OP
A friend of mine has let me use his Kabota tractor for a while. So I started moving some of the larger items from the garage into the shop. Then I started moving the green shed onto the slab behind shop. Everything was going great, until it wasn’t. The only left to right cross member in the building failed. It had enough of the pushing and pulling.Time to fall back and regroup.
Looks great! Did you charge him by the hour or by the beer. The inaugural lift took place today. A very good friend needed to change the oil and rotate tires on his Land Cruiser, so I invited him over to use the lift.

Now Huntsville is surely on my 'visit' list. All of my mothers family live in south Alabama. So I spent a lot of time there. I attended kindergarten and my 12th grade of HS there. I did not discover Huntsville until I was 35 (1996). It is a unique spot in the south. I could not live in south Alabama but I’m probably in Huntsville to stay. Although recently a lot of other people have been discovering the best kept secret in the south.![]()
I'm starting to itch from here. The insulation was delivered today.

Thanks! I agree on insulation being difficult job with long term dividends.Insulation is one of those jobs that absolutely **** but is completely worth it when it's done. Btw the shop looks great!
Is there a story behind the royal navy ensign hanging in your garage?
Thanks Turbodsl. I have 2 turbo diesels in my shop. The Toyota has a 12HT, which is an inline 6 turbocharged from the Toyota factory. There is also a 6BT hiding in that rusty GMC pile of parts, that we lovingly refer to as Tetanus.what a great looking building. I love your truss design too.
I'd really like to put a turbo diesel in my 3rd gen 4Runner some day. Thanks Turbodsl. I have 2 turbo diesels in my shop. I don’t want to clean oak leaves out of the gutters. The gravel around the front porch catches runoff on the front and concrete catches it on the back.Hello there, just finished reading your thread. NICE building. Question, why no gutters. Aesthetics???
