $5.95, said they had two pairs, OK I ordered one for an instore pickup on the way home. Got my confirmation email, lady even called said that they had it ready. Stopped by on the way home. No where to be found. I guess the $10.19 ain't too bad, but the shipping factor kinda blows. Anyone know any tricks for the shipping without prime? I'm thinking these may be handy for cutting welding cable?
