I have this jack and I really like it, especially for the price, nice high lifting range with low profile design.

I bought a Matco floor jack 22 years ago and it has seen lots of use and has never failed me, I have never had to replace any seals or anything. Of course it was made in America back then like most things were.

I have this jack, has used it for about 6 months, I know it is new and I know it is a import, I figured for the price and the costco warranty it is worth a shot. i think it is worth the money, other places have it for twice the price as costco for the same jack

Every pump on the handle on the arcan at my local Costco created a low sqeeking noise. When I released the jack, it sqeeked all the way down.

Prob. Been asked but cant search on my phone.. are these rebuildable?

Theres no doubt in my mind the seals can be sourced thru 1 outlet or another, There WONT be a Rebuild kit available as it will have to be pieced together. The Main problem im finding with the newer Import stuff is the Metal fitment and quality isnt up to par, They were never designed to be able to be taken apart and put back together like the older Imports. Ive encountered numerous pulled threads, Cracked Tank nuts and just poor fitment issues.

Thanks for the quick response Hiball,

I am more than likely going to pick one up tomorrow as I found them at my local Costco. Even though I am only going to use it lightly (removing wheels for cleaning/light mechanics) I wanted to know what to expect if it ever should need to be serviced.

Thanks again!

Hello folks,

Curious to find out if everyone who bought the Costco floor jacks are still happy with them...

Any problems?
Would you buy another one?
Would you recommend one?

Thanks in advance!

Been using one for a few months. Solid build. Smooth up and down. Easily gets under my corvette with good reach to various lifting points. Enough lift to work well with my SUV.

There was a few members who have issues with the jack as i received some PM's in regards to them. It ended up not being a issue as they just exchanged it, Keep your Receipt.

I have that same jack, except mine is black and came from northern tool and cost $150.

I love it. Great HD jack. My only complaint is the weight. 109lbs is heavy to pull around on a ruff floor.

now if anyone could tell me if they sell it at columbus store? I like this a bit more than the harbor freight jack I was going to get (whatever the most high end alluminum racing jack is)

Thanks guys. Only store I know of in columbus is all the way up at polaris but for a cool jack I could make the drive. Besides It is a good way to spend the day with the girlfriend. And there is a huge sears at polaris that I always get to drag her in :)

THANKS

Sean,

The jack is only available in the store, not online.

I pulled the trigger and bought one to compliment my 2-ton Sears aluminum jack, which I have had and used (with great success) for 5 years.

For $89.95, plus accounting for the Costco return policy, I felt it was too good to pass up (but I am saving the box and receipt, just to be safe).

So far I have put it through the wringer, through almost 20 up-down cycles. No problems whatsoever. One of my biggest concerns was how well it would release and let down the load; I am pleasantly surprised at how gently it releases. I purchased it mainly to use with my Kwiklift, so the next project will be modifying the cup (or fabricating an adapter) to conform to the lifting bar on the Kwiklift.

Cheers, Ken

Can someone who already owns this jack let me know if this cross beam adapter is compatable? The pin in the adapter is 1 1/8" diameter. http://stores.toolzunlimited.com/Items/LD-4002?CAWELAID=550045017
I have to use the adaptor to properly lift a Corvette.
Thanks, Rich

On mine, the screw that holds the lifting pad in place fits into a threaded 22 mm hole. The lifting pad comes with a rubber insert that sets into the metal pad. I have used it with the rubber insert to lift my corvette. At least on an ’89, there are several lifting locations where a single point floor jack has worked well for me since I bought the car in ‘89. The cross beam adaptor may limit your ability to get the jack under the vehicle without using ramps first.

I would have to remove the pad from the new jack. The 1 1/8" pin on the beam drops through the hole and is secured by a bolt and large washer through the bottom of the pin on the beam. If the hole is only 22 mm. it won't be large enough.

Why do you "need" that to lift your corvette? What year corvette? Ive got a 94 and a 02 FRC and with that jack their is only 2" (max) between the jack pad and jacking locations of the vette. My 02 is lowered and I have to drive up on 2x10's before the jack and the billet jacking puck will fit under.

It would be very hard to get something like that in your link under a vette. C4 & C5 anyway.

I have to elevate the back end (2000 C5) 2" to get my current jack and cross beam under the rear end. I too drive up on two 2" X 10" pieces. Although I've done it, the book (C5) says don't lift the rear with the jack directly under the differential. They want the weight distributed across the aluminum sub-frame. I like the look of the Arcan jack, but if the cross beam won't drop into the hole (after removing the original pad) it won't work for me. I'll just keep the 2 ton jack I'm currently using.

Oh got ya! I thought you wanted to use it from the side. Their are so many myths about jacking C4's that it's not funny. C4's dont have the jacking pucks like the C5's do.

This arcan would be a great jack for that if you can get it to work. Its real long, low to the ground, wide and heavy as hell. I will step outside and snap a picture of mine check it out for ya.

Does the pad lift out? If so how large is the hole it drops into?
Thanks, Rich

No, It has a large threaded hole.
I figured you could machine the hole out larger but it's at least 5/8" thick steel. If you got access to a welder you could always weld a threaded end on the adapter.
Or look for another jack would be the easiest.

Thanks a bunch! Costco is 50 miles round trip for me. I don't think that jack will work for me as much as I'd like it to! The jack I currently use is a two ton and the pad lifts out leaving a 1 1/4" hole so my cross beam adaptor drops right in. I'd hate to buy a new jack and start modifying it.
Thanks again! Rich

This is what I'm now using. The jack is about 10 yrs. old and I'd like to replace it, but it does still work. The bottom of that pin is threaded to accept a 5/8 bolt.

Honestly, I assumed this jack was like that as well. Ive never even took the rubber pad out to see.

Harbor freight sells a jack very similar to this one. You might want to check them.
Just a word of warning, Stay far far far away from the 2-ton craftsman aluminum jack. (as seen in pic)
It's the worst jack Ive ever owned and the most expensive. I used it 3 times with no issues, But the 4th time it fell on me. I was putting jackstands under my 94 when it fell. The jackstand went through the fiberglass floor
Sears refused to replace the jack after 90 days and wanted me to pay shipping to have it repaired. Never even got an "I'm sorry" for my vette.
Latter on I found 100's of sears reviews where people where having the same issues.

The wife bought me aluminum racing jack 3 yrs. ago, but I certainly don't trust it. I like the Costco jack and they have 9 in stock for around $90 bucks. Maybe I'll buy it and modify the beam.

$90 is a steal on this jack. I paid $150 for mine. It's a beast. Everything has very thick steel and it sets very long and low to the ground.

Like I said before my only complaint is the weight. With it being 110lbs and 1/2" off the ground, it's good for smooth surfaces only. (unless your a hoss)
But that's also a good thing. Once you have it where you want it, it's not going anywhere.

I have the 1.5 ton Arcan aluminum racing jack and it's a great jack, But it has the same type of screw in pad as the 3.5 ton model. Must be an Arcan thing..

I think I'll pick one up tomorrow. I'll check a machine shop and see what it would take to reduce the diameter of the pin on the cross beam adaptor. It's welded in pretty well, so there's no way to remove it and chuck it into a lathe. It may be difficult.
