I am in the process of painting my floor with standard, everyday Behr garage floor paint. :(Though i did acid/prime and tomorow I'm gonna paint it. No time/patience at this time for the epoxy and it sounds like I'll just brutalize epoxy anyway.
More importantly the weather is "Cold" here in Canada this time of year (project just ran too late) and I need the shop. So I'll take the epoxy back. Protect the floor best I can. & Maybe do it all again when it warms up. I'll see how the floor holds up.
As for a design I was thinking silver-gray around the edges about 8 inches wide, then silver-gray for a 2 foot strip, and then just paint the centre silver-gray to keep the pattern consistent.

You could do like I do in my barn and just start a fire on the floor in the middle of the room. :lol_hitti

I checked out your garage/project. Very, very well done, I don't believe I have your patience,
""or that nice a shop""!!!
For me it's the whole time and patience thing. I do want a "nice" shop and I believe it will be. It def. won't be the showroom/showoff palace. Just clean and workable. I also need to get the toys inside, I'm more itching to get at the toys than keep grinding away at the garage.
" i've reached my point of diminishing returns..:spit:

Possibly, and if it is way subpar. I'll have gone the long way around.
One thing is for sure.....I'll get a result. I'll post and let you know how it turns out, tomorrow and also under the high intensity usage it will have to endure.
Ok not really "high intensity", just everyday auto, farm and fun stuff.
It'll all be good, soon as I'm in the shop!!!!!
I am about to possibly trade for "instant gratification"...for..."long term dissatisfaction"

Can't wait to see the finished pics. I like the idea of using cheap paint because I'm going to destroy the floor no matter what it's made out of, and cheap paint is always easy to touch up.

Ok, I am tryin to get stuff gone in the freakin cold. And I may not end it all.
Took a few hours to prime 2-3hrs (SAT.), then the behr 1 part epoxy ???
(1 part epoxy??? that still slays me!!!) took about 6 hrs to put on (SUN), the second coat took 2 guys about 2.5 hrs.(MON)
It looks good, no super shine, used the grippy sand. But looks very good, having said that "it is" new, the "truth" will be in how it holds up!!!!Priddis Shop Dec 03 09_001.jpg

I 'one-part-epoxied' (yeah, I'll agree on the terminology) our old garage floor 10 years ago. It's pretty rough now, especially with all the tire pull-ups and race car drooling all over it, but it is still MUCH better to work on, and sweep up than bare concrete is. We U-Coat-It our shop, and the floor is much, much better, but I would much rather do the paint stuff than have to deal with bare concrete any more.

You'll like it. It'll stain, pull up by tires sitting on it, and scratch, but it is still waaayyy better than bare concrete, and, you get to use the shop NOW!

You bet CrashTest, I will admit I'm curious to see how it lasts, wears and touches up. But most important is I get to use it. Which necame a very good thing as it has been blizzarding here in Alberta for the last two days!!

We had a blizzard here, too! Dang near an inch-and-a-half of snow. Biggest flakes I've ever seen, too. I don't remember seeing flakes this big when we lived in Ohio! They must've been a couple of inches across.

Oh, and it FROZE here, too!! It took us a couple of hours to cover everything. We wanted to make sure the orange, lime and grapefruit trees were protected. I went out to the shop and wrapped the faucet and pipes we've run to it. The 'collection' was safe and dry inside, though.

I worked from home on Friday. Most people around here are rank amateurs when it comes to driving in the snow and ice. I figured I was safer at home.

Wow CTD that's pretty cold for where you are. I've rode cutting horses in the Weatherford area....and your south of there. No kidding it would be a mess. not sure how much snow we got here but it's lots 6-8 inches , plus blowing and drifting. Hope everything worked out for you through the frost!!
The good news is my shop is warm, and the floor is definetly getting it's virginity shattered. Once ya start walking/working on it it just doesn't seem that important anymore. It'll still be interesting.
Here's what it looks like here!!! Oh-yeah it's -11f..!!!!
