Mack that conduit trick was slick... Hope you are feeling better.

As an aside...I just got my Pacemaker wired up. I can see how this thing could rip off a 1/4” plus inch cut.... Now I need to change out the fluids, clean her up some more and start making some chips!

Mack you are so right about conduit it's cheap while the trench is open. I have plenty in the ground here, I need to put one more copper line in the ground to the shop and I am hoping that will be the end of trenching for me for a while.I was able to borrow a trencher for about a year I trenched power to all of my out buildings and put water/pex along with it. I even trenched 4" corrugated from the downspouts to the road. It will make life a lot easier in the future.[emoji106]

Hope you are feeling better.

Thanks for the well wishes Duke. I was feeling quite well until 2 days ago when it became obvious that I had some sort of infection in my incision going on.
Went to the doc yesterday and they did a flush job on me and put me on antibiotics.

I'm taking a vacation from the day job again.

. I even trenched 4" corrugated from the downspouts to the road.

Jim, I'm working on a drainage plan now and will have to rent the trenching attachment one more time. I'll be putting in some more pipe for a future RV pad while I have the trencher here.

Speaking of trenching, last week I added an irrigation line out to the bamboo that will block the shop view from the house. Laura had been hand watering it and the got old so we put in a new line and tied it into our existing irrigation system. It was a relatively short (80') and shallow run so I just put the 2 forks together on the bobcat and stuck the forks in the ground to dig the trench.

I'm driving up to Georgia next Monday to pick up the metal liner panels for the shop interior.

A few years ago, back on post #51 of this thread, I built a pair of steel tables. I never got to use these tables for anything and they just collected stuff as bare horizontal surfaces tend to do. No that I have them here at the Grove, I am going to put them to use as I had intended when I built them.

I have always wanted an Acorn fab table but I never found one at a price I could afford, so these tables will fill that need. The top is 30"X72"X3/4" thick. I bought a bunch of strong hand clamps from Fireball tool, Jason has the best price.
I'm drilling the table top in a 2 x 2 pattern of 5/8" holes. It's a long term project drilling the holes. I have 26 of about 200 or so holes drilled already. I'll just leave everything set up and drill a few holes here and there and eventually I'll have it all done. I think the it comes time to drill the second table top, I'll do a 4 x 4 pattern.

Damn Mac, that's a lot of holes to drill.

I recently added a few holes to my fabrication/welding table but can't bring myself to add any more at this time.

Mack I need to build a fab table, I have a buddy with a laser I wonder if it would cut holes good enough to use spring clamps. He can set up a 4" grid and blow the holes in no time.
Be real careful with that knee buddy for some reason infection likes those steel knees. I'm probably going to have to go back and get scare tissue cut out of mine, there getting bad, only 2 years old.

I've been slowly drilling more holes in the table, I think I'm up to about 60 holes now.

Monday I drove up north to pick up the steel to finish the inside of the shop. I'm using 29ga white steel with a 3/4" rib profile. I have to attach a steel angle to the floor to screw the bottom of the panels. When I put up the outside tin on the building I drilled the angle and concrete and used drive pins to attach the angle to the concrete.

I thought I might take a different approach this time. I'm using a Ramset with 1" pins and it worked great. I got one piece of angle nailed down and the first 2 panels put up yesterday in about 2 hours. I think I should be able to get a fair amount more done today, as long as my left knee holds up.

I'm pretty happy with how it looks and it is saving me a bunch of time and money instead of framing for OSB and then having to paint it as I had originally planned.

Looks good Mac.

For that, I’d use the Ramsey also, whole lot quicker.

What are you using for top frame?

When your done, I have my 1-3/4” plate for my welding table that can use some holes.:lol_hitti

I can set up up in a wheeled stool so you won’t bother your knee going between the table and beer fridge.

I used ramset for interior angle but as I’m finding out my concrete isn’t the best.

I like the white metal panels. As Craig asked, some J channel will finish the tops off. I’m thinking it’s time for another road trip to Green Cove.

Just finished your thread. I like your shop but may be a bit small for your STUFF. also am a little jealous of your escape from NJ. I am still a full time resident in the Dirty Jersey and will be for the near future. Thanks for sharing. Ed

Thanks for stopping in Ed, sorry to hear you're still trapped in the Garbage State. My kids still live in Jersey so until I can convince them to move out, I still have to go back and forth to NJ.

I've been pretty busy working on the shop interior the last few days. After getting 1 and a half walls done, I had a little delay. When I poured the slab for the shop I had an approximate idea where the toilet and sink were going to go. I'm pretty much stuck with the location for the toilet, but I decided to move the sink around the corner to the east wall. So a little drain piping needed to be installed. Then I needed to get all the supply piping installed.

Tomorrow I should be back hanging tin on the wall I just plumbed.

I really want to get this all done before my next knee surgery on 12/18. Then Laura informed me that we will be having guests roll in the day after my surgery to stay at the Grove in their RV. So now I have to shift gears to trench and install the RV pad utilities before 12/18. The RV utilities are getting supplied from the shop.

With any luck I should be able to get some work done in the shop after the day job for the rest of this week.

Clever idea on the pex grommet. You do know you’re in Florida and we just pee outside.

Looking good.

It's been a while since I did an update and a few things have got done but not as much as I would have liked to get done.

I managed to get the utilities to the RV pad done in time for our visitors to arrive.

I got my second knee replaced and it's been a bumpy recovery. I still can't do much of anything yet but I hope to be able to get back to work on the shop soon.

Before my surgery I managed to get almost 3 walls covered with the white tin I bought. I also got some wall cabinets installed and started unpacking totes into the cabinets. The benches are in their permanent locations and it's starting to look like a shop.

It's been 5 weeks since I was able to do much of anything and I'm anxious to get back to work. Sitting around looking at the computer all day is costly. I was looking on CL and MP for a used scissor lift and found nothing. I went to Iron Planet and they had a bunch of equipment from Sunbelt on the auction block. I wound up bidding and winning a Genie ES1930. So when I'm able to get back to work, the man lift will make hanging conduit on the ceiling a breeze.

May I ask how much the Genie cost? I'm building a shop with 14' walls and torn between a man lift and scissor lift.

Sorry to tell you, but that looks nothing like a shop. It can't be, I can see the floor. [emoji38][emoji38]

But seriously it's looking good. Just don't do what I did and fill it full of junk.

Wow what a transformation Mack. Looking really good. I’m thinking road trip might be in order soon.

Thanks for X-ray. I’ve often wondered what a “new” knee looks like.

bored, my max bid was $2500 and that was enough.

Andrew, give me a few days of flea market browsing and a little bit of Craigslist and I'm sure that floor will disappear.

Looking good there Mac.

Thanks Craig

Did you mill those implants yourself ?
Shop is shaping up. Missed you at Muscle Car City.

I'm sorry I missed it too John.

Maybe in a few months I'll roll out the welcome mat for the local guys.

Good luck on your recovery, I may have to have mine done soon, they are killing me.
Love that lathe and the manlift.
Your shop is looking great.

RJ, this is my second knee in a little less than 3 months, once I get all the bugs worked out I'll be good as new. Don't wait to do it.

Congrats on the new knee. You will be doing that Russian squat dance in no time.

I might need some good vodka to make that happen Willie

The shop is coming together nicely Mac. Glad to see you to the moving in stage.

Best of luck with the knee recovery.

Thanks Mike, the shop is starting to feel like a shop again. Putting things back where they belong sure feels good.

Today was major. I got all the receptacles installed and wired on the east wall. Twelve 20 amp receptacles on two circuits.

The new man lift worked great for hanging conduit. I haven't bent pipe in a long time and Was never really good at it, but it felt great to bend two 90's on two different planes and have it come out right, and I can still bend an offset.

I mounted some small parts drawers above the benches just as they were in my last shop and things are starting to feel like home again.

The big 10 gauge extension cord that ran from the breaker panel to the other side of the shop is gone and that makes me happy.

One more wall to put tin up on and then it's more electrical work to get all the spindles turning. I'm hoping that I might be close to having it all done in the next few months.
