I was waiting to update till we changed but it took longer.. ( who knew? )

wallpaper is being put on, outside of the house is almost done, painters left some windows open and it rained.. wood floor fucked up for the second time, I hired a guy to pull it out to check amount of damage.

Pics tomorrow with a proper description.

I'd either sue or kill, or both. In that order.

just got back from the house.. there was a lot of people working and I did not feel like taking pictures of the house with a bunch of guys running around...

I will go back on sunday and post the update on the night.

Also catched that one of the biggest windows of the house is about to fall off from its sitting.. about to break.. so I catched that?

I guess everything bad happening is just because I am telling it.. or caring about it... I don't know.. I don't even get mad now. I just want to move and finish stuff myself. ( the things I can ). Other stuff I just want to be done asap with any quality level.

Im fine.... Im fine...

We tend to focus on the bad stuff too much. It's the way of most of the world. Just listen to the daily news broadcast if you dare, it's all who shot john and how many disasters were there today. Never any good news.
I'm sure there are many good things happening at the house too with all the workers there. When you do that update on Sunday just focus on the good stuff that got accomplished this week and see how many you can list.

Sorry for the lack of commitment on the Sunday update.. I could not go because It was heavy raining and the city becomes a parking lot.

Then I went on a small 4 day vacation.

I arrived, went and took pictures, downloaded them to the pc and said.. What a bunch of crappy pictures.

Yet today I gathered enough balls to come here and show ****.
( I think I'm fighting depression or something )

In no particular order because I have lost track of time and anything I have said before.

**********************

Have you lurked in others threads and see a bunch of garages full of **** and an all around mess and say, that would be cool to clean up and refresh the garage..

I have one of those in development!
D13.0724s.jpg

I can't wait to move and start cleaning that out, putting it in other place all perfectly organized just to put it back there just like it is now.

ahhh my domains... Cant wait to fill it with a lot of cars that I will never finish. Install detailing accesories for cars that I will never wash. Complain of the stupid idea of putting a black floor and all that great stuff! I want it all!
D13.0725s.jpg

This is a in progress shot of the fake wall to cover the great guillotine idea.
D13.0726s.jpg

Final result and overall finish of the outside front.
D13.0727s.jpg

D13.0728s.jpg

Fence was removed after I took that picture, I will take a proper lens next time and take a good picture.

Look at that gloss, man those garbage bags really have a deep black.
D13.0729s.jpg

D13.0730s.jpg

Only took 1.5 years to get that glossy.

Stairs.......

D13.0731s.jpg

I was a very patient person, I swear this woodman changed me for ever.
Not only I have paid for those stairs twice, they are still not finished and the quality is nothing of my expectations.

Im getting quoted for granite covers.. If price is right I will plug it.

Wallpaper as I said is getting on, changing the house for sure.. feels way more finished now.. even if some of them are not entirely well installed.

D13.0732s.jpg

D13.0733s.jpg

D13.0734s.jpg

D13.0735s.jpg

D13.0737s.jpg

D13.0736s.jpg

most of them are textured and I cant stop touching them... Like I will get a floor covered, get naked, and just roll there...

Main dress room is half of the bathroom.. look at the condition of the floor, I can't wait to get it clean to show every ******* swirl and scratch the woodworkers did.

D13.0738s.jpg

Also got shades installed on all the house.. they make a difference too.. They hide me from the neighbors.

D13.0739s.jpg

and that is it for now...

On the list:

Friday/Sunday, install new wood floors ( damaged areas )
Monday/Tuesday, DEEP ACID CLEAN of the entire house.
Wednesday/Thursday/Friday, wallpaper installing.

Next year, continue above.

Even with the flaws you see, it is still an amazing home that will always be very cool and something you can say you spilled more tears over than blood...unless that mean neighbor is somewhere in the concrete.

Long process yes but, the pictures show it is looking more like a home every day and not just a project. Keep moving forward.

Oh, and you can skip the pictures of rolling naked on the wallpapered floor. :shocking:

:lol_hitti

This immediately made me think of this scene, specifically the "furry walls" part.

House is looking good man!

Actually you could say "...it's not that amazing considering how many years ending in 7 have passed."

REKTD

LCD, it will eventually be done. The new question is, will it be done before the house going up next door to yours?

Oh please, there are like 20 new houses that started way after mine... NO JOKE.. I'm past that drama now :)

The house is still beautiful. Your garage is cleaner than mine at the moment. Don't fill bad about the quality. Here in the States it's normal to pay (sometimes extra) for crappy construction work.

Ok Small update for you, big step for me.

Remember those horrible wood cover steps for main stairs?.. yeah they are staying for now...

But I did bail on the lower covers, got quoted for granite and pulled the trigger.

4 days later.. yes FOUR days later it was done, if only wood guys were as good as this granite guy.

D13.0740.jpg

D13.0741.jpg

As you know I have been dealing with the "you have to move now and finish there or you will never move and hence never finish"

After I got call that the granite was done, as soon as I saw it I felt a rush of fear and excitement like I have never had before on this house. This was the final piece that made the click on the allow button on my brain to let me feel it was "ready". I don't really know how to explain it but it just did. I felt relief even that I know the house still has a lot to be done yet.

So, I started to check final "able" to move in details, like water supply, gas supply, working fridge etc...

This is when some days ago I went to check if the water heater was working.

I bought some basic bosch system which consists of a solar heater and a bypass gas heater with some thermostat thing to switch between the two.

First of all I went to the hardware store 3 times ( different days ) for D sized batteries because the thing was "not" powering on.

Then after some fiddling with it, the thing does not show any signs of being on until it actually goes on to burn gas... (RIP) So it was on all the time since the beginning and the stock batteries must have been good to begin with.

Anyway.. I see it starts but it wont stay on because the water from the solar heater keeps going in hot enough to not trigger it.

What would you do...

I switched off the pump, opened both kitchen taps on full hot, expected to drain the solar tank.

The smaller sink on the kitchen was making a mess of water all around, allt he water lines have a lot of little stones that the pump is pulling from the tank ( have to add a filter ).

So I had a plastic bag in hand and a very VERY tired brain. I put some tape on the bag and make somewhat of a cover for the tap to not spray the whole kitchen and just have water on the sink right..

Cool...

I went to the basement to check the water heater turning on when the solar water tank depleted.

around 10 mins pass by.

I can hear water clinging in the lines, tank must be empty now...

switch on the pump, and right on as soon as water starts flowing the heater starts ignition ( have not been able to get it to burn yet ).. shows an error code and immediately turns off again.

I'm devastated, not only the heater did not work but now there is warm water coming from the solar system again ( wow that efficiency ).

Feeling kinda bad that the heater did not properly work I went up to close the taps and think of a better strategy.

Of course...

D13.0742.jpg

Kitchen flooded.

I almost felt the need to just sit slowly in the water and lay in it, like some kind of darkness waiting to consume me as my clothes absorb more and more water.

The plastic bag that I very stupidly put as a guard, fell off and created a perfect seal on the sink ( like where is my brain when I need it ).

All the drawers on the island were FULL of water, and I don't mean like they had drops of water in them, they were full closed dams.

I had 2 options...

1.- the most reasonable one, accept defeat and call for backup ( wife ).

2.- try to cry a lesser amount of water than the amount you are absorbing with a tiny little rag you found and a water bucket.

Obviously I went for #2 for a good 30 minutes and then had to accept #1.

Yet, my wife was very excited to clean because she barely visited the house, which made me rethink my life as a husband, but that is a story for another day.

Here I am.. In the verge of moving, already took 4 SUVS full of boxes and filling the garage quickly.

More updates as things evolve. But as I said.. massive step for me now.

PS: Well ****.. now that I have cars inside the garage it is not big enough..

On the bright side, you didn't have to bend over as far to empty the water from the drawers.

Almost forgot -- a bucket left in the sink to fill acts as a very effective stopper as well. Leaving for twenty minutes yields very similar results.

I knew you would not let me down Bob

As a general rule never leave running water unattended. Something always goes wrong with it.

Yeah that is true, I once tried to fill a pool, left the tap open, when I came back the pool was empty, turns out the tap closed itself.

nah not really, but it could happen!

I'm going to miss your Build, Break and Repeat stories. I know, I didn't include Drive but I don't think you included any of that either.

From now on it's smooth sailing and worry-free fun.

Yes I do have some terrible ideas.. I don't know how soon I will be able to begin tho as everything is a learning process.

I have a huge list of small details to fix. Been working on that.

But yes, I have been feeling this weird thing inside my body, I think its called excitement... I would not know as I carry too much baggage

Today I only have one thing to show you...

Remember this blonde thing?

#########

The framing for the exterior board concrete.

D13.0541s.jpg

i have not decided if i will leave it like that, clear it or stain it but i love it.

looks very nice. What are you plans for it?

thanks! It will be the table/cover of the storage bar.

Well, I asked for a skin change and turned it into a brunette... It has a bit of character now, looks older and it is way bigger than I anticipated.

D13.0746.jpg

And a couple of night shots of the gold wallpaper ( not actual gold, this is not UAE )...

D13.0745.jpg

D13.0744.jpg

Images are taken from the bottom because I'm hiding stuff that is on top of the "fireplace"...

Ill be back with more.. as soon as I stop getting overloaded by the amount of stuff I have to do..

Ever had so much to do that you just can't start?... yep..

Glad you are moved in and making progress on the list of home owner tasks. It will never end but you will enjoy each improvement. Nice work on that bar top from the extra lumber.

it is definitely a step in the right direction... looking nice!

Thank you sir!, and yes finally...

LCG, are you telling me you stained and varnished the 740i?
bob.fireplace.jpg

Oh Bob, that does not even begin to describe that fireplace, I hired a 200 year old Japanese master fabricator that carefully took every panel of the 740, shaped it to the form of wood planks and hand engraved the metal as wood grain. The stones inside the fireplace were made with pieces of engine in Agrabah, this guy called Aladdin has hundreds of flawless skinned virgins that shape the aluminum bits with their bare hands, eroding them till they look like rocks, the process is so meticulous that if one of the girls loses her virginity while she is working there, the rock gets crushed and sold as broken dreams dust.

Glad you are moved in and making progress on the list of home owner tasks. It will never end but you will enjoy each improvement. Nice work on that bar top from the extra lumber.

Yes, its good to finally make 2 steps forward that don't push you back, because well, now that we live there everything you do, even if you **** it, is actually an improvement

Cheers everyone, you all finally have a home here.
