I'll see if I can get some more recent pics tonight.
I've had the box over a year now and it's one of my favorite possessions.
Awesome for home garage.

Thanks for the props, 20 years of tools filled it up.
Not too much I can't do around the house with this arsenal.

Just FYI, I purchased an Extreme Tools 41 inch 11-drawer rolling cabinet a year ago and was satisfied with the purchase until I rolled the unit into my garage, which has a slight height difference at the threshold between the garage slab and the driveway. Even though the toolbox wasn't fully loaded (much less than each drawer is rated for as specified on their website), rolling over the 1/4" garage lip caused the sheet metal underneath the cabinet to buckle on the seam, right where the caster is bolted to. This buckling causes the two cabinets to lean about 10 degrees, and i'm unable to roll the cabinet safely now. The other caster is starting to bend as well due to the mismatched height of the two back casters.

After calling the company and submitting a warranty claim, the company representative states that "the owner of the company has determined that this is not a factory defect." and have stopped responding to communication. So I'm out over a thousand dollars because Extreme Tools will not honor their own warranty. Buyer beware, these Chinese made toolboxes look nice but do not hold their rated weight and the US marketing company that rebrands them has no intention of standing behind their product.

This is a first I've heard this. A ton of techs have these and roll them all over shops in some cases fully loaded.

Also, interesting you just joined and this was your first post.

I think that's very fair to point out that it seems I've joined simply to comment upon these toolboxes, and that's, in fact, quite true in this case. I felt that it was appropriate because it was this very forum that I happened upon when searching for the reputation of this company which seemed satisfactory when I was doing my research, so I wanted to correct the record here since I found the exact opposite to be true.

Also, since you've stated that "This is a first you've heard this," I'd like to mention that my negative review on StrictlyToolboxes.com was "moderated" and won't be seen amongst the glowing 5-star reviews of people's first impressions when unpacking their new toolboxes. Forums like this might be the only source of unmoderated real information if retailers like strictlytoolboxes choose to remove any negative sentiment from their sales pages (as they seem to be doing).

I wonder if there is more to the story, or if Shannon will weigh in?
I need a toolbox soon, and figured this a great place to do some research.
This sounded like a very good option, until the end here.

Dunno why everyone is joining and posting a couple posts about these boxes and leaving. Rockintoolboxes.com sells a bunch of these, scratch and dent and new, great feedback and reviews. The guys on the snap on tools buy sell page on Facebook have great things to say, 100+ comments, some from users, some from haters. But good things. What people do say is spend the coin and get the heavier gauge box, with the heavier drawer slides. It's like a kra vs a KRL from snap on.

Oh and I'd like to add, yes I think there is more to that story, perhaps the owner hit the slab to fast, it's hard to know since he's 5 posts into this forum and appears to have left.

Don't worry, I'm still lurking around -- I hate to have this be my entree into the community here, but the issue still isn't resolved.

As an update of sorts, I received an alarming letter from the CEO of the ExtremeTools today threatening legal action against me for posting negative reviews on Amazon. Should be a fun one to post up here if things continue to go south with these guys.

Seriously? Considering they are active on this board and seem to handle warranty aspects pretty well (at least here) I'd like to see what you said on amazon to prompt that kind of response from them. Got a link?

EDIT: Never mind I found it pretty easy. Ya know if what you said about receiving a cease and desist letter from them if true I find that very disturbing. It sure looks like you have a legitimate complaint after seeing the pictures. And after seeing the pictures I have anothe question. Does the bottom of that box have any other reinforcing that the wheels bolt too or is it strictly just the sheet metal bottom?

To save everyone the trouble, what I posted earlier (back in November) is a cut/paste of the review on Amazon. Also, I didn't get a C&D, just a threatening letter from the CEO, who is apparently a Juris Doctor from the prestigious College of Dupage. His use of bolded scare text was indeed quite alarming.

I just pulled out the drawer and looked inside to see the inner structure and the caster is simply bolted to a single sheet of 1/8" sheet metal. The corner structure where it sits under is the logical place to anchor it for stability and maximum strength, but as you can see from the picture, it doesn't have any further reinforcement (folds/creases or additional bracing), which is what you seem to be asking. It really just comes down to the strength of that particular sheet of steel underneath.

After I posted I looked at your pics closer. It's obvious the reinforcements aren't there for a box rated at that capacity. I also think it's very repairable if you're a crafty guy. It ***** it's up to you to fix but considering they wrote you off already doesn't leave you with much of a choice does it?

Well if ST is watching this is a story I won't forget the next time I am out looking at another box to add.

It's really not too bad looking but with a top case full of tools, boy howdy is this whole thing unstable and dangerous due to the severe lean angle. Bending the mild steel back into place might indeed be doable, but I think I'd feel uneasy knowing that it would be even more prone to reoccur.

I sincerely believe that this is an irregular defect, especially considering most of the reviews here and elsewhere are quite positive. Their handling of an irregularity is troubling, however. It's unfortunate how they've chosen to handle this. Still hoping that we can figure something out.

I'd straighten out the box and have a chunk of 3/16" plate sheared to the exact same dimension of the bottom of the box and thru bolt the wheels back on. It'll never do that again.

This warranty request started with Extreme Tools customer service team. I am not certain why Extreme denied it. A review was posted on our site with a fairly grainy picture of a blue box with what appeared to be a large dent and bold red text that read “Extreme Scam”. Internally we viewed it more as spam than a real review. In hindsight, I should have tracked down the customer to get an understanding of what was going on. On Friday January 5th a Garage Journal member asked me about this thread, specifically if we had any knowledge of Extreme Tools threat of legal action against a past customer. I did not. I then reached out to the President of Extreme Tools to try to understand their side. After that, I tracked down the customer. I worked with the customer and they were able to provide much better pictures and short video clearly showing the frame damage. Before close of business Friday Jan 5th I had committed to shipping them a warranty replacement box. It is scheduled to deliver Wednesday Jan 17th.

We have worked very hard for the last 10 years to develop and maintain a reputation for providing excellent customer service. When a tool box is purchased from StrictlyToolboxes we would prefer that all warranty requests start with us. Manufactures have their standards for customer service and we have ours.

Regarding the threat of legal action from one of our suppliers, Strictly Toolboxes cannot control other's actions, but we can control whose products we choose to distribute. If one of our suppliers does sue one of our customers over their opinion, we would immediately stop doing business with that supplier. We take the Garage Journal reviews, positive or negative, very seriously, and we value the right to freedom of speech in writing those reviews.

Well, according to the website, the only lime green boxes are the lighter weight models by other manufacturers.
I just need tool storage, but my kids love the lime green color.
Oh well....

Rockintoolboxes.com is legit. Brian Clark is his name, he's always filming videos in the warehouse at extreme in Naperville. Shannon is a member here also for strictly toolboxes.com

Hey guys, I have to say thank you guys for the reviews on the extreme tools tool boxes and I’m really considering upgrading to the full 72” setup with hutch and 2 cabinets. I recently just passed up a used box offer from snap on which is basically the same dimensions and setup of what I’m looking at with extreme tools, only it’s $23k new, he wanted $14k and with my trade ins and rebates came to $6,800. I probably passed up one hell of a deal but I think I’m better off getting the extreme tools setup and sell off my 2 Matco boxes and in the end only pay maybe $2,000. Somebody please correct me if I’m wrong but I think this would be the best way. Which brings me to my main question, I currently have a Matco 6s double bank with stainless top I bought new for $5,500 and a Matco 4s double bank (nothing special) I got used from a friend for a undisclosed price. Both of which are in decent shape, the 6s has some knicks and scratches and the 4s has a small dent in the face of one drawer (got it that way) snap on offered me $7,000 for both on trade in, so my question is what do you guys think they are worth? Do I go off the trade in value? And any info you guys could give about what I am looking to do would be great!! P.s. it’s probably fate that the 120” setup literally fits perfectly with a half inch to spare where I can place a box at my work!!! Haha 10 year independent shop mechanic represent! :rocker:

I'm not certain, but I think that you don't wanna go off of trade value. Other members can chime in on the value. But it seems somehow snap on manages to give outrageous trade values on boxes that aren't worth what the trade value is. Not saying your isn't, but I've heard some crazy trade numbers on here and feedback has been that there is no way that kind of value in that specific box.

As for extreme boxes. I personally like the extra value for the ex series, the heavier drawers, drawer slides and structure to me is worth the cost. Talk to Shannon on here Global_72 or is it Global72, one or the other. I just don't recall if his username has an underscore. He works with strictlytoolboxes.com and is a good dude. I've spoke to him on here and on the phone. He also sells the tool vault and I think it's gator boxes or something.

Also, Brian Clark over at Rockintoolboxes.com is a good dude too, he gets a lot of scratch and dent setups and gets some wild colors and prices. I just saw an extreme green one with a hutch he sold a guy. I personally hate the green, but giving an example.

Thank you for the input, honestly privately selling I don’t think I’d be able to get 7k for both but any little bit will help, I’m fully stocked with these two boxes and need room to expand. That being said I am set on the 72” x 30” deep box with the hutch and lockers, I dont really want to go any other way. And my ideal box would be lime green with black trim I just haven’t found the setup I want with green from extreme tools, and I’ve looked into tool vault and everything is on backorder. Plus tool vault doesn’t offer the 25” side lockers and the price is substantially lower which leads me to believe the quality isn’t there compared to extreme tools. If it comes down to me selling my Matco boxes I just don’t want to lowball myself. As for the color I will gladly settle for the black extreme tools setup but I’m just as a cross between that and tool vault. It would be nice if someone could tell me the differences and what I could honestly get for my boxes

Is that the 72” X 30” in your picture?? If so how did you get the green with black? Do they offer the lockers in the same colors? And how much? Sorry for the million questions lol but that is literally my forever box!

I honestly don't recall the dimensions on that green box. I know it was mentioned though.

Don't let the tool vault prices sway you. I knew a guy that had one, it was a sturdy box. I didn't like his hutch door though, cause it didn't have shocks or anything to keep it from closing hard. I'd say give Shannon a call and talk to him, Brian is a good dude, but he's strictly extreme. Myself, I was buying extreme cause I liked it better, but I ended up with a used snap on for less money.

Oh and Brian Clark gets a lot of feedback from Facebook members, people making requests of what they would want and he goes to the people at extreme. That's how some of these colors come in. He recently had a black one with and Indian motoryon it from extreme. I've see black with different color trim work. It's not always about the manufacturer, they gotta listen to their customers too.

Well, I am finally in a position to purchase.
I have checked in with Shannon’s site, and Brian’s site looking for the Lime Green in at least a 72” size.
Hopefully I hear back soon.

Both websites feature the green 72" and are pretty easy to find. All specs laid out as well.
