I'm trying to decide between Wright's Double Pawl and Williams Superratchet, which one would you prefer?

Btw, seems that no one has purchased those Facom ratchets posted earlier

What's that un-marked tombstone on the right?

manufactured by Walden Worcester in Worcester, Massachusetts.
has no markings on it anywhere: no part number, no manufacturer's name, no patent numbers.
it was identified by members here - very similar to the model #1150 but without the knurled handle and without any markings. possibly made to fill a government contract. was also included in the $25 "grab bag" mentioned above.

I have a pair. They are very nice, but I think they are made in Vietnam.

I have 3 pairs of them (they come free with wiha micro screw drivers). They're very nice and comfortable. I think as you said, they're made in Vietnam.

Wouldn't every pay 13 bucks for them though when you can buy a micro screwdriver kit for 20 bucks and that comes for free too.

Yeah, I believe they are that's why I included the "says" part. Although in another ad the seller says that only part of pliers are made outside Germany, but doesn't say which part. Still, gotta be better than those Promerica pliers that get listed here every other day and no one ******* about the price of those.

^ shipping on that ratchet to me is only $7.75 - now you know why I always put that line at the top of my posts.

that 40975 S-K 1/4" ratchet I posted on the previous page only has a 4-inch handle.
so how come when I do a Google search on "40975 S-K" everybody is telling me it's got a 6-inch handle? am I seeing things? what's up with that?

I need to go look for some more deals on Proamerica pliers. ;)

Is there a way to tell which SK wrenches are USA and which are imports (without being able to see the USA stamping)? They use the same part numbers don't they?

All SK wrenches are USA made? Any ratcheting wrenches that aren't the kastar/lang style or the new X-frames, however, are made in Taiwan. They are 90 tooth ratcheting wrenches made under pre-ideal SK.

Paul, also check out Amazon for the Expert and Blackhawk (Proto) brands.
They both had those screwdrivers. Expert with blue handles and Blackhawk with black handles.

We don't get those brands here, but we do get Britool Expert which is blue which I forgot.
Watch eBay and they come up fairly often.

^ I thought all S-K was US-manufactured.

Nope, it is now but under the Facom owned period they slipped in quite a lot of Euro made stuff and the Taiwan ratchet wrenches, I have never bought a non USA SK item that wasn't really decent stuff. The few years after SBD let the management buy them out up until the bankruptcy and Ideal buyout are the worst for quality.

Upon checking, I have several SK tools from the Dresser era, and the remaining ones are from the current Ideal Industries era. The only tool from the Facom era I have is the T-Handle 1/4" Drive Bit driver and Scraper Set. Never knew SK sourced tools from Taiwan. It's not to say USA made SK tools were the best several years ago, as I do see significant chrome loss in some of the 1/4" Drive sockets I have from probably the 90's era. I wonder how SK will warranty them, especially if the part numbers are no longer found in their catalog. Will they replace them with something equivalent?

So all regular combo wrenches will be USA and all standard ratcheting wrenches are Taiwan...that makes it easy.
I only have 1 ratcheting wrench from SK that I got cheap on Amazon. Was disappointed that it wasn't USA. Glad I didn't spend money trying to put a set together yet. I guess my only hope would be the X-frames.

Quick note on "SK" vs "S-K" searches.. I'm pretty sure "SK" will give you all of them (including SK, S-K, S&K), while "S-K" will only give you just the "S-K" listings.

I'll verify later

^^^Interesting find, hopefully will be able to expand my search

On another note, I purchased a NOS Irwin Vise Grip Set (three vise grips) and noticed that though the packaging states Made in USA (packaging included Made in China pouch), no where on the actual hand tool does it specify USA. Any thoughts on this? The blister packaging says Made in USA of global components, could that be the reason? I wonder where in the USA these Vise grips were manufactured, certainly not the old Dewitt factory

Hi Winlin, again, the search function in the tools section would bring up lots of answers on the vice-grips. These were assembled at Petersen before it completely shut down but with parts made elsewhere. Not the same as older true Petersens but better than the current Irwins, which are really junk. - Paul

While I love all US tools, SK in the Facom era I would not be afraid of in any way. Facom made great quality sockets, screwdrivers, etc. I actually have a set of Facom 1/4" deep sockets and I want to say quality there is Snap-On level, very good. - Paul

I noticed Milwaukee's current China-Grips proudly proclaim 'USA pat. no *** on the side.

manufactured by Walden Worcester in Worcester, Massachusetts.
has no markings on it anywhere: no part number, no manufacturer's name, no patent numbers.
it was identified by members here - very similar to the model #1150 but without the knurled handle and without any markings. possibly made to fill a government contract. was also included in the $25 "grab bag" mentioned above.
I have one just like that that came from a California aviation background.
