ya he moved out there 15+ years ago from Sudbury (talk about an upgrade!). He's an avid photographer like you and posts pics on facebook all the time.

Lots of deer on the island for sure. Its really cool seeing the cruise ships from so close. When we were crossing on the tiny little shuttle ferry a couple cruise ships came through there as well, we obviously had to give the right of way. They come down from Alaska and then port in Victoria before moving on.

Ended up returning that one and finding this guy on clearance at Canadian Tire for the same price. Gardena's quality is top notch, and its German so it can't be that badI'm very happy with the size and function of this one. I'm able to quickly un-click from hose bib attachment and store it with ease.
I read through your thread...VERY nice job by the way...your single looks about the same size as mine, except I have a small bump out on one side where I have built a work bench and where I store my mobile mitre saw cabinet. My garage is probably shorter than yours as I have no bumper clearance at the back wall due to a hot water heater (what WERE they thinking when they installed it there?). There's also a cabinet I built to go beside the hot water heater in the dead space created beside the tank.
Can you tell me if you could wall mount that hose reel you have? From the pics it looks like it has mounting holes, but pictures can be deceiving. I love the size of it. Did it come with the hose? I have a hose I really like (best I've ever used) that I don't necessarily want to get rid of and I've plumbed hot and cold to just inside the garage door, so that's where I currently have my crappy Suncast reel. It's a great set up for me...just pull the hose into the lane. It's the best $100 bucks (cost if PEX and fittings for hot and cold) I spent when I first organized my garage 4 years ago.

Thanks man i appreciate it. Well you "could" mount the reel to the wall but i would suggest using the handle as i have done. This piece isn't for everyone as it is a little bit manual but it for sure fits the bill for me. It is only about 4 inches deep compared to the 8+inch wide regular reels that really didn't work for me. It comes with a slim hose, a great spout and a little 1 meter attachment hose. My hose bib is in an awkward spot, which is now between my large husky cabinet and the husky tool box. I just leave the 1 meter attachment plugged to the bib and just detach from the reel when not in use. It plugs into the middle of the back of the reel to supply the water. It also comes with a little snap in handle to roll it back up. Kinda hard to describe but it works really well to keep it organized while not taking up much room.
Thanks for sharing i always love seeing other peoples garages, especially when pictures are shared, and most especially when its a single. The pics on your second link however gave me an error unfortunately. If your planning on adding improvements you should start up a thread.

Had my GLI in a car show this weekend. First ever Fitted Ottawa low lifestyle car show. It is a mix of people on coils such as myself and others on air. Great show, huge turnout and great mix of cars. Half the fun for me was meeting up prior to the show with one of my local dub clubs and cruising over together.
I unfortunately had "technical difficulties" with my camera, well that's a bit of a stretch, i forgot to put the battery in the camera, lets just say i wasn't pleased with myself haha.

Liking what you have done with the Single garage... Great use of space from what ive seen. Look for my post coming soon. Coming from another VW/Audi Enthusiast. GLI looks super clean
Wow Dubber. I finally got a chance to watch the whole transformation you went through with your garage. So much accomplished in such a short amount of time! gives me some motivation for my re-organization project.

Well thank you, I'm sure it took some stamina to get through it, as there are now a few pages ha ha ha. Its funny how the project evolved and took on a life of its own. I had more modest plans at the start but it turned into a boulder rolling down high, in a good way mind you. Loved the process and the result, and its always great to hear others share the same sentiment.

Alright, I just finished reading this thread from start to finish. I must say that this space turned out great! I'm going to have to steal a few things that you did for my space. I'm gathering some ideas for my single right now.
Acquired some car cleaning products through a variety of sources this week that really brought a smile to my face. A few things I've been meaning to get and a few i had wanted to try.
Used a few of these items to take my show on the road and tackled pop's-in-laws ride, not a crazy job but i committed a couple hours to this. Always great to be able to do a little something for them as they often help us out.

Had my baby in another show last Sunday. That's definitely my favorite part of August, I've got a great show to participate in every weekend. This one was a blast as it was about a half hour drive outside of the city and with such a beautiful day it was a great cruise over with about a dozen other members.
This last one gives a better perspective of the size. There were about 300 cars with a solid mix of both air and water cooled dubs.

Great attention to detail, Dubber. It never, ever, hurts to be nice to your FIL! Mine was a great guy and I learned a lot of life lessons from him.

Thank Ody, yes i completely agree with you. My father lives on the other side of the country unfortunately so its great to have some family close by.
Thanks Shaun, yes the floor was probably the most fun part of the whole project and after owning it for nearly 6 months (have to look back to the actual date lol) i still love it. A little thing like the Race Deck flooring makes walking out, and then staying to hang out in there a fun thing, even in socks as i've no doubt mentioned before.
Attended another show over the weekend, one i've been looking forward to for the whole summer. The show was about a 5-6 hr drive from me so it was the first time i've taken my GLI this far from home...Wifey wanted to come with me which made the trip into a great weekend commute to the Toronto area.
The show was only for German brands; VW, Audi, Porsche, BMW and Mercedes and probably had about 500+ cars in the judged area. Really great turnout with a whole selection of Vendors, along with a sound off for stereos, a Dyno set-up and an auto-cross as well.
Here's a couple that I snapped of mine....
Oh yea......and I came home with some hardware! Won first place for my category, which really took me off guard as there were probably about 40 in my class. It was funny standing near the "stage" while they announced all of the winners and when they called my name, my first reaction was only when the group i was with started to congratulate me, great moment for sure, and especially having my wife there to share it with (made it worth her while as she put it hahaha).
EDIT: I really should have snapped a pic of the garage today as it was a disaster! I think i had everything out and put to use. Driving home last night and getting in around 11pm meant that i had a whole selection of bugs all over the front of the car. Attacked those and cleaned up the Golf today as well, great day to be outside for sure.

Gotta say, this is one of my favourite singles. I really like the way everything ties together and quite simply, puts the cleanliness of most other garages to shame (including my own). It's always neat to see what people do with a single car garage, gotta get creative. Do you find yourself "purging" the place often?

Thanks man, it means a lot to hear that. As I am working with such a finite amount of space, every possible addition to the garage has to be methodically planned to ensure i can accommodate the item. If i fail to take into account where it will be stored, then my tight little single will start to look cluttered in no time. Case in my point with my last large (for me) detailing product acquisitions meant that i now had larger 5 gallon pails to store which didn't fit where i had kept my old (smaller) ones. This meant something had to get bumped out of the garage, which coincidentally wasn't really garage related or needed, but it just shows how restricted i am for space in there. All of my bulky items were purchased knowing the exact dimensions of my large Husky cabinet, such as the shop vac, fridge, compressor, stool, used micro fiber bin and 5 gallon pails. I know that if i stay strict with that policy i will be able to enjoy my garage as a great place to detail, tinker, hang out and store my GLI at the same time.
And to specifically answer your question, yes I definitely do purge products and or items on a regular basis.

Great build! It's been said a lot but ill say it again the floor looks great and that's one clean garage. I'm always impressed when people maximize the space like you have done.
