Yesterday I completed the move of the green shed on to the rear slab. I also reinstalled the metal around the base, all trim and anchored it to the slab. This move immensely improved the view from the house!

A friend of mine has let me use his Kabota tractor for a while. So I started moving some of the larger items from the garage into the shop. Then I started moving the green shed onto the slab behind shop. Everything was going great, until it wasn’t. The only left to right cross member in the building failed. It had enough of the pushing and pulling. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Time to fall back and regroup.

I had to read this 2x and take a look at the pics again............................I was worried you were talking about the new shop until I figured it out.

It’s been a busy week. The goal was to have the garage cleaned out so 👸🏻 can park in it. It will be the first time in her life she has been able to park in a garage. Below are some before and after pictures. I had the week off, thanks to Corona 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is the first time I have seen your thread. Don't know how I have missed. Like most here I am so jealous. You have convinced me though that this is the type of garage I want. I now have the money for the garage, but land prices have gone crazy. I just can't win.

I worked for a company 82-85 that located me to Alabama. My boss looked at a map of the state and said, "you can live in Birmingham or Montgomery or in-between". If they had let me move to the Huntsville area like I wanted, I would have stayed there after they laid me off as I loved north Alabama. I spent about half my time in the area and the other half in South Alabama. I was never home. If I had moved to North Alabama, at least I would have been home 1/2 the time. I met a lot of good farmers and extension people.

All of my mothers family live in south Alabama. So I spent a lot of time there. I attended kindergarten and my 12th grade of HS there. I did not discover Huntsville until I was 35 (1996). It is a unique spot in the south. I could not live in south Alabama but I’m probably in Huntsville to stay. Although recently a lot of other people have been discovering the best kept secret in the south. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Now Huntsville is surely on my 'visit' list.

Saturday I started installing the insulation. I learned a few things pretty quickly. First installing insulation in the ceiling single handed is a very slow and frustrating process. Second my 61 year old knees and neck don’t appreciate that kind of work! So I hired my SIL to handle it for me while I’m working out of town this week. I think he made good progress for his first day!

Insulation is one of those jobs that absolutely **** but is completely worth it when it's done. Btw the shop looks great!

Is there a story behind the royal navy ensign hanging in your garage?

Thanks! I agree on insulation being difficult job with long term dividends.

I served in the USN. One of our ports of call was was in the UK. I acquired the flag at that time.

what a great looking building. I love your truss design too.
Thanks Turbodsl. I have 2 turbo diesels in my shop. The Toyota has a 12HT, which is an inline 6 turbocharged from the Toyota factory. There is also a 6BT hiding in that rusty GMC pile of parts, that we lovingly refer to as Tetanus.

I just read your thread too and wanted to say what a great looking shop you have there. I like the overhang in the front and it looks like you have plenty of space inside. Your trucks are nice too, enjoy your new shop!

I started demolition on the pole barn this weekend. Saturday it was just me so it was slow progress. Sunday my neighbor joined me and better progress was made. I measured the building at 42x80x16. I only ran off one very large raccoon and one fair sized rat. I’m glad it was cool so the wasp community wasn’t very active. The pictures were taken at the end of each day.

I arrived at the pole barn Saturday to find someone had helped themselves to all of the wood I had pulled and stacked on Monday and Tuesday. I can’t stand a thief!

Other than that, Saturday was a good day. I have salvaged half of the roof now. No pictures of Saturday’s progress.

The ceiling insulation was finished on Thursday. I took a break from demolition today to take care of a few items around the house and I helped a friend in the afternoon. When I returned home I started insulating the walls.
