Picked this craftsman 315.27830 6 1/2" electric hand saw up today, its very heavy. Anyone know when they made these as i cannot find a date code etc.

I know this is also a Kennedy, but does anyone know the model #? I want to repaint and restore this....anyone have a Kennedy decal for the top? Also does anyone know what color paint to use to match? Although this box appears to have been black? Has Kennedy ever had a black box?

I agree it's either a 59 or early sixties. 315.*** prefix tells us that it was built by makita.Picked this craftsman 315.27830 6 1/2" electric hand saw up today, its very heavy. Anyone know when they made these as i cannot find a date code etc.

Just a few words of wisdom from my previous bout with Kennedy Tool boxes--yours looks to have possibly been smoke/fire damaged? Handle looks in fine shape considering the looks of the box--I don't know the model #! I have had several Kennedy's with foreign paint residue--I tried thinner, mineral spirits, goop, hand cleaner, simple green +++ and most of the time the paint would come off and the brown would also! Sort of leaves a flat finish on the brown which usually does not set well with the un-affected area. I purchased several 12 oz spray bombs from a Industrial dealer who sold Knnedy's(Pricy $14.50 ea can) these bombs will give close color to the factory finish, however I never could blend in a cleaned area on a damaged box. They more than likely have a special set-up at the factory which gives the special "wrinkle fimish" which you don't get with a bomb??? To r-store to like new condition will take considerable time & $$$-but gives one nice satisfaction of doing same! I did have one regular Kennedy that was in the "Black Wrinkle Finish"-one and only!!
Hope this is of some help and good luck with the projects......Cranky![]()
