Eviction laws vary from state to state and probably from county to county. I many cases it is very difficult to get renters out, even if they are many months delinquent.

Squatters are another issue. In some place they can claim "ownership" if they have been there long enough and have made "improvements".

Luckily not here!! No rent by the 15th and you're out 24hrs after the hearing (usually booked in 4-6 days)....:rocker:

Here's what I'm thinking on adding to the 390FE I bought for my Galaxie....

FW-TK-UNIVERSAL-T3T4.jpg

Some may recall all the work I did to the underside of the Galaxie - strengthening the frame and adding huge F&R sway bars. With about 500HP on tap it'd be one HELL of a fun ride.

Saucy. Will the bottom end support that, or do you have some upgrades inside?

The below (aka "The Avocado") is getting a 390 rebuild, currently deciding where to go with it.

Leave that patch on the wall and label it as the place you buried the last tennant that was late with the rent...

Tore down the rest of the engine and cleaned it up to get it painted and detailed....

106_4255.JPG

106_4256.JPG

Lots of **** removed....

106_4257.JPG

Also got a few more cans of Dupli-color's Undercoating to do the inner floor boards and put an extra coat under the car.

106_4260.JPG

106_4261.JPG

Lucky it'll all be hidden - because I wasn't impressed with the globs of product that continued to build up on the can and fall onto the area sprayed....Oddly the first can's didn't do it as much....

A little more cleaning....

106_4270.JPG

And it's Painting day!!

106_4269.JPG

First I used Dupli-Color'sSelf Etching Primer - to aid adhesion, especially on the bare metal spots....

106_4272.JPG

106_4271.JPG

Followed up with 4 coats of their Engine Enamel -

106_4279.JPG

In various colors -

106_4280.JPG

Also detailed several parts, some of which you can see above, as well as the 10 minutes I spent on the fan below:

106_4276.JPG

106_4277.JPG

106_4293.JPG

Then I turned my attention to the carbs -

106_4285.JPG

...and what do you think I found inside?

106_4287.JPG

Why those are bits of Alfalfa leaves deposited by the Leaf-Cutter Bee! They use bits of leaves, stuffed in any holes they can find, to deposit their eggs which will hatch next spring. Happened while the car was stored at the in-laws farm where I was running a leaf-cutter operation...

Once disassembled, everything went into the soaker, until tomorrow.

Just spent (read:wasted) 3 hours at one of our rentals putting in new bedroom doors. I'd way rather work in my shop on something mechanical! I guess that's where the saying: "To each his own" comes from....

Is that primer you used on the block heat proof or at least resistant? I use a hi temp primer for motors.

Did you use anything other than that wire brush on the valve cover? You put anything on it afterward? Looks great.

I used a coarse wire wheel on the drill for the worst spots and a fine wire wheel on the bench grinder for the larger surfaces. After that I used a Red Scotch pad by hand to even it all out. I thought of using a scotch pad on the small angle grinder but I didn't want to end with swirl marks. I haven't put anything on it, but I may paint the letter and rib tops silver or grey.

I've used the etch primer before on items exposed to high heat with good success, but it's not heat proof per se. The paint is however.

The 40 Ford is off to Graveyard Customs for paint - can't wait to get it back all shiny and new - and turn it into a super rod!

photo.JPG

Just before it left, I filled a final hole in the dash -

With the 40 Ford gone I'll have time to get the 240Z nearer to looking like this.....

E-tek%2520Z%2520Rendering.jpg

.....and possibly do a smaller job for someone else. It's car show season again and last week at the years first (and biggest) show, I was approached by several people looking to get their own dream rides underway. It's a great hobby.

One day the snow may be gone too - and I can get out in my own rides!

Working on the last few items needed before spraying High-Build Primer next week!

Here I'm removing the drip-rail mouldings with a set of pliers I've ground the teeth off of, then wrapped with black tape.

An old-school bottle cap popper also works well for this job -

Mrs. E-Tek sure knows how to 'accessorize' that convertible!

What's the paint scheme going to be on the '40 Ford?

I know you have a 'real' job, but I'm curious just how many hours a week you spend in the shop? It seems to me you get more done on a part-time basis than guys who do this type of work as their sole income; pretty darn amazing!

not familiar with the Nissan engine, but is the front pulley/balancer constructed the same as US (older Ford/Chevy) with a rubber ring bonding the inner and outer?
just never pulled on the outer, always bolted to the hub to remove to not damage the rubber.............or will it be replaced with new?

Ed is one of those lucky fellas that has a very supportive wife getting involved in what he does.

As for the photo it was of a car taken in the Garage so it is Garage related :dunno:
Well I believe that is correct .

After the coarse wire brush on the drill, I used a fine wire wheel on the bench grinder, then used a 3M Scotchbrite pad to get the fine, brushed finish you see here. I could have polished it to a shine - and still may - but I do like the brushed look. If I stay with that, I'll apply Matte (Flat) clear over it.

Mrs. E-Tek sure knows how to 'accessorize' that convertible!

Super dark purple - tri-color that looks black in the shade.

No more than 15 hours a week really, Thursdays, Fridays and a few hours some weekends. I would be in there more, but between doing all the maintenance on our rental houses and having 2 young boys, one with special needs, time gets tight! :willy_nil

It's rubber bonded and I hear you - the "rightest" way would be to use a center/bolted puller - but I got lazy and it was easy to pull off. Had it been harder I would have resorted to the bolted puller.

Mrs. E is as beautiful as ever, and I would welcome photos of her any time Mr. E sees fit.

Mrs E thanks you - but I'll try harder to abide by the rules and watch what I post from here on....

Anyways, back on track....I finally brought the rest of the body parts in from the shed where they'd been for nearly 3 years....

Some of them need quite a bit of work...

106_4315.JPG

Found some odd rust spots inside the back hatch panel --treating it with Metal Prep (POSO4) -

106_4330.JPG

And spent a bunch more time detailing engine parts - including using POR15's Manifold Coating on the exhaust mani -

106_4312.JPG

106_4311.JPG

A lot of elbow grease and a wire wheel on the cast aluminum intake mani -

106_4307.JPG

106_4342.JPG

Fuel Rail -

106_4314.JPG

Valve cover done -

106_4335.JPG

106_4339.JPG

Just have to show off another shot of the floors - they look so good now with new metal and coated in Dupli-Colors Rubberized Undercoating -

106_4318.JPG

As well as one more of the chassis -

Ed, to use the the manifold coating stuff do you have to blast, or will wire wheel/brush/cleaning be good enough?

E-Tek, I have the 2 part carb cleaner and it works miracles on cleaning up carbs. I will make you a deal: I'll give you the carb cleaner and the basket for dipping parts if you let me use it on the rare occasion that I need it. Does that work for you? (I'm scared it's going to get knocked over in my garage)

E-Tek, have you designed your logo to be applied to the door(s) of the '40 Ford yet?

P.S. - Didn't see a pic of the '40 Ford on your website; got one coming?

Well, since the 40 Ford isn't mine, I don't think it will be getting my logo - Not on the door anyways!

As for the website - there's a link to the GJ build thread there, but no photo yet - maybe after it's painted....

"Well, since the 40 Ford isn't mine, I don't think it will be getting my logo - Not on the door anyways!"

I'm losing track of your toys and those you do for others! lol
Of course, the owner might just appreciate your logo on the door of his Ford? Maybe it's appropriate to have some window stickers made up for your customers' cars; we all know wherever they drive, people will want to know who did such excellent work!

Maybe instead of cleaning up the Nissan engine you could have done what a lot of people seem to be doing to Zs these days, LS1.

No thanks. If you review my thread you'll see I prefer show-room and period correct restorations (unless it's a rod or custom of course!). Besides, if I wanted a 240Z with an LS1 I'd likely buy one already built, with all the bugs worked out and the hard part already done! :bounce:

Built a frame-table to put my 27T rod on. It also covers 3 engines so gave me back a stall that was being used up by them.
