Still searching for a Wright Tool ratchet, really indecisive,
Fortunately, I've settled for SK's 42472, was going to buy from ToolTopia, but they raised the price the instant I expressed interest.

Pretty soon, I'll be avoiding shopping from such websites, this is how they instill hype. Same goes with Amazon. I'm sure a few weeks from now Amazon, will be listing hundreds for tools for extremely low prices.

I've also noticed that whenever I get redirected from the forum to shopping websites (basic script as per Developer Mode), a referral cookie is generated and is cached on the proceeding website. Either open an incognito window or order at a later time. This is the new age of online surfing. Great Job Google. Automated Bots = The Future, Maintain Caution

It's a great deal, no doubt, not sure what I'll do with a third SK 3/8" Ratchet. I like to keep sets complete. Don't really work on SAE fasteners much. Am I overthinking this?

Haha I feel the same way, I'm really not a fan of SK ratchets. I was thinking if I could give the ratchets to some friends who'd make good use of them, but I don't want to make the set incomplete!

SK ratchets are awesome and have been for a good 60 years or so!!! The course ones are tough as any ratchet can be. The fine ones are really awesome if not quite as tough (but I've never had trouble with any). Not everyone likes the round head vs. little selecter pear head switch but I like round heads fine. The "feel" of using SK just screams US quality to me and I smile every time I use one. Most SK ratchet users either love them for similar to above reasons or hate them as they don't like round heads or want the ultimate in fine movement. But that ultimate fine movement is not as robust as lesser fine movements. Cannot be as the gear engagement teeth are not as robust. So I view it all as a tradeoff. 40 teeth is fine enough for me. - Paul

Consider yourself lucky
I would have bought that one. It's going to be a while for something similar to pop up again on eBay.
You sure that seller didn't replace the head through a rebuild kit only to sell the ratchet on eBay? :D Just kidding  You know we all are very thrilled of the awesome collection of ratchets you recently acquired

Darn, now I really want to try both knurled handle and contour grip versions of Wright's ratchets. Spn, can I "borrow" your ratchet for a day or two (I'll pay for the shipping; oh, I'll just be right back...) :p

Got mine for $10.50 + $9.97 shipping. "Used" but it was basically mint.

s-l1600.jpg

Those swirls are milling marks. Like a drill bit but with a flat cutter on the end that moves in and out to machine away the metal to make a flat surface. Likely dull cutter there that made those swirls you normally shouldn't see. Just part of their manufacturing process there. That would be a roughness scale of about K or F in engineering terms. - Paul

Update on the Felo Torx, I asked the seller for confirmation on whether they had shipped since the tracking number hasn't been updated and he confirms they were shipped out so I'm betting they did use Surepost.

Or they don't actually stock them and just bought a shipping label to hold us over until they arrive. A lot of their negative feedback says this.

When the tracking updates, if it starts in the middle of the transit, then the seller actually did ship it as he said. If it says dropped off at the post office May 20th, then we know they were just buying time till they got them in stock. I got a tracking number, but no update either. One package making it through without being scanned isn't unusual, but all five of us? Especially given the numerous negative reviews for this same issue?

It doesn't really bother me too much since I won't be able to see them until July anyway! $5 for these torx drivers is a fantastic deal too!

I received my Felo torx screwdrivers yesterday. Exactly as we expected! Absolute steal at 5 bucks.

My tracking status was still at "info received" even after they had been delivered. So its USPS at fault.

Another possibility is they shipped Surepost which is partnership between UPS and USPS; the tracking numbers sometimes never update and the package takes a long time to get delivered.

Nope, not most of the basic tools. You've got to be careful though. Chrome sockets are US currently, I don't think impacts are though.

Yeah, you got it right. I've seen some Stanley though that is IDENTICAL to US made PROTO, not just Blackhawk! Some of it is really great stuff, others is just cheap China COO junk, and other yet is equal to Blackhawk. Greatest variation I may have ever seen in a tool brand other than modern Craftsman as to quality! - Paul

You have to be careful, Blackhawk isn't all good. This was from Amazon and these Blackhawk by Proto are made in China of the lowest quality I've ever seen in any tool. The metal is flaking off, chunks fall off when you touch it.

Well, good and bad concerning the Felo deal I originally posted.

Good: Received my 6 piece set of Torx drivers today.

Bad: I originally ordered a quantity of TWO as is clearly shown in the order details and paid for TWO.

Contacted the seller regarding this so hopefully will hear back soon.

I have a Husky ratchet that looks identical to this marked USA. I also have Stanley and Husky 3/8" drive sockets that look identical to these I bought back in college around 2009. Interestingly enough, the sockets aren't stamped USA and the package says made in China.

What's up with those Wright Hex Bit sockets? I hear most VW/Audi enthusiasts go with VIM tools on that basis. Either VIM or Proto Impacts. The others regardless of whether or not they're Made in the USA---- strip off or the actual bit somehow manages to separate itself from the socket.
