Just bought some at the Lowes in Santa Clarita, CA. They had 5 other buckets in stock. Paid $169.

Hmmm...seems a short drive over the border to Watertown is in order...

Got a couple of questions regarding my application.
1. Garage is about 700 sq. feet, should one full kit and one half kit do it? The Lowes should be able to order a half kit right?
2. My garage floor is about a year old and as a final step when they ground/polished it they added some type of sealant to it (solvent based IIRC). Would this have to be ground off completely with a diamond grinder or is there another alternative?

Thanks!

Phil

CarbonCrew,

Where did u find it? I need some in Fayetteville, NC but nothing yet. Heading to Augusta, GA next month and if they are located off I-20 I can make a pitt stop.

I'm in Aiken, SC which is about 20 minutes from Augusta, Ga and right off I-20 on your way to Augusta.

Do you know how many kits that you are planning to purchase? I'll go ahead and buy what I need so they'll be restocked before you come.

Phil,
You can special order the half kit. Since it is so cheap at Lowes, you may just want to do 2 full kits and just apply it a bit thicker.
You will have to grind off any sealer on the concrete, you can do this with a diamond grinder from the local tool rental company.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Okay, so I called a lowes store here and they said they have epoxy-coat for $153 and it's supposed to cover a 2 1/2 garage. Does this sound right to anyone else? Also, does anyone know if they carry the clear coat kit?

I just finished my garage last night and I am blown away at the results. I bought 2 Taupe kits from Lowes to cover 600 sq ft 3 car garage. I knew Id have extra, but I would rather have too much than not enough since I was doing the porous trim around the border.

I have to say that the finished product tint looks more gray than taupe. What do you think? Maybe its lighting or whatever. (Sorry EC for x-posting on facebook). I used all the flake that came with the kit and mixed in 2 more containers of flake that I had from an old quickcrete bottle I had in storage. The paint flake looks to be 100% match.

Anyway, I found that the squeege provided was a godsend. I ended up using spiked shoes (the only way to go IMO) and troweling the paint with the squeege like a Zamboni lays new ice. I found that pushing the paint instead of pulling the squeege to be much easier when leveling.

Thank you EC for getting this product to the DIYer. It really blows away the DIY kits available at HD or Lowes. Dont hesitate if you are thinking of doing this project.

I just purchesed my first house, its in west michigan less than a mile from the lake (lots of snow, salt, and sand. The garage is for daily use and light metal fab. Also, the floor is less then perfect (bunch of cracks and patches) would the EC hold up or am i just going to have to deal with the concrete? Is there major prep needed? It doesnt appear to be painted but the structure was built in 85 so it has a layer of oil, grease, all the good stuff.

Also, the garage has 18" tall forms on the sides, can i coat up them somehow or will i need something other then the lowes kit?

Is it still wet in the pics or does it just shine that much??

The floor is still curing - it's not completely cured but can be walked on. I suspect it will stay looking shiny. The lady at lowes tried to sell me some clear (completely different manufacturer) but I dont see why you would need it if you are going for max shine.

My only experience prior to this was the 2 part kits like quickrete. Their kits are like pee wee football and this stuff is like the NFL!

You should not have to do any more prep than anyone else, the epoxy should work just fine for your floor. You also can go up the stem wall. Call me at the office and we can go over all the details.
