It’s starting to get the feel of a “penalty box”. Do you have a fridge and microwave yet?
Capt I do have a fridge, I do not have a microwave.

My daughter was visiting on Christmas Day, when we visited the shop for her to see my progress, she asked me this question “So does mom know you’re moving out?”

Just found your thread and like an old ******* - I flipped through pages just looking at the pictures. :D
What a great property, barn, vehicles, craftsmanship, and idea's!! You've nailed everything so far!

I'll be hanging around for awhile for sure. (y)

Very nice job on the shop!! Sure hope the highway does not happen.
Thank you sir. There should be a public meeting this month. We will have more information after that.

Thanks! It’s certainly not perfect, but considering 99% of the interior work was done single handed, it turned out pretty good.

Thanks mate! My HJ45 came from SA. One plate was on it when I purchased it. The other plate a friend bought for me after I finished the rebuild of my truck. BTW during the rebuild I changed the 45 from RHD to LHD.

Sorry, I don’t. I know it was originally imported to the Massachusetts area (the northeast section of the US). I bought it from the second owner state side.

Cheers
Thanks , no problem just another car mystery for the books , we have come across cars or part off cars in Australia and were baffled how they got here

cheers

I bought a parts lot from marketplace about 3 weeks ago. They finally arrived today. It was a 238 lbs pallet of new and used 55’-56’ GMC parts, truck delivered to my work. He only showed two boxes in the add. There were 8 boxes in total with a number of loose parts shrink wrapped to the boxes.

I have done this before with varying results. Sometimes you get a great deal and sometimes you barely break even. This time I think I did very well. I won’t bore you guys with the details, but the crown jewel of the lot is an original 56’ clock. I have never seen one in person before today and now I own one 🤓

Little roadsters are so fun to drive. How do you like the Conti's? Those are summer tires correct? I will drive the Miata in the winter if it isnt raining too hard and when there isn't a lot of brine down on the roads.

I really do enjoy the S. This my second one. The other tires were Continentals also and I liked them. I put a few hundred miles on them before swapping them out. I have only put a few miles on these new tires and they are different. They have a much stiffer sidewall and are sticky. I hope they’re not just summer tires, the S is my daily. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@Michael B. Long time viewer, and finally made a GJ account. I just read through your build thread and enjoyed the journey! We relocated to HSV July of 2022 with the intent of settling for a while, which means I finally get the chance to build a shop. Neighborhood constraints led to me putting up a 24x36 building (brick to match the house) with a 10x20 covered patio. I am on the West side of Huntsville, south of Town Madison and directly out Gate 7 of the Arsenal.

Thanks Joe. I’m over in the Chase/Mooresmill area. We have been here since 96’. The area has really changed a lot since then. Maybe when it gets a little warmer we can get together in person.
I can only imagine watching the area build up over the past 2+ decades. Things have changed rapidly in just our short time. I have the privilege of hunting some private land just North of you in Hazel Green. I am always up for meeting liked minded folks, and better yet, lending a hand where capable.

The brick went on my building the past two days, so I am getting close to being able to take over and start working on the inside.

You need to start a thread with pictures. ;)

Today after giving the S a quick tuneup and bath, I turned my attention to the the GMC. Since the 56’ is no longer insured, I have decided to use those body parts for alignment and measurements. The rusty cab has a body mount that has succumbed to cancer, so didn’t want to trust any measurements made with it. But before scrapping the cab , I needed the roof for patch material.

Today was a very busy. A fellow cruiser head came over early with his sons 2014 Silverado that needed a starter. About 45 mins later the job was come complete. I really like my lift? Then I awoke my HJ45 Land Cruiser from its winter slumber and drove it to the south end of town for a LC club “wrench” meeting. After returning home, I finished the demolition of the rusty cab.
