Here is a less familiar Danielson pattern that wouldn’t have been that big of a change to convert to the Dunlap pattern. The one on the right is the Danielson.

They look like depressed diamonds - Utica diamonds. But the terminations have those horizontal ribs. I think I’ve seen that combination on Japanese pliers. But I don’t have the example.
I do have two gull wing Japanese pliers. The smaller has an interesting grip pattern.
And a Herbrand VanChrome battery pliers with depressed diamonds but not as many ribs. And a M Klein & Sons slipjoint with depressed diamonds.

And an Eclipse with raised diamonds and multiple ribs. Has a kind of Crescent look to it, despite the grip pattern.
Here are a Danielson and a Crescent sharing a pattern.
But I think I misunderstood which pattern is your mystery. You mean the “eagle feather” pattern, right? Similar to the smaller Japanese pliers I posted?

The pattern on your Japanese Companion pliers is similar to the two mystery Dunlap pliers. That really shouldn’t be too surprising since the Companion brand was revived after the termination of the Dunlap brand. Maybe these two pairs were made in Japan as well. Who knows?

I found this little DOE at an estate sale yesterday. It has to have been made before 1960 and it looks brand new.

I was happy to find this small Dunlap set of parts drawers at a Berkeley estate sale yesterday. I really liked the Sears original price tag.

I found a wood Dunlap level with the Sears price tag still on it. Unfortunately the price had faded out. The estate sale was within a mile of home.

I saw this today for $2. Unfortunately for it, my arms were full and I had some purchases yet to make that were much closer to my heart. Probably too late now. Even as an anchor, it would be worth $2. The adjustment handles are worth more than that.

I found this at the local flea this weekend. The price was right, free, so I took this little guy home. The patent was applied for in 1940 and issued in 1941 so it appears that I have myself a pre war Dunlap block sander.

I've never seen one of these before and Bonneyman asked me to drop a post over in this thread to document this find.

That one looks brand new! They used that spinner in several different sets. The first one was sent to me by misterbill recently.

I picked up this drill press last December while in Oklahoma. Hopefully I'll get a chance to work on it soon.

Here are a few pictures I’ve been meaning to post. The first is a set of wood chisels in the roll. The rest are a pair of groove joint pliers, before and after cleaning.

These arrived today from gpw_42. He spotted them at his flea and generously picked them up for me. They are in excellent condition and will be a nice addition to my Dunlap box. These wrenches were also made by Lectrolite.

Another collector found this 1/2” square drive Dunlap socket set and passed it along to me. I have never seen another square drive Dunlap socket of any size. All of my others are hex drive and those are all I see in the catalogs I’ve checked. Does anybody know when these were available?

Interesting set. Are they USA made? A couple of them appear to be stamped danlap.

I just snapped the pictures right after I opened the package. I haven’t cleaned them up yet but it appears that you are correct. Many of the Dunlap tools were imported by Sears. These have no country of origin but look to be good quality with quite nice chrome. The box looks a little like the 3/4” drive Craftsman box in the ‘42 catalog, with two clips and a metal handle. They are kind of a mystery to me. I’m hoping that one of the guys with the Sears catalog discs might spot them. Here is a picture with a Craftsman -v- ratchet added.

I finally had a chance to clean up the set a bit. There are seven sockets marked Dunlap, three are marked Danlap and unfortunately none are marked Donlap!

Danlap?!?!?! I wonder if that's a knock off. I've done a cursory hunt through the catalogs and haven't found that yet. I'm going to dig a bit deeper tonight but given the misspelling it has me wondering. That clamshell looks straight up 1970s which is about the same time K-mart was selling the knock off butterfly ratchets.

Forgive me if I already posted this on here but I don't think I have. Interesting amber handled Dunlap claw hammer.

54 is the last year I see Dunlap socket sets in a metal box and it's nothing like yours Don. The sets run a few more years in cheap plastic boxes with sliding transparent tops then drop down to sockets with a spinner handle in a vinyl pouch. I agree with OTG, Japanese knock off.
