Seems like the stock number is wrong.... glad I am not alone, more time to pad the order I guess.

I may have missed the chance, are the metal box SK sets still available?
Thanks
Steve

It was a one day only thing especially for the event. The sets were made by SK to order. There was a 100per each set cap, but I doubt that they actually make all those. The sets were assembled after all the orders were placed, which put a small delay on processing those orders.

Keep an eye out for next year's event on 7/4/17. Perhaps SK will offer them again next year.:dunno:

We do have some SK sets in the metal box leftover.
Can't advertise them though, so you guys have to give us a call and we'll let you know what we've got.

thanks

Had my SK beak nose pliers cancelled, emailed Steve and was able to substitute another similar price item (protractor) to complete my order. Got my protractor today along with a couple of unexpected extra goodies! Great customer service Steve, Jori, and HJE!

Did anyone else know that Epstein's is working on their own bag? Check out their facebook page for a picture! It looks really nice!

Well, 3 months after I placed the order and thought maybe I should check on my order status. Emailed HJE. Steve was quick to answer. Apparently my order was shipped in July and got lost. Steve assures me that he is sending a replacement order out today. Going out of tow n for a couple days. Hope I have a nice surprise when I get home! Thanks to Steve and HJE!

I don't see what you are talking about, only the leather, and that nasty switch... I mean wooden spoon (anybody ever feel one of those in full swing? Definitely brings back memories ;^)

- what is "the bag" you speak of? They making a tool bag roll or something?
Thanks.

Harry Epstein said - Think they're about 12-14 inches wide.
1st prototype for Epstein's bag made in southern Missouri.

BTDT - when I was 14 I finally got up the courage and hide every wooden spoon my grandmother had in the house on top of the refrigerator (she's short). She didn't find them for 20yrs until the fridge died and needed to be replaced.

The guys delivering the new refrigerator handed her a huge pile of spoons and told her she forgot to clean the top of the fridge before they showed up. The next time I was at the house, she told me that she forgot where they were and couldn't remember why she put them up there. :lol_hitti

Thanks LB.

@Jake: Now that was hilarious.

Everytime I think of Grandma's spoon I cannot help also remembering Agnes Moorhead's wooden spoon in Richard Matheson's "The Invaders" on Twilight Zone...

Found it.... she gets the spoon at about 11:14

Now that's a spoon, and one you're gonna have a tough time hiding!
I could never unremember that (bless you Nona).

Please excuse my ignorance. What is Epstein's Day? Is it a one day sale by some business for GJ members? Thanks.

Share Your Epstein's Day Purchases Here
Here is the original thread for this idea: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154512

Here's the deal:

1. On July 4th, buy some tools from Harry J. Epstein. Buy a little or buy a lot, but buy something. I thought we could all buy within the same 12-hour window of time, but that might not matter. As long as you place your order on the 4th, you'll be just fine.

2. When you place your order, there will be a box in which you can write comments. At the very least, let them know you are from GJ. If you want to go beyond that and thank them for what they do, that's up to you.

3. Once your tools arrive, share pics of them with us here, in this thread. Don't start another thread about your Epstein's order, let's all just share them here.

That's it. Why are we doing this? Because some of us had the idea that Harry J. Epstein's is a great place. It's an old-fashioned, family-owned business that has a commitment to offering quality USA-made tools at good prices. And, they have excellent customer service; just look on their website for examples of the custom artwork they offer on your tool packages, FOR FREE. It's insane to get that level of care and attention from a company in 2012. Anyway, we want to support them, and Tool God Fedwrench suggested that combining our July 4th celebration of America with supporting a good old American company by buying their American tools would be just swell.

I'm going to lock this thread until after the 4th, so people can then post their tool hauls in here. Until then, if you want to talk about this (and we'd love for you to join us) then please use the thread linked at the top of this post.

Thanks for your time.

Oh, and here is a link to Epstein's website:

http://www.harryepstein.com/

There is a closeout section and a regular catalog section. To see all the items available, you really need to use the alphabetic tabbed menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

Epstein's Day is an event that GJ holds on the 4th of July in cooperation with the Harry J Epstein Co. They are a family run independent tool and hardware store in Kansas City that has been in business since 1933.

The purpose of the event is to support a small American business with a one day spending spree by the membership. In the spirit of the event, the owner (and a GJ member) often works with his suppliers to offer special deals and or incentives, with a special focus on American made brands. Hence the 4th of July date.

Now that it is 2017, I'll going to unstick this one. Once somebody gets a new thread started for this year, send me a PM and I'll sticky that one.
