Went into my Costco yesterday and these are 29.99 again. Will wait it out until they come back to 19.99.

Well since you asked..... Some Home Depot's and Lowes will take the unbroken tubes because the tubes contain Mercury so they must be properly disposed. The metal parts can also be recycled in a "metal only dumpster" however if you have only a few fixtures just toss them in your trash since they will rust away in a landfill.

FWIW my local HD stopped taking flo tubes...

Batteries Plus can recycle them. It's about $0.38 per bulb. Just got rid of 12 of them since I switched to LED's. Our town has a drop off center for these items open once a month, but the line is ridiculous.

How long is the plug in cord on these? The pictures make it look like the cord is about a foot long...any real world info on that?

I tried looking through the thread and didn't see an exact answer to this. I started hanging my lights the other night and checked. The cord is about 58" long.

i had a friend pick up 8 for my 30x40x10. wondering if thats enough now

I did 20 in a 25x35x10. I have a couple other lights too... 100 lumens per square foot is recommended for workshops. With 8 lights you'd be just under 25 lumens per square foot.

Hmm that's what I figured. I originally mentioned it when they had the 2 packs on sale and and of course when they went in they had the singles on sale so that's what they got

100 lumens per square foot if you are doing detail work. It has been discussed that 50 per would be find in a garage/shop/hangout/beer drinking space.

I have 8 in my 24x30x 10ft ceilings and not sure i would want it any brighter.

Boxes looked like what I've bought before, when the $10/light rebate was active.

I'll check closer the next time I'm there.

I believe the motion detector ones currently have a $10 rebate bringing them down to $29.99. The ones w/o motion detection that we all have are back and still at $29.99.

At least this is what I remember seeing at my store last week. I'll check again later this morning.

EDIT: Checked and the motion activated ones actually have an $8 rebate, making the final price $31.99. Older non-motion are still $29.99.

I picked up a couple for my dad's birthday gift. Went with the motion detector since it was only 2 dollars more (for now). I have to say they mount up a lot easier than the standard model thanks to the metal bracket design (flush mount option). The adjustability is nice for sensitivity and duration of light - he really likes them! Similar light output to the standard led fixtures.

I can't speak to these lights in general, but I have sworn off the Feit brand due to several premature florescent and led bulb failures. Take it as you will.

How easy is it to convert these to a existing hard wired/flush installation. Can you easily remove the bulbs and punch a hole in the top of the panel to feed existing romex thru?

They're not really bulbs. They're strip LEDs covered by a round frosted plastic lens.

I'm at work and my Costco lights are at home otherwise I'd take a close up pic for you.

We did exactly this in two buddies shops now. They installed standard wiring boxes in the ceiling. We then drilled a hole in the top of the light fixture, cut the power cord short, stripped the covering, and fed them through the hole in the top into the box. Very clean look.

Miami FL COSTCO Wed Nov. 28, on-sale, $20. I've used ten of these at two different locations, and am satisfied with their performance.

Are you hanging these as pendant lamp fixtures? If you are and are just running the shortened lamp cord through a hole drilled in the sheetmetal, have you 'bushed' the hole in the fixture? Some-sort of bushing should be used to prevent the cord from becoming frayed, and shorting to ground.

I am not an electrician, but my wife the E.E. (of 41 years) would never let me do something like that for the house or the garage.

If you buy ten at one time, can you buy ten more at a later date and get the rebate?

It is an "instant rebate" which means they ring up at $19.99 at the register. I don't know why they call it in a instant rebate instead of just saying they're on sale.

So yes, you can buy 10 at a time. I don't recall if there's a limit per customer, but there may be.

I'm considering getting some of these for my shop/garage, but I'm torn about getting something nonservicable. It does seem as though at $20, they're half as much as a T8 fixture with a pair of LED bulbs. Decisions, decisions.

Get them. I have four of them, 3 in my shed and one in my garage above my bench. They are great.

Buy one or two spares and you'll self insure for $40.
