Pegboard is up, all plywood is screwed down and this side of the wall is ready for a quick once over with 80 grit and some paint!

Nice! Do you have a projected finish date?

I'll be finished when I'm done? Like that? :)

Kidding aside, I'm itching to be done with shop stuff for a while so I can get going on the '54. Really want to drive it this summer and it needs a ton of work. Doing an LT1/4L60E swap, new wiring, modern wipers, modifying the floor pan to drop the front seats lower, new fuel tank in the trunk floor...

I'm hoping to be done painting bays 2&3 in the next few weeks..

Other side of the woodshop wall is now covered in 3/4 plywood. I had a pallet of this plywood. It is perfect for the wall. Used it all up. The Clearvue cyclone is going on the far left of this side of the wall. The inlet will pass through the wall.

I finally figured out where to put the material rack! It's going on the woodshop/bay 5 wall. It will fit perfectly. This has been bugging me. On the back side of the black door:

Unloading onto the rack won't be too far from the bay 2 roll up door either. This pallet rack will get painted black like the other one.

Next up is to prep for painting bays 2 & 3.

Then, I'm going to get rid of the 22' long section of pallet racking on the bay 1 wall and prep the last bay for paint.

I've figured out the only 2 post clear floor lift that will fit in my shop is a Challenger SA10. It will be right up to the drywall. 136.5". Hoping to get that coming in a few weeks.

Spent the day yesterday "absorbing" the contents of the 14' end of the 22' wall of pallet racking into the shop.

End of the day:

Now working on this section:

When finished I'll decide if I want to keep the 8' section or not..

Next up, painting my material rack and bays 2 & 3. Then putting a TON of stuff away. Lastly painting bay 1. Hopefully all in the next week.

Progress!

I had to disassemble the pallet rack section I'm using for material storage in the wood room to get it in there. Since it is apart, I'm hitting it with 80 grit on the RO sander before I put it together and paint it like I did the other section a few months ago. It is a lot of work. The end result made me so happy on the first one, so I'll see it through.

Painted! Looks so much better. This was a lot of work, but I'll smile every time I walk by it.

What will you be using to deck the shelving? With the shelves so close together I am assuming you will be using it to store rolls of fabric. Will a roll span the gap? Do you even need decking. Hopefully I am not completely off the mark.

I use it to store materials- sheet goods of varying thicknesses, some hardwood lumber, building materials, steel and aluminum sticks, conduit, etc.

SD: Shop is coming along nicely. now that it's quit raining every day it might be easier to get materials and stuff in and out of the shop.

just curious what tools you used to clean up the rust on that old racking? I have a lot of that I need to prep and paint too and I was thinking of using my hand grinders with wire cups or one of my belt sanders since I don't have a compressor set up yet. do tell?

I sanded them with an electric random orbital sander and 80 grit. Just to scuff up what was there and remove/feather any chips, rust, etc. Works really well. Then primed and top coated with Van Sickle tractor paint with their hardener. I'm very happy with the results. It's a lot of work.

Put in 100+ hours in the past 8 days to get Bay 2 & 3 ready to paint. Plan was to shoot the Kilz on the cinder block first so I could get two coats. I'm really glad I did. I ran out of steam last night about midnight. I had just finished the first coat of Kilz on the block. :)

Back this morning to finish the primer coat.

In the spirit of fitting as much **** as possible in the storeroom...

View from the through aisle.

View between two rows of shelves. No extra room, but totally useable!

These are 12" deep. I put a 1 gallon can full of stuff in one puka.

I like that thread gauge. Extra room invites clutter, your store room should be pretty organized.

SD: I just did something similar by putting up plywood and supplies on my commercial racking a couple weeks ago. i'm still sore, but very happy and i'm guessing you are too.

WELL DONE

I didn't paint my old rusty racks, but once I buy or build a shop I will the next time I set them up because yours looks great.

I know what you mean. I bought both because they were good deals. You have to jump when you see them!

Spent most of my weekend getting the new Leeson 2HP motor in the Crescent/Delta 20" woodworking bandsaw. The old motor was screwed up. Glad I finally bought a new motor. It has a magnetic starter with a control power transformer to power the light.

Finally found a throat plate.
