with the current economy, companies aren't sitting on much inventory........probably that's the schedule for their next run....

i'd wait on a quincy......i have a nice compressor and i still have quincy envy.....

Nice set up, I went with the Qt-5 from a local craigslist sale. Just getting it set up, where did you get the Aro regulator/filter setup?

check the for sale ads, I was surprised that champions, Quincy's, etc were out there only a few years old.

Thanks.. got the IR reg/filter/lube at Northern. Was the only one I could find locally that had the 1/2" inlet:

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200395712_200395712

FYI - This IR setup is rated at 150psi.. Be sure to dial back your QT-5 from its 175 psi max.

'Quincy Blue'.. AFAIK, that's the only color they're painting this line.

After I posted about the color, I realized I was referring to the Eaton

As for Northertool, I saw their turnaround time and sent them an email about pricematching. They do say if you find the same product within 30 days, as a lower price, they will refund 110% of the price difference. I did find it for $975, but I don't think that includes free shipping, and then there's TPtools at $1199 with free shipping. Northern is at $1399. I'm going to call TPtools in the morning, to see if they happen to have any in their inventory, and ask if I can get a reduced price if I come pick it up rather than them pay for shipping

Doubt you'll have any success with that; TPTools' website says the Quincys are built-to-order and drop shipped directly from the factory.

Probably not, but in an email I received from someone from TPtools, he suggested I call Monday to see if they have any in stock ("We may have this compressor in stock - not sure, as I am not at work") and if they might offer any allowance if I pick up. Even if they don't, and they have it in stock, I might take the 60 mile drive to get it, rather than wait

Does anyone know how old of a model that Quincy even is? I called Northerntool to see if they would price match, and was told they no longer even carry it, that it has been discontinued? TPtools offered to lower the price for me a bit if I pick up in their Ohio store, but I'd have to pay sales tax, so it's not worth it, even though I'd have the compressor 4 to 5 weeks sooner

Oh well, guess I'll be ordering from TPtools today and hopefully have it by mid to late April

The Northern Tool team member may have misunderstood the model you were looking for..

I just saw the Quincy 2V41C60VC at a local store here and it's still online at $1399 (they will price match BTW).

You could call Quincy (their website isn't much help)

I wonder if I place my order through Northerntool, then next week bring up their "Low price guarantee" if I would get the 110% difference?

I'd hate to end up getting burned on the $200 difference between Northern and TPtools to save $20.00, but I feel more comfortable ordering through Northerntools. TPtools seemed a little shady today when I called them. I'm sure they aren't. but it seemd that way to me

I just ordered through TPtools. Also got the Quincy maintenance kit and the 1/2'' Deluxe Regulator Separator Combo. Not sure of that regulator combo is worth $119. Has to be better than the Harbor Freight one I'm using now, and it is also made in the USA like the compressor.

Oh, also paid the $100 for the liftgate service. Better safe than sorry I guess. Close to $1500 total. Now I need to expaline to the wife why I "needed" a new compressor :)

ROLAIR = US Made
The year was 1959. Our goal was simple: Produce the finest compressors known to mankind. Decades later, the goal remains the same. As a third-generation manufacturer known for quality and craftsmanship, Rolair compressors are built in the heart of Wisconsin exclusively for professional contractors. They appreciate our attention to detail, rugged performance and wide variety of options. But above all, they appreciate that our sole focus is compressors - nothing else.

Thanks for the reply, I looked at the IR and another Arrow Pneumatics. The Arrow is a wee bit cheaper, made in the US, and I don't need to throttle back the PSI input from the QT-5. A win win

Where did you find the Arrow Pneumatics?

universal pneumatic & electric group, do a google search for them. The guy's name is Brendan. They also supplied my Square D starter for an amazing price compared to a lot of other places.

Not that it will make a difference, but you could tell him Rob sent you.

I went with the integral unit 1/2 metal bowl . Here is the arrow webpage to see specs on stuff they make. http://www.arrowpneumatics.com/accessories.html

I was curious about the delivery date of my new Quincy, so made a call, and find out my ship date isn't until April 12th. That kind of *****. I could just about have a new car built in that amount of time. Either they only have a few guys building them, or they are selling a ton of them right now

Eaton rubs me the wrong way. Their site is full of salesmanship, just like the quote you posted about $430 in feature at no additional charge. I guess they are giving that to you out of the goodness of their heart. In addition, their past responses to the folks in regards to the expose link that I posted turned me off of them for good.

I found the Eaton site to be informative in some respects. But am with you on the rest of it. You just feel dirty after reading the "expose" thread. And I hear you about the salesmanship. But then again, I don't like most salesman. So....

Bought a Eaton 7.5hp, 2 stage, 80g Monday. I put all the personal stuff aside and bought the one that gave me the most bang for the buck. 5yr warranty, low RPM and extras. I just couldn't find anyone that offered the same for the price.

Any further advice? I am in the middle of choosing a compressor. I was all for IR and I am now leaning towards Eaton. Hobbiest that wants to run a fab shop out of my garage lol.

Quincy's lead time is back down to only 2 weeks. which is pretty good for them considering the only compressors that are actually sitting on the floor ready to ship are the small screws. everything else is built to order. and since the Atlas Copco Buy out of quincy, everyone is buying up quincy's in fear of an overhaul.

oh yeah, Quincy over Eaton any day!

That figures, I've been waiting about 3 weeks for mine, but they did call today to set up a delivery time. I'll have to wait until Thursday, since I'll be working all day tomorrow. Glad to hear their turn around time is now shorter though. It's been a long 3 weeks waiting
