Looks like 27 Amps on the name plate but I could be wrong. Minimum fuse or breaker size would be 27 x 1.25 = 33.75. (Largest motor in the whole machine).Next common fuse/breaker size is 40 amps. Are there any motors or loads in the compressor like fans or driers? They get added to the total Current/amp draw. The motor can actually be fused at 250% of full load amperage. This is to overcome startup.

Next common fuse / breaker size is 35A.

Problem Solved

an empirical compressor guy arrived with more or less like 20 capacitors and started playing around until he got the right combination.

took him like 4 hours, he used a 40 amp breaker. the compressor is good as expected.
thanks to all for your cooperation

Can you give any details as to what was fixed or changed?

Sent from my G8141 using The Garage Journal mobile app

first of all its my fault. I should never had ordered 3.5 hp motors with 110 volts. They should had being 220v 1 phase as the factory had them . So my stuborness in ordering 110v is my fault.

I finally changed the starting capacitor from 600mF 150 vac to the new one of 300mF 250 vac and everything works perfect on all 12 compressors.

OP- Glad you were able to get things figured out!

For those of us that may have 12 buddies (I do, however one can't be trusted; maybe a traitor) and would like to make a similar purchase (minus the 110v motor excitement) would you be willing to share the contact info for these units?

China is more than capable of building high end stuff. More companies than you realize buy from China and rebrand. $800 for a scroll compressor. I'd be willing to give a go. ha

OP hasn't logged on for a year, so don't hold your breath.

That price was also 4 years ago...which might ad well be 20. With shipping and materials costs today, double what he paid wouldn't surprise me

Just got a quote from the same company for $800 shipped.
220v 1 phase
10cfm @ 120 psi

It's their only 1 phase unit which is why its such low cfm. Looks like I may need to do 3 phase in the garage. :/

You don't need three phase to beat 10cfm. That said, you have the ability to get 3 phase?

Just saying that's what they offer for 1 phase. Even the higher cfm Eastwood is 3 phase. There must be something to the scrolls that need more powerful motors for the higher cfm?

I could run a piston pump compressor 220 single phase and get about 30 CFM. But I'm trying to get away from the noise

I hear ya on the noise...ba dum tish...

What's the hp rating on their 10scfm model?

If you can get 3 phase, it opens a lot of possibilities

I have some direct experience with the quality of Chinese Scroll compressors.

In a previous job I worked at a large company that made Scroll A/C and refrigeration compressors in plants throughout the world; including the US, Western Europe, and China.

The product designs were the same across all plants, and products from any plant could be shipped to any region for final install and usage.

I had access to both the initial quality numbers and long-term field reliability numbers for all plants.

The answer to "which plant makes the best compressors?" was invariably "whichever plant has the newest production equipment". There were absolutely years where the Chinese products were demonstrably higher-quality than the US/Euro ones.

IMO, if you go to China for manufacturing they will build it to the price point you request.

I just picked up a scroll compressor at a scratch and dent sale. Plate says 33.3cfm. 10hp one phase motor.IMG_20250531_134805952.jpgIMG_20250531_135121340.jpg
Princess auto?

Curious what they let it go for at scratch and dent if you want to share. Also would love to hear how those Hyundai compressors are in use, there isnt a lot out there about them.
