I attempted to melt my credit card over the last couple of weeks
I have acquired three different roller toolboxes and one tool chest box over my life time, I still have them and they are all in great condition, but I have wanted for a long time now to eliminate the three boxes, buy one large one, then down size and organize everything into one large one, so after doing a bunch or research and pricing I settled on the 72" wide US General toolbox from Harbor Freight, the drawers are 22" deep and the over all height is 44" and hey it comes in
BLUE
This box is a beast! it weights in at 528 pounds. I'm really happy with it so far
My OCD has now kicked into over drive
I ordered Kaizen foam for all the draws, Kaizen is a Japanese term meaning "change for the better" or "continuous improvement", some call it shadow foam, once I get all my tools organized I will cut recesses in the foam to hold each tool.
I started with wanting to organize all my bits, so I purchased one of Milwaukee's low profile Packout cases, I really like these cases! then I fell down the Youtube rabbit hole watching all these videos of guys with 3D printers making custom compartments for these cases to organize everything imaginable, so I ordered some custom 3D printed low profile compartments with bit holders.
Man this is OCD orgasmic satisfaction
I started out with the top drawer, I lined it with a piece of the Kiazen foam, then added my tape measures, knives, screwdrivers and a few others, the Packout case fits perfect in the top right drawer.
I will wait until I get the whole toolbox and all my tools organized before I cut any foam, the layout could change several times
I got the foam in the second drawer and this will be my Craftsman wrench drawer, these are all my older Craftsman wrenches before they cheapened them up, I added my open end adjustable wrenches in the drawer next to the wrench drawer along with my flare nut wrench set.
In the second drawer down in the center will be my Channellock drawer, I love my Channellock tools
The third drawer down in the center will be my socket drawer, I will leave my sockets in the trays, but I will cut some foam for along the front to hold the ratchets and extensions in there.
I have all my hammers and saws in the next drawer, I'm not sure if I want to use this drawer for the hammers, the drawer is deep and seems like a waste of vertical space? My Eastwood body hammers and dollies fit nicely in one of the right hand drawers
This is as far as I got so far, maybe I will get some more organized this weekend
