One of the few things I am truly allergic to is fiberglass insulation. I mean wind up in the hospital unable to breathe allergic. That bathroom was giving me the willies just looking at it.

Great work on it so far. Can't wait to see it further along.

Perhaps Rock wool or cotton fiber instead of "pink death"?

Lumber yard delivered 64 sheets of drywall and some dimensional lumber to fix the beam in the first bay.

I’m excited to get it painted. The change is going to be amazing. It’s nice seeing it take shape. The full 10’ ceiling makes it feel a lot bigger. This is going to be a really nice space!

Ceiling is up minus the center strip along the beam. Have some work to do there before that gets drywall.

Moved everything to that side of the building and got the remaining demo done and hauled off. It’s crazy how much this cleans things up. Can’t wait to see it in paint.

Now to get it cleaned up, masked off and ready for paint. Then, electrical and lighting.

Thirty bales of blow-in insulation. If you know.. you know. And, itch just thinking about it.

Exciting, great to watch all the hard work transform a dingy building into something great to own and use. Keep it up! get some old gas pumps, signs, etc.

I had an idea years ago I pitched to my brother (we were both single, not hitched). I said we should buy an old vacant brick building, ground level would be out joint car/motorcycle shop area. Second level we'd each have a luxury apartment, huge shared party room area, rooftop party deck. No yard work as it would be an old commercial building. Then we both got hitched, ended that idea.

Thanks guys!! I’m excited to see this thing in paint!

Ceiling is insulated. Got the rental machine back same day. Worked out well.

I believe this is the last trailer load to the dump.

It was 96 degrees and you did 30 bags in one day, WOW. I did 10 bags in the spring when it was 75 degrees , it took me 5 hours and I was exhausted! You are the MAN.

Slodat, congrats for getting your ceiling all insulated, all in one day even. Yeah it's been very warm lately even on the cool side of the mountains. Nice job 👍

Thanks for following along and cheering me on guys.

As I’ve said all along, this is a as time and motivation permits sort of project. I haven’t worked on it in a few weeks. Been enjoying the ac in my shop, working on a lathe cnc control retrofit.

Windows came today. These will be a huge upgrade and facelift. The screens will be nice for keeping birds and some of the insects out.

The windows also represent a lot of work!

I need to check in here more often. That way it doesn't look like all I comment on is that damned bathroom! HA HA HA :eek:;)

Thanks for following along and cheering me on guys! Slow and steady when time allows. Making some progress.

This end is ready for masking and then squirting some paint. Lots of work to get to this point. The masking is a lot of work, and it’s worth doing it right.

I'm impressed by how much was compressed in there and it was still pulling up dust. It's all cleaned up and back to work.

First coat of Kilz Original early this morning. Twelve gallons. Great coverage on previously painted block. Ok coverage on bare block.

Second coat of Kilz tonight if it’s dry and ready, otherwise early tomorrow.

Good progress over the weekend. Two coats of Kilz Original primer and one heavier coat of semi-gloss latex. Peeling off the masking is always satisfying.. provided there’s no big mistakes ;) My wife did an amazing job masking off the bathroom. Lots and lots to do.. as time allows.

Paint tally on this half of the building:
First coat of Kilz Original 12 gallons
Second coat of Kilz Original 6 gallons
Latex semi-gloss top coat 10 gallons
