Yeah, I've seen sellers too where you would think they missed a decimal point somehow, but they really seem to think they have gold...

Most likely set the price that high to see what sort of offers he will get without selling himself short. Tactic that I think will work probably not, but who knows. I usually sort by ending soonest and new, and by lowest price; once I get the price level I stop looking usually.

I see a lot of this on eBay, especially with New Old Stock car parts auctions. It's also all over the place at swap meets such as the Charlotte and Carlisle events.

This type of seller is more interested in showing than selling.

I saw these for 99.99 each at Sears the other day. I plan to get a set to use at work instead of snap on or matco since they are just as nice. Hopefully they arent going extinct.

Common EBay scam, look quick think $99.00 see it all the time

So if you do go through with the buy it now thinking that it was really $100 and not $1000 is there a way to let Paypal or eBay know immediately afterwards and undo your purchase? I know I sure wouldn't be just "oh well, my mistake" about it.

Drugs are badddd.

That is pretty bad but I tend to think the guys selling HF coupons are worse. The one below is a free friggin coupon now bid up to $90 WTF!? And there are loads of auctions like this, crazyness.

Thats just idiots not reading the description. Thinking they're bidding on the actual item. This idiot makes money off these morons everyday.

Maybe I should starting selling my HF coupons online....:D

I have bought many coupons online from ebay, but usually they are $0.99 shipped and savings are much much higher then that.

Maybe he is throwing out that price and one with the best offer win?

Before I stumbled across my Cman Prof Metric Set, I was bidding on one via Ebay a few weeks ago, I think it went to the 150 range.

My tops was 125. I needed a set for the Home box as I was tired of lugging my SO set home a few times a week. I picked up my SO set for $150 Brand new off Ebay.

I say you do buy those sets and Ebay them...let the best GJ'er win.

August 11th is Friends and Family BTW.

I should go buy the ones at my local store and sell them for half of what he is asking and see what happens

But are the ones you find on the shelves Made In USA? I think thats what sellers are doing. Hoping to strike gold by reeling in a sucker that wants a USA set? I'd love to have that USA set, but not crazy enough to break the bank for 'em.

That set of Craftsman USA made cross force wrenches he has listed for $599 is impressive. You just don't see those that often. I bought my set SAE and Metric 16 wrenches combined off of Ebay a few weeks ago for $55. I can't imagine paying $600 for the same wrenches. I also can't understand anyone paying for HF coupons when you can download them for free off the HF website.

Too many other good quality USA made tools out there at much lesser prices to bite on someone's stupidity. I think this guy has been around for a while, if I'm not mistaken he's the same one that was trying to sell a bunch of lots of Craftsman Professional screwdrivers that had been recently been put on clearance for $9 a set (this was 2 years ago before anyone gets excited) and was trying to get $70-80 a set for them.

There again, I've been to a ton of yard sales where you can pick up S-K, Wright, Williams, Proto, etc., for pennies on the dollar, and then they charge a premium for the Craftsman stuff. I literally had one seller ask me why I was loading up on all of this "junk" when he had several nice Craftsman sets for sale. I used it as leverage to get an even better price on all of the "junk" sockets and ratchets. :D

I thought about listing the coupons with the codes just to annoy the people selling the coupons.

As for the listing price WAY over what they are worth...it only takes 1 person to make it worth it. Even if you have to wait forever and a day...

Yes they are the old USA made ones. They are behind a bunch of Chinese sets. Next time you go to sears look behind all the **** and you may find gold.

Wasnt there a thread up yesterday that mentioned that you can still get US made "professional" craftsman from their industrial catalog? I mean I get it, cash out while you can but still. I find it to be just silly.

eBay itself is a silly place...just search "used socks" and look at the completed listings. Makes USA Craftsman that's way overpriced to me seem normal. You can sell ANYTHING on ebay, and there's a sucker born every minute. I can't tell you how many Dollar Tree things I've found listed on eBay. They certainly weren't selling them for a dollar either. :lol_hitti

Why do people get worked up over ASKING prices? He can ask anything he wants. That doesn't mean he's going to sell any merchandise.
