Nice! You mentioned ceiling height was TBD initially, did you get a measurement on that yet? Looks like you have the room for a mid rise lift at least.

Wow, you have LOTS of ceiling space! I'm jelly about that.. my garage ceilings are only 8'.

And yes as others have said, you have a clean slate to start with, this is going to be a cool build to watch! And yeah.. what's in those boxes? Looks like xmas came early for you.

Open those boxes, don't tease us!

Nice way to end the year!

Hahaha. Yea its certainly amazing. Lots of hard work paying off! Only one box open thus far.

^^That is EXACTLY what I was thinking.:lol_hitti

Congrats and looks like a nice place to start.

Thanks!! We are all on the same wave length it seems.

Looking great.

Only way I will upgrade is if I farm out the next garage build to the point even paint is done.

Is that the dedicated parking arrangement? Or is the beer sessions gonna be held in the middle or one car moved around?

Yes I'm thinking this is the current arrangement. The wagon is the car my wife uses and it makes sense closer to the door. Also the vehicle we use for large purchases of **** lol... The middle bay which has the larger door will be where i do detailing work. Still can't believe how much room i now have. Even with all the garbage and cardboard.

Thankfully this batch was picked up last night by someone needing it for their move.

That place is going to look HUGE when you get some white paint on the walls and ceiling.
Some high bay LED lights would help brighten the place up as well.

Agreed. Jonzing to do that. Finalizing my heat source as we speak which will make the following steps much easier as it gets colder outside.

Nice! You mentioned ceiling height was TBD initially, did you get a measurement on that yet? Looks like you have the room for a mid rise lift at least.

Think it was 9 3/4 feet. I'll do an exact one shortly. Added the measurements of the garage doors.

Definitely came early..... Funny beyond Christmas decorating for my wife, i haven't thought much about Christmas as there has been so much to focus on. I have to say i've really enjoyed sharing our space with all the family and friends who have come by.

Made some progress in anticipation of the install of a gas heater above the rear door. Took that long shelf down the other day. Although it wasn't close to the car, i back the car out just in case as it was heavy and awkward to take down solo.

I didn't realize it before but your dimensions are pretty close to my upcoming build (26'x36'). I wish i had that extra 2' of depth. It always seems like 2' can make a world of difference. I'll be following along to see how you lay everything out.

Just took official measurements for the first time actually. True dimensions are 28’ 7” deep and 35’ 2” wide. The depth is insane to be honest. I want to test out I think I can park two of my S3s tandem.

That's almost 900 m2 in my book. That's huge!

I added an extra "0", I meant 90 m2. Still huge, lol!

Sorry for the off-topic, but since most of you guys in here are from the US, I keep converting your measurements with Google to get an idea of the spaces you are dealing with!

Truly appreciate that. :bowdown:Honestly the growth i've been able to document within this site has been an amazing point of reference to me. Such an amazing platform to share ideas and information. I'm constantly tapping this site as a resource.

My wife keeps referencing it as her dream home which makes this whole process that much sweeter. Especially since we truly only moved as i desired a little more space for activities.

Last night i was able to put in a couple hours of work which made an awesome dent in my to do list.

Tackled taking down the stout built in shelves the previous owner had put in place. Took down the 10 foot shelf a couple days ago knowing this next section would be quite the workout. Thankfully after two hours i was able to see the results i was looking for. If i was someone without a master plan for my space they would have been a perfect storage solution.

Wow, that has got to be a dream house for anyone on this forum. Absolutely beautiful from outside and inside (judging from the interior photo) AND an attached 3 car garage! They must have known that nobody could have done a better job finishing the garage than dubber, so they left it at OSB...

Yea i'm trying to take advantage of any window of time to chip away at this monumental task.

Well said hahaha. Yea its a dream home for us, beyond tiny fixture choices (that we will address later) its pretty spot on.

Congrats! That's a ton of space to keep you busy for a good while. Up next...Dubber's QUAD!

Easy there.... hahahaha, haven't even tackled this beast. I really couldn't imagine a bigger space at this point.

I've been away too long! Wow your new garage is HUGE! I can't wait to follow your new build Dubber.

Hey Chad, yea its quite massive, sooo happy!

I'm hoping that i can impress and inspire.

I love watching your progress

Thank you sir!

Made some solid progress this weekend and started the painting, or pre-painting process. Took a suggestion from a fellow GJ member and purchased Zinsser Cover Stain Oil Base Primer. Bought a can to try and was happy with the result. Back to Home Depot Saturday morning and bought two 5 Gallon pails of it. I've never purchased that much paint in my whole life. The scale of this is quite insane.

I think we're building the same garage haha.

I picked up a stack of those 'skylight' lights from Costco and I'm waiting to pickup some Newage cabinets (also from Costco). Did you go with red or grey cabinets?

Your space is just a painful amount of rolling. Making me hurt just looking at the progress. If you were closer I would say save yourself the aches and come borrow this.

Amazing, you obviously have great taste. Pics to come, stay tuned!

I'm more hyped about this, than I am about Matrix 4 and John Wick 4 premiering the same day :shocking::lol_hitti

That's awesome! hahaha.

I bought a Flexio 590 based on Woody's use of it in his garage. I'm not sure about such a large application as yours, but might be better than a roller, or they may have a larger capacity unit. I've used it on some cabinets and was very happy with the results. You can check it out towards the bottom of page 96 on Woody's thread - https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7057735&highlight=spray#post7057735

Hmm, thanks for the suggestion. Anyone (including you) know if this would work with the Kinsser product i'm using? Or maybe only for the final application of paint, once i get there.

Sorry, but as usual, I'll have to defer to the wiser minds on GJ on this one. :)

Not a problem.

I'm a big fan of 18" rollers.

That sounds like it would also make the job easier.

should work fine. it is just oil base paint. will require more than just water to clean the nozzle and such.

Good to know, thanks!

You may want to consider using a Pressure roller:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Graco-Pressure-Roller-Kit-244512/100163091

These work with an airless but instead of spraying, it's pumping paint to the roller. I've done whole houses with these and they work well.

Never heard of that, very interesting.

Picked up the Wagner Control Stainer 150 last night. Crazy price difference between Home Depot and Lowes on this piece. Home Depot had it for $129, but price shopped online and picked it up from Lowes for $79.99 Honestly excited to take it for a test drive.

Query for the audience:
What size gas heater should be sufficient for my 1000 sq/ft insulated garage?
Thinking between 45,000 BTU's - 75,000 BTU's?

My 60,000BTU has been perfect for my 900sq foot space with 10.5’ ceilings. What do you have for R values in the walls and ceiling? There are calculators you can use that factor in sq footage, r values, and climate zone.

Unfortunately I don’t know the R value of the insulation that was installed in the walls or ceiling. My ceilings are 9.5’ so that could be a good size for my application. I obviously don’t want a huge one, but at the same I don’t want it needing to run continuously.

I think 60k is a safe bet for you then. Too small, and like you said, it will be over worked. Too large, and you’ll be short cycling, which is just as bad. Good luck! I tried to cover a lot of the steps in doing mine in my thread from the gas piping, venting, hanging the unit, and inspections if you want to check out what was involved for me. Starts on page 5. I will tell you that putting heat out there was the best thing I have ever done to my garage.
