If you like Swiss Army Knives, this guy in Canada known as SAKmodder does crazy mods for them. Anodized aluminum scales in various colors, titanium, mix-and-match tools per customer request. Guy is amazing.

Not my pic, mines not this pretty.
Scott

Them boys is heavy, wears a hole in my pocket. I use the snap-off utility knives with pocket clip. Can usually get them for less than a buck at NAPA or Harbor Freight and they are pretty much all I need.

Usually a delica 4 and leatherman squirt cs4. Also in the rotation are benchmade griptilian, paramilitary 2, manix 2 lightweight, dragonfly 2. And then at times I add leatherman wave.

Not that I have one yet but Maine has just repealed the ban on Automatic Knives (Switchblades) Anyone know who makes a good one these days suitable for everyday carry?

Hubertus (Germany) make by far the best!

The old Boker leverlocks (712?) were nice too, and small runs occasionally materialise still. Don't know if the modern ones are as well ground as the originals. As they are intended for the European market, they may be!

Sadly, for reasons I don't understand, once a European knife becomes destined for the U.S. it seems to become 'de rigeur' to supply them with really crappy ground blades!

In some European shops (the discerning ones) you can still find the odd Bob Klaas, which are as superbly ground as the Hubertus, if not finer!

Sorry these are all euro manufacturers, hopefully some are available stateside!

The attached article mentions states where they are legal.

Pro-tech and bench made both have good ones, autos are a little pricey. I have 1 of each, they're pretty neat but really no faster than some assisted knives. A boot knife might be a better choice if you're thinking about self protection, not carried in your boot though. For an everyday carry that will do anything an assisted buck is pretty hard to beat. I've seen some bucks that have been converted to autos.

Thanks crab, will look into them. Mostly want to get one, or more, before the door closes again.

I have a Kershaw Green Smoke Blur Tanto Blade Limited Edition spring-loaded knife that I got off Amazon for about $60. The thing gets better every time I open it. I love all my USA Kershaws, but this little guy is something special.

Benchmade Mini griptilian.
Got two of them.
I had lost one so ended up getting another.
Was burning a large fire and when it died down, I scooped up the ashes with the tractor to dump. Then scooped up the little that was left with the shovel. In my little shovel scoop, I found my benchmade knife that I had lost......

The blue is the knife I bought to replace it. The black (burnt) was originally the same blue...

$35 later and great customer service, Benchmade completely went through my knife, replaced the handles, sharpened the blade, and I had a brand new knife after surviving the fire

Got to like that Waggoner. Benchmade is a pretty interesting story.....production wise. Currently all USA. I like that service, and the lock feature is a good one.
Looking damn good on the after photos.
