Craftsman VA Series Wrenches are not that bad!!!
Especially when you get them NEW for $5.00 a piece shipped!!!

Elroy has no intentions of digging up old threads but this little string had some good information. It needs a bump and Elroy tells me that he has some fresh observations to make on the current Craftsman combinations. Elroy felt this was as good as place as any to bring this subject to light
The new subject at hand, has to do with the current CNC profiled milled beams typically found on the V ^ Craftsman's. Look closely at the beam of these:

This series Craftsman clearly display tool marks that encompass the full 360 degree perimeter of the wrench. In Elroy's humble opinion he feels fully justified in claiming these have been CNC profiled milled. You can see the chatter marks around the full perimeter and the transition from the beam into the heads are continuous.
Look at how these CNC beams compare to the older "forge and trim" beam in the middle:

Sticks out like a sore thumb:

YEP. It appears to that ***** Elroy, these Craftsman's are fully contoured milled along the edge for 360 degrees . look closely at yours. You may have some as well and if you do they're probably stamped V^
Anyone else have any that are stamped differently??
Type "Sears2011" into the coupon box for another $5 off. It should ring up now as around $153 before tax, does it? Then take another $5 off and you get around $148.**.
Coupon code LABORDAYSHIP gives you free shipping.

The V^ series are one of the better ones in Elroy's book:
Are yours contoured milled ??
I have a set of =V= wrenches and sockets that serve me well but wanted to add a few more of mm's. So I figured for the price the VA will be ok.
I V's are hard to find around here where I am and if they land on GJ they are gone like they were on fire!!!
Nice Wrenches!!!![]()
i got my set today. for the money, a great deal.
i got 2 8mm and no 9mm. who needs a 9mm anyway![]()

Are you holding it correctly?
I'm guessing that if the wrench is thicker, it will create a higher pressure point? do you agree or disagree?

many would agree that is a good thing.Other guys have reported getting duplicates and omissions in their C Man sets. They'll make it right for you.
8mm - 9mm wtf, it's all english to a chinaman![]()
Personally I hate craftsman wrenches unless Im using the box end or the fastener is loose-ish.
Be careful with those sears codes. I entered the sears2011 $5off code and it raised my shipping by $4.92. Considering I was buying extra "junk" to get that code and then free laborday shipping (which wouldnt work either even though I had over $100). I deleted all but what I really wanted and they lost about $70 in additional sales because they were trying to F me on shipping. I considered shooting an email off but realized I have better things to do. They would probably blame me anyway.
Then I went to store to pick up my gearwrenches today and the set was missing a wrench. The stock delivery boy felt compelled to argue with me that the 8mm wasnt included even though it had a spot for it and the packaging clearly stated 8mm. I was even going to wonder back into the tools and look for more goodies until that fiasco...more lost income for sears.
Circling the drain.
I see Sears also has the 28 pc. box end set on sale.

This is a pretty good deal for those who need a set of this size.
$70.28 in goods.
7% OH sales tax
$4.92 in tax
LOL, I won't say "no offense" 'cause I mean it, you're a *******...it was the sales tax that you were seeing.
(Don't worry we've all been there, ESPECIALLY me)

unfortunately youre the ******* for opening your mouth without any facts or because of the inability to comprehend what I did say. My total was over $150. items were $133. Sales tax was somewhere in the neighborhood of $10. shipping was around $10 I dont remember the exact number and I dont remember the exact total, but I had 2 of the reversible gearwrench sets, the gimmicky screwdriver set, and the $50 triangle set.
I added everything to my cart including the shipping and sales tax, added the free shipping code and it wouldnt take. Most likely because the triangle set is clearance out. I understood and tried the $5 off code and the price barely changed. I then checked the prices and realized the shipping had gone up by the $4. Because of the ******** shenanigans, I deleted $70 worth of items and picked up my two items in store.
Then I later remembered I had just purchased one of the nice armstrong sets for $30 shipped and was actually glad they pissed me off. Like I said, circling the drain with their piss poor customer service.![]()
Pipsters: I'll bet this is the standard set you're looking for.

I think you're right regarding the value. I'm betting most folks wouldn't have a need for the biggest wrenches.
I also bought that deep offset set you speak of. I will agree, they are awesome, plus made in USA. I almost like them better than my MAC deep offest wrenches.
When buying the wrenches, a guy just needs to make sure he buys the "Craftsman Professional" wrenches as opposed to where it only says "full polish". Only saying full polish = China.
i think craftsman would stab themselves in the foot, if they make the wrenches and sockets outside USA. but i see that coming, someday.
The day has come and gone my friend,Go to sears tomorrow and look at the stickers on the back of the wrench sets.....MADE IN CHINA(In much smaller font of course)

The set I ordered arrived today. Everything was there no shortages or doubles.
This set will hopefully start to reduce me from running back and forth from the garage to the outbuilding for tools all the time.
Thanks for the tip.![]()
If its such garbage, why are you commenting on it. This threads was meant to praise the usa made wrenches for overall value and performanc.eAre these made in China now also like the rest of the C-man garbage?
