I got an email that my order will ship tomorrow. I'm in no rush but I'm looking forward to getting it since this is the first order I've placed with HJE

The way I see it, we started Epstein's Day as a way to support YOU guys and show YOU that we appreciate who you are and what you do. So, while I get that you as a company and as awesome individuals value customer service and timely order processing, I would advocate that we all here at GJ cut you plenty of slack. I would HATE for this to become like a Groupon "deal", where the company that is supposed to benefit gets swamped with orders, has to hire temps to get them ready on time, and then ends up in the red on the deal.

Epstein's Day is about Harry J. Epstein and Co.!

Take your time.
Next year maybe I'll take vacation the week after the 4th and go help them pack orders. ;)

UPS man paid me a visit!

Channellock E326 needle nose
Channellock wire tool
20'' Grayvik superbar
Orange Mora light my fire knife
Purple Mora Stainless steel knife

Opened the box and even when I thought it was empty, the freebies kept coming!

Got the Channellock t-shirt, sharpening puck, and stamped name tag right when I opened it, but dug through the newspaper to find a channellock hat, sticker, and Charlie's art! Didnt get any box art on this one but I think I'm going to have another order worked up soon.

Thank you to Jori and all the Epstein crew!

The Mora knives are Sharp! Playing around with it and gave myself an official Epstein day battle wound

Just got back from vacation and got my goodies today. First thing I noticed was how well everything was packed. Everything was as expected or even better. Thanks to all at Harry J. Epstein!

I got my big *** 28" Proto pryba....I mean screwdriver in today. I neglected to mention my GJ username in my order but The guys at Epsteins still included the brass tag just with my last name instead along with the sharpening puck and Epstein's day art...very classy. Thanks to Jori and all the folks at Epsteins!

I googled "how to use a sharpening puck", and the best I got was a youtube video of this weird camouflaged guy with bracelets, who apparently rarely sharpens his crazy hollow axe "in the field" but is still kind enough to show us how he does it.
So I got a good laugh from that, but still don't see how we are supposed to use the sharpening pucks we're getting from Epstein's? They look quite a lot different from the ones in that youtube vid...

Here's a couple videos where they seem to be doing it right:

Basically, you're moving the stone in tight circles as you move it back and forth along the edge of the axe.

How did you come up with the box art? I know mine is based off my screen name but wondering about some of the others.

Hi this is Charlie the Art Intern. I was reading this thread and amazed at how excited and devoted to Epstein's you guys are. It's an awesome store and I am honored that Jori asked me to come in and draw for a few days.
The answer to your question may change depending on who is doing the art. Other than the past few days, either Jori or Josh handle the famous Box Art. So, I can only speak from my brief experiences. I will give you some points on how the thinking/imagining goes:
1)Some people make specific requests or give distinct themes for their Box Art. For example, earlier in the thread we saw a "sunbathing Sasquatch"- totally his idea (and a great one at that!). If you give us a specific theme, it's a starting point for us to play off of. This is a great opportunity to challenge the HJE crew and see your ideas come to full, cardboard color.
2)Then there are those who simply request "box art please". This is a lot of fun and a challenge in itself! Where do we begin making a painting for someone we don't know? What do they like? What don't they like? Where do they live? How do they live? What's their sense of humor? We can't possibly answer any of these so we just close our eyes and toss a dart (not literally, we don't want anymore hospital visits).
3) Sometimes we can use the username as a jumping off point if you express yourself in your handle.;)
4) Sometimes we play with ideas in the world of tools. (Look for a balloon man hovering over a bed of his own sharpened tools...):p
5) Sometimes we have to amuse ourselves. There have been two drawing games on this thread already!
6) Lastly, as I am drawing, there are images that just come out without real thought (see "man being nailed in the face by his dog") I don't know why these happen. Like a silly song you sing to yourself when you're working alone.:willy_nil

SO, please keep the box art requests coming! Be expressive. Have fun. Try to stump us! Good luck, have fun with your tools.

I just got my shipping notice saying my order will arrive tomorrow. Of course, I'm already in trouble because my wife caught me looking around the front door yesterday.

To all you guys posting pictures of your orders.... I hate you all ;) I already have another list of things I "need" that I "forgot" to include in my order. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to place another order (once the wife stops asking me why I need more tools).

Thanks for the 'behind-the-scenes-tour' Charlie. Adds to the overall experience. Looking forward to see how my art turns out.

An ax behind the seat in your truck doesn't upset the cops as much as the machete I keep under the seat. :lol_hitti

It's all a matter of where you live. If you lived in Central Florida, Puerto Rico or Hawaii, the machete wouldn't be given a second look, while the ax would have the cops doing a mental check of outstanding serial murderers.

Here's mine, kind of a Wilde Wednesday of my own.
It's a good thing I ordered from the closeout list and that I'm a tool user and not a tool polisher.

Why?
I'm gonna be the Debbie downer of this thread and say my packaging was horrible. All the pliers were on top of each other rubbing metal on metal, and over half the pins/chisels were loose and rubbing on the puck. You can see the chips out of the puck, everything had a fine puck dust on it. Heck, even my Wilde sticker is crumpled up.

However, I am still happy as these are niiiiice tools. The guys are just getting tired after packing 200 orders at this point.

Mine should be here tomorrow!

(I had requested delayed shipping as I was going to be out of town, didn't want it sitting on the porch over the weekend while I wasn't here)

Got my order today too. I got a call last week to tell me one item was unfortunately OOS and I was quite shocked. A few minutes conversation and I'm amazed how quick they got my order out knowing how many orders they were dealing with. Awesome job to Epstein's crew, and the packing... Skillfully done... No empty space in my box.
Also a big thanks for the shirts...being black I can wear them in the shop/store and not worry about shop dirt destroying them in one wear... Going to make the front end crew jealous as no one has these.

Bit of a Wilde day for me too...

Nice SK Shirt!!!

I got a call from Epstein's today asking for my T shirt size since I ordered some Wright items. Actually my answering machine took the call. Anyway, Talk about going above and beyond for customer service. I mean over with 200 orders in one day, box art requests, add in the fact that we're not an easy group to make happy with all of the special orders and demands mixed with the something for nothing crowd and yet they still found time to make a call to check with me. :shocking:

I salute Epstein's for going the extra mile for us and working so hard to get our orders out.:bowdown::bowdown:

It's a good thing this year is zipping by soo fast, I can start to put my next Epstein's day order together.

Well, I figured I'd give my new Epstein's Day axe sharpening puck a try. So I grabbed my old Collins axe from the shed and sat on the couch this evening giving it a good sharpenig with my wife looking at me like I'm nuts. Figured I'd snap a pic before I put it up. Turned out well, better than my normal file/vise method.

Got a call from HJE today. The back-ordered Wright wrench is in and my loot ships tomorrow! I know you guys have been anxiously waiting to see my order. :lol_hitti

And another thumbs up to HJE customer service. Two personal phone calls to keep me updated as to order status.

Still no ship notice here.... :(

I am sure your package has shipped, as I remember typing out a "Youngblood" tag. The notification would have come from USPS. It is possible the email address was entered incorrectly and you didn't get the notification. Regardless, your package should be there in the next few days.

We have a number of shipments coming in from Wright. Three of them came in at the beginning of this week. We expect another tomorrow. The only thing we are having trouble getting are the 3430 ratchets. Most everything else will be in by the end of this week.

thanks

Got mine today too. Picked up a couple of wright ratchets, some wilde pliers, and some norseman bits.

Very impressed with the bits. So friggin sharp out of the box, worlds better than my craftsman black oxide bits.

The wright ratchets are very nice too - can't wait give them a try. I need to change the plugs in one of my cars this weekend, which is a great excuse to use the ratchets!

For $7-8 the Wilde pliers are also hard to beat. Very similar to my old usa craftsman flush joint pliers, but I like the handle shape better.

I sent an email on Saturday to cancel my order as it is taking too long without ANY communication from them. Didn't get a reply to that either but maybe it went to the wrong email???

I don't mind waiting but there hasn't been any notification if something was backordered or what?????
