New 3sdms look good; I also prefer the chrome trimmed rubstrips though. The black doesn't look bad on a dark color like PG though.
This method worked great for me.
Just use a paint scraper. Insert between a coupling and angle it to one side. You will find out which direction works. This will release the connection with next to no effort. Then just do this at each connection. You easily get into a rhythm and it doesn't take much time. I think it took 5 minutes max to undo and move the section over.
Very clean...I like the blue one too
That's how a VW is supposed to look ....love the garage too btw but I'm noticing a trend, almost all the garages I've subscribed have the red/black racedeck lol

Dubber, damn your car is nice!
And of course all of the very cool garages have the Red/Black/Graphite (or Blue) in them. (At some time in the future my garage will have Red/Black/Graphite).![]()
really a fan of those wheels!! i have some 17" Exor's on my gold wagon, but those wheels of yours sure would look good!!! clean ride man.
Thanks!
Yea the blue one is the same model as mine but in Blue Lagoon. After seeing my car he is placing an order for black euro rub stripsOur special edition GLI only came in 4 colours; Platinum Grey (mine), Blue Lagoon, Black Magic, and Tornado Red (only available in the US).
Pretty sure the US got reflex silver too
** Edit, after looking for this, I could not find them. I could have sworn seeing many RS GlI's running around here. Maybe I was thinking of the 337's or 20th GTI's
Exor's are nice for sure, and somewhat rare which is always a bonus. Only negative i would see is that they may be a pain to clean with all of the spokes. Is it a Mk4 wagon? I've always had visions of having one of those as a daily. So useful. And Thanks!
It's a 2001 Wagon w/ a 1999.5 ALH diesel 5-speed in it. Previous owner did the swap, and a good one at that. The Exor's were obviously not stock, but I found a deal (<$500 shipped) on excess dealer stock wheels that were untouched that I couldn't pass them up.
I chose the wagon over a C5 vetter because of the storage potential. The wagon came w/ a trailer hitch and other than being a bit low, there are NO issues hauling my little 4x8 trailer with it! Plus the car is just a hoot to drive and when I get my coil overs on it soon, it will be even more fun!
I "unfasten" one or two tiles and then REEF on one half which basically rips the two sections apart in less than a second. But, to each their own...lol
That's sort of what we were doing during installation, but then we noticed that the snap locks on the red tiles were breaking when we did that. I wonder if whatever they do to make them red makes them weaker somehow b/c we didn't break a single snap lock on the grey or black tiles.
******, and exactly why i never attempted that aggressive approach. Have you tried the paint scraper yet?
No, I haven't had the need to take the floor apart yet. Sadly a vehicle has not been parked in my garage yet, and there likely won't be for a while until our landscaping gets fixed and a driveway put in. Hoping to start on that project in 3 weeks, but we need the weather to cooperate and let the ground dry out.
More pics please!
I definitely understand your priorities. Best of luck completing the fix.
hahaha, i'll do my best, but nothing this week, we've had major rain all week. Also i've been preoccupied prepping our house which we are planning on listing Monday.
Does the listing mean you'll be into a new Garage project soon?
I wish i had exciting and tangible news. Our current plan (hahaha) is to get a firm offer before committing to something new, soo hard to resist though. Likely a new build but I'm cruising the market for currently listed properties on a daily basis. There are a few double garage options, which is obviously ideal, and a few singles with a 3 foot bump in the width, which on a single is huge.
Still can't get over the price to have a home within the city. Even though a giant garage is tempting, i just can't justify a long daily commute into work.
This is a question I've asked myself, but I'll ask it to you since you will be selling long before I will. Would you plan on taking your race deck with you, or would you list it as a negotiable option with the sale of the house?
I always thought that when I sell my house (our current plan is to stay in this house for roughly 8 years), I would say my race deck was not included b/c guaranteed the people are going to want it once they see it, and then use it as part of negotiations.
I really need to clean mine up and get her out to a gathering soonNice Jetta Dubber! I love MK4 GLI's!
Here's a pic of my old MK3, i did a ton of work to it. It was pretty clean for a 96! I also swapped a 0 kms VR in it

The daily diesel just received a small tweak. Put in some H&R sport springs that not only help with the ride tremendously but brought it down 1.5" which is just perfect. I'm not sure why but it seems that every new VW i get comes higher than the last one. I'm really liking the look and feel of the change.
That's a nice look! I don't doubt it makes a big difference.
Do the new springs last! I swapped my Q45 springs for a set of Eibachs but the fronts broke after a couple of years.

I'm hoping they last haha. I've had H&R springs before and they are great. These shocks are only a few months old as well, so i'm hoping that i'm good.
Thanks pstuart. I used AutoGlym rubber and vinyl care. I really like this stuff because it gives a nice finish without being wet and shinny.
