Craftsman Pry Bar Set

Saw the Craftsman 3 piece prybar set was on sale to club members for 19.99 this week, so I stopped by to pic up a set. Noticed it is Made in USA and upon further inspection, it has a small WH stamped on each bar. Was wondering if this was the OEM. Anyone know what this means?

Also, any comments on quality? I figured it had to be at least as good as harbor freight!

the hard handled pry bars are made by Wilde, the soft handled with striking caps are made for Craftsman by Mayhew.

Ive been making due with some Pitsburg ****, I think I'll be happy with these for a long while. Glad to hear they hold up.

Not that great of a deal they were $16 on black fridays.

black friday is once a year, they go on sale for $19.99 at least 4 times a year otherwise.

I love mine, the hard plastic cleans easy and they are stiff enough not to worry about em bending when doing work.

I saw this set when I was at a Sears on Saturday. That is a damn good buy for 20 bucks. Too bad I already got some MAC TOOLS green guys, else I would have to look at these real serious like. I saw some bars on eBay that were selling for more, but I think they were black if memory serves me correctly. Wonder what was so special bout them? Anyways, these red ones look pretty good, and with the warranty and all, gotta say not bad at all Craftsman, not bad.

Besides direct from Mayhew the only other source for straight tips i've seen is off the trucks.

I will not be back in our local sears store again. I have in the past bought a lot of tools through the craftsman club..right in the store. They have always honored it.

Today: I walk in, find these pry bars on the shelf. Go to the check out. Show the lady the craftsman club card and the discount price. She says we cannot sell it to you for that. You either have to pay full price or you have to order it online and have it shipped to you (and pay the shipping).

I also spoke to the manager. Same thing..they will not honor the craftsman club prices in this store. I told him I have been buying craftsman tools in their store since I was 16 (45 now). I told him that if they no longer honor the craftsman club prices..I have no need to ever set foot in their store again. I am very angry!!!!!!

I had an issue once before over the club price with some salesman, but the manager told him to honor the prices. I am done with this store.

I won't be in another town that has a sears store until after the sale is over...so I guess I won't get them.

Call their regional/district manager. Unless it was an independently owned "Sears Hometown" store, I don't see how they have any choice but to honor Sears corporate pricing.

Obviouslly they do not care. I overhead them tell some guy he would have to send his broken ratchet off to some "repair center" (at his own cost). They do not replace tools that are broken.

I will no longer go into this local store. Period. I am off for the summer (teacher), but I will use the sears store in the town I work in. They are nice people. I have dealt with them before with broken tools. However, I cannot justify driving 100 miles round trip just for these pry bars (even though I need them). LOL

Refusal to honor the warranty is another violation of company policey. Every Sears that I have ever been into either repairs or replaces broken tools. As stated in another post I'd go up the chain of command. Get the names of those who are refusing and report them

Now as far as the prybars, since you're dealing with bad empolyees in that particular store, you could buy on line and do a store pick-up to get the sale price. You can even do this at the store at one of computer terminals

If you really want to jerk a knot in someones tail do this.

Apply for a sears charge on line. Once you get approved order the pry bar set and pick up in store.

Then tell those who did you wrong that you got a sears charge online. You would have done this in the store but they were being jerks.

The store manager, dept manager and associates are graded on the number of credit applications they turn in.

You can always cancel the card afterwards

Its ok, I will either find a relative or not worry about the bars at this time. Sorry for venting in this thread. I was more than a little angry at the local store. They are a great deal for about half of what they wanted here ($39.99).

Yea that's what I thought too. I bought a set of the rebranded knipex pliers on crafty club sunday and they automatically came up with discounted price

No worries. I would have a friend go get them like others have stated. If Sears is acting like that where you are from, it has to be bad management or some other sorry excuse. I am in a big city, and if anyone was treated that way, I am sure some heads would roll

Thanks for the suggestion. I just found out it is listed as a "hometown" store. It says nothing about that on the building nor anywhere inside.

I have a profound hearing loss so could not make a phone call. However, I found an E-mail address.

I am very hard of hearing, so I do not have a phone number.

I am a member of the craftsman club. I have been for many years. I have always gone into the local store and picked up the specials off the rack and they rang up (with my card) the correct sales price.

My e-mail says shop in store or online.

I went into the local store today. I picked up the 3 pry bar set off the shelf (Sears Item# 00943278000 | Model# 43278). They are listed as $19.99 for club members.


I went to the checkout..where the lady rang it up at $39.99 (minus around $3 club discount), plus tax. I explained to her the correct club price. She had some gentleman look it up on their computer. They refused to sell it to me for the club price. They both said I had to order it online and pay whatever shipping (when I had the set in my hand).

The E-mail clearly says IN STORE OR ONLINE...yet they refuse to honor this club prices.

I do not have a credit card to order online. What can I do about this?
