I have been in the shop I am in now for 2 days and have worked on two CAT loaders, a
CAT 345D excavator, and a CAT paver. We have about 30 Peterbilts on the lot and about 200 pieces of CAT and John Deere equipment (They are a construction and gravel hauling company)

Are you in Fort Mac? saw that pic in your first post of that 797A

That is a very nice box and setup you have

As for questions, I have 3

1) The screwdriver set circled, is that this set here? http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...roup_ID=682253&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog
Yes it is

2) how often does the cordless screwdriver get used in the industry?
A lot, it is a huge timesaver

3) Do you prefer the Snap On or Matco screwdrivers as I have been looking at both
Honestly it's both. depends on my mood

Welderguy24, picture of the f150 with cab off you put spark plugs. Any reason why you would pull the cab on that for spark plugs?
Every plug broke off and had to be extracted with very little room to work. It actually did not take much time at all to pull the cab

Welderguy24, nice setup. How do you like ND?

My brother has been driving truck somewhere in ND for about two years now. Tells me he is making a killing, laughing all the way to the bank. Personally, I don't think I could handle the winters up there.

Mike.
When i took this new job i moved back to MN but i do like them both, i love winter. you wouldn't get me to go out west on the oil fields though. Too many losers out there.

******** welderguy if my brain is clicking correctly and you are talking freshman year of highschool in reference to your creeper, thats one hell of a collection for a guy in his mid twenties! Nice set up!
Your math is right, turning 24 in a month. And thank you, I take a lot of pride in the things i have worked hard for.

Thanks for the replies. Just picked up a new road box for my pickup (I do a lot of side work and help a friend with his drain tile business). It's empty right now but will get pics up once i get moved into it.

When can we expect this new box to arrive?

It's been here for a little while. Here's teasers of it empty, fresh of the moving van that delivered it. Posting now will help get me motivated to get more pics of the contents up.
Next to the old box:

The power cab loaded up. I found the shelf provided with the work center helped add more tool space. The only issue I had was no good spot for the air saw - I had to make a holster out of chunk of PVC pipe and attach it to the front "wall":

nice hm dr.

Thanks guys!

The work center door is fairly rigid, so you can grab the edge and flip it open form anywhere along its length with no issues - opens nice and smooth.

I'll play... Electric green 68" epiq.

2012-11-19161706.jpg

And to beleive I used to work out of the top and bottom craftsman that's sitting on top of the box! currently the box on top of the snappy is gone. I bought and used a bunch of plastic trays to organize more. Plus the westling socket trays helped big time.

How bout we share a little of what we work on? right now i'm with a construction company that also doubles a dumpster rental service. We got a 2007 international 4300, a 92 cab over mack. A pete tractor, pete tri axle, mack tri axle, 6 chevy duramax pick ups, 7 excavators both big and small volvo, cat, jcb and case., 2 cat dozers, 2 back hoes, 3 front end loaders, a john deere 544h, cat 950g and cat 938. A couple of rollers, and 3 bobcats. how about the rest of you guys!

Is that black instead of polished aluminum on your box? Whats the part number I have yet to find the black finish. I also have a eqiq 68"

not really haha. its never something simple with them. that one the coupler between the engine and pump stripped out. tons of fun 3 hrs from the shop getting it on the trailer

luckily we only have a couple of 417's and 1 other around our territory.

2 have been electrical nightmares, the other 417 has been a miriad of hyd leaks, including a hyd tank with a cracked weld.

i'll quit before i ever do another hyd tank. :eyecrazy:

I can only imagine how bad that tank sucked. V417s are a pain being so small

even after the driveshaft, front diff/axle, and enclosed cab, was removed the f'n thing still wouldnt come out of the frame. :willy_nil

ended up pulling the hyd pump off the hydrostat so the tank would slide over far enough to clear the frame.

seriously,
i have never been that p*ssed off at any piece of equipment in 30 years of wrenching. :shocking:

dontcha just love versahandlers?

It is pronounced "versa junk". 417 are technically nice units if you do not have to do anything to them. Drive belts are a joke to change. Larger 638 and 723 they should of drove them off the boat and straight into the crusher.

Wow haha that sounds terrible. I know doing the coupler sucked on the V723. I'm getting pretty good at rebuilding the front axles after other people put then together wrong.
