Here's a real peculiarity, some can of the Lybian National Oil Company: Nationalube

normal_nationalube.JPG

I've buy them in Lybia last winter during a touristic raid (10 italian 2cv and a libian guide with a toyota pick up) in Hammada desert with our micro-camping-car 2cv-camionette:

End of holydays, back to garage:

This old lamp was so sad and often off-duty for rain flowing inside from the rusty cup..

normal_lamp1%7E0.JPG

I had a similar one coming from the same renovation of a road enligthment, I've found a more idoneus fixin' element:

Such a cool lamp enlights now a little but very deplorable roof, the last remaining from the whole "village"..

normal_TETT1.JPG

Me and my father we took decision, in two hours roof is down and the place cleaned..

normal_TETT3.JPG

New morning, new work: we select some idoneus used woods, polish them a little and rise them up (note the home-made carriot :lol_hitti)

normal_TETT4.JPG

normal_TETT5.JPG

Time to rise a little the walls, "first brick" cerimony:

normal_TETT6.JPG

normal_TETT7.JPG

Painting of secondary woods..

normal_tett13.JPG

Up..

normal_tett14.JPG

Here's the final walls almost ended..

normal_tett15.JPG

normal_TETT16.JPG

A romantic stone for memory of these happy days..

normal_TETT17.JPG

And here we go with the 3rd wood level: this is an old traditional way to cover roofs, it is a little heavy but very caracteristic of this part of Italy:

normal_TETT18.JPG

normal_TETT19.JPG

normal_TETT21.JPG

This little woods are about 15,5 centimeters each other. Here's the final moments: new (used but machine-made) "shingles" for the not-seen low part, ancient ones (hand-made and steam-train-blacky) for the upper part:

normal_TETT24.JPG

..except for this very old first-machine-made shingles of the area, coming from an old brick-factory of my town called "Martini" from 1909 to 1920 then changed in "Novaretti".. so very rare!

Of course, history teach us "nothing as a guard-dog is better to keep working class at working place" so..

normal_ROX19.JPG

How do you even have time to work on your cars with all the construction and other projects you have going around there? Your workmanship is great! I love the look of your garage/shop. You appreciate what you have and I think that is something we can all learn. Over here in America we always seem to get caught up in what everybody else has rather than truly enjoying and being appreciative of what WE have.

Something that everybody can take away from this is with a little hard work and creativity you can really build something beautiful.

Love reading your posts! Please keep them coming. Fantastic job on all the work you do! Thanks so much! I've re-read these posts several times now.

Butch.

Beautiful garage. At the end of the day garage setups are pretty much the same regardless of where you live. We all (mostly all) have a workbench with a vise mounted on one end, tools and wrenches hanging from the wall and a toolchest or two or three. I like the photo where you are bundled up and drinking warm tea in the garage. So you have rednecks in Italy too!

How do you find enough energy and hours in a day to do everything you do & still have time for a holiday?
Very nice job on the house & garage rebuild. Especially the paving job. Love all your Citros. You could open a little museum.

Hi! Greets and tanks everybody for appreciations, is true I'm a lucky man for lot of reasons first of all I have a great girlfriend: she loves me :D , old Citroen cars, "slow" way of living, our old work-in-progress home, italian countryside and nord-african trips.. what can I ask more!

Here some news from citrogarage.. waterworks!

I'v a lot of hydraulic fitting and 3/4, 1/2 inches pipes coming from old pipelines of our home, I decide to have "artistical" idraulic facilities in my atelier! Here we go:

normal_tub2.JPG

composed "puzzle" pipeline.. a little knowledge in how to assemble "Mannesmann pipes"..

normal_tub1.JPG

normal_tub3.JPG

First results..

normal_tub4.JPG

normal_tub5.JPG

.. and an idea :

normal_tub7.JPG

The general "Nautilus"-look is increased by the air-fitting: is the smaller pipeline next to the water line, coming from compressor:

normal_tub13.JPG

The water-condensed air filter..
normal_tub12.JPG

..some small decorative cans appear..
normal_tub14.JPG

normal_tub15.JPG

condensed-water finishes into this small Fernet-Branca bottle..

normal_TUB19.JPG

And Here's the new (Model-Year 1951..) sink! only two screws and the exit column keep it up:

normal_lavabo.JPG

Here's that famous wheel..

normal_lavabo1.JPG

Et Voilà.. Final touch:

normal_lavabo3.JPG

It looks "ancient" quite enough? ;)

Here's, finally, the fire-extinguish palce, with regolamentar graphic pannel!!

Ciao, Lucajack!

Just came across this thread, it's absolutely excellent! Reminds me of years long past as my first car was a late sixties 2CV... Also enjoyed the pics of the H van; I used to drive one of those around for deliveries in Paris back in the day. We used to call it the "tube" truck.

Most people would have just torn down the old barn. The fact that you rebuilt it back to as original is impressive. You are a real craftsman The stone work is also beautiful. Tell your girl that I said she does great work.

Thank you Lucajack for sharing your photos. They are so cool. My wife is Italian too. Her dad came to the US when he was 2. Her maiden name was D'Ambrosio. Your English is fine. Don't stop, please continue. Thank you again.

And Hi Tatra! Great nickname, my second love they are cars of eastern europe, specially the DDR Trabant (I'm restoring one here: http://www.2cvclubitalia.com/public/smf/index.php?topic=1145.420 ).

Here's a Tatra I meet during a trip in Czech Republic with a friend and our Citroen Dyane in 1997! Great and monstrous vehicle

Citrogarages of the past:

This sort of log-cabin was not un in the woods but next to my parent's house in town, rounded by a lot of concrete six-floor buildings..

index.php

Very cheap and romantic! The owner vas an old lady, I used it as a shelter for few months for my DS but there came more rain inside than outside and I left it very quicky..

This place instade was the "dacia" of our family, in Alps. During years I used it to stock some old cars and my first restorations, too difficult becouse of distance, snow and cold in wintertime.

This beautiful little home in the woods has been sold to buy Citrogarage in 2002 :(
