That's what I get for paying right away. Just won an auction an hour ago...

Ask to cancel. Send them a message that you want to rebid the auction and pay with a coupon.

I'm an idiot too. I just bought 4 things and hit the pay now button before I entered the code :wtf:

I got all the auctions cancelled and rebought with the coupon, whew.

15% off (almost) everything, until 6pm PST / 9pm EST - 12/28

code: POPUPSAVINGS
max $100 savings

thanx.

some things in my cart had been sold, so I needed to reload some things. I ended up saving about 125$ (I happened to find one of the items in my cart at 80$ less than the standard price everyone else was charging, and 45$ on the cart itself.)

especially if any items you saved in your cart are expensive, it is worth checking around to make sure that a better deal didn't surface while you were waiting.

the price is back up to $34.99

Wow, if I didn't just get this set for Christmas, I'd be all over this deal. The imperial set never goes on sale and is usually at least $35. If you use the sitewide 15% off code, this comes out to $20.39 with free shipping.

^^^ I'm about 30 miles away. Is that a good price for those cabinets??

Personally, I think it is a good price. Cabinets look to be in nice condition, with good graphics. I might offer 100 just to see if he would take it, but in end I would pay the 120 if I wanted them.

Anybody remember if ebay has done a new year % off in recent years?

I’m not sure how many more of their “sales” I can afford...every time I “save” $75 is costs me $425 and the UPS guy brings me cool stuff a few days later :bitchslap

Now that I have my ebay bucks, I'm sure there won't be a 15% off until they expire (1/31/19)...

Don't ebay bucks work as a promotional code that you have to enter like the 15% off so you can't do both at the same time?

That is how it use to be, but their gift cards aren't supposed to be stackable with codes either, but several people have said they haven't had any issues as of recent at least. eBay was/is super tight about not allowing stacking of offers, but may have eased up around the time they dropped PayPal as their primary payment client.

^ a better deal than those WF groove-joints are the Wilde 10-inch model available from Bowers Tool on Ebay:

$13.99 incl. shipping for zinc or black finish:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wilde-Tong...able-T-G-Zinc-Finish-Made-in-USA/142623356282

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wilde-Tong...0-Adjustable-T-G-Black-Oxide-USA/162800598153

the same model (zinc plated) is also available from Harry Epstein, but when you factor in shipping costs the net cost from Bowers is actually a bit less.

Here's the Wilde model side-by-side with the Proamerica equivalent:

I don't think the Wiha 6 -1/2 Side cutters are made in Switzerland.

If I remember correctly, that Wiha logo on the pliers means made in Asia.

How often do the eBay coupons come out? Waiting for a 15% off or more to pop up.

January, April, July, and October are Ebay Bucks reward months. usually, although not always, there are no coupons those months, because you are already supposed to have a discount available to you.

since January is both the beginning of a quarter and a year, I imagine that sales would have to be really down for them to consider a coupon this month.

there, now that I have said that, there will be a coupon in the next two or three days.

you are all welcome.

My homepage shows an offer for 8% bucks through 11:59 on the 18th.

Somebody on Slickdeals posted the other day that in the past 2 years there was a 15% coupon right around the 27th.

I got one of those for, as I recall, 10%, something like a year ago. spent several hundred dollars, got a pretty good kickback.

I think I have gotten one for 8% since then, only good for a day or two.

one nice thing about those is that you didn't, at least then, have to put it all in one cart. I had a bunch of transactions over the original window (for 10%).

there you go. that is something that would be useful, a listing of when those coupons appeared, what the discount was, and how long it was good for.

No deals, just a FYI for those that buy and sell on eBay. Looks like shipping costs are increasing. From the email I got from eBay:

UPS rate changes went into effect December 26, 2018. They have increased an average of 4.9% across most services.

FedEx Express and FedEx Ground parcel movements increased by approximately 4.9% January 7, 2019.

USPS will be making the following changes January 27, 2019.

• USPS First Class packages are increasing an average of 11.9%*
◦ Note that USPS First Class Package Service pricing will change from a flat rate per ounce to zone-based pricing per ounce
• USPS Priority Mail increases an average of 5.9%

It will take awhile, but eventually these charges will get passed on to the buyers. And finally, starting on June 23 larger, but lightweight items are going to cost a lot more to ship.

Effective June 23, USPS is also planning to change the way they calculate dimension weight on Parcel Select Ground, Priority Mail, and Priority Mail Express. They currently apply dimensional weight (DIM Weight) pricing on medium to large packages with lower weights to take into consideration the amount of space taken up on a truck rather than a package’s physical weight. As pricing changes take effect, the rate charged will be the higher cost of either Dim Weight or physical weight of a package.

Yup. Remember the good old days when they claimed the increases were purely to offset fuel costs???

Guess I'll finally have to learn Spee-dee; unfortunately competition doesn't help when they all gain up and are more concerned with giving large retail accounts (amzn) the best rates.

Anyone else see a trend of Mom and Pop/brick and mortar stores surviving now due to everyone paying sales tax and shipping costs skyrocketing?

^ I don't know about that, as those surviving B&M retailers don't have the depth or range of inventory that can be found online, and in the context of hand tools the options are limited.

I do know that my own ebay purchases have dropped by over 90% since sales tax of 10% on both the item and the shipping started getting added onto the price.

Whey are they charging 10% sales tax on the shipping price?

Even with added costs eBay is far cheaper than B&M, etc. The only thing that beats them is Farm & Fleet sales on cheap or high dollar stuff (esp. w/ an employee discount).
