Both footings were dug and poured today. For some reason I can’t upload the second picture.

I have been struggling for the last few months with being able to upload pictures to GJ. I’m a member of another forum that I post to on a regular basis. I have had some trouble with pictures there as well, but not nearly as much as I have here. Does anyone else have these same issues?

@Toolfool Thanks John! This has always been part of my original plan for the shop. I only recently found a mason interested in performing the work.

There shouldn’t be a problem since this is dry stacked stone and the cap will be caulked to the building. I think I’m going to hedge my bets though and spray a line of foam between the building and the backside of the wall. This will accomplish two things. First it will help to keep any water on top of the wall from going behind it. Second it will act as an attachment point near the top of the wall.

Day four.
Imagine a completed wall, minus the top cap, on the north end of the building and about 10% of the wall started on the south end of the building. (My struggles with picture uploads on GJ continue).

What file format are the photos being output in? My Iphone produces .HEIC photo files, a silly format that doesn't upload most places.

I’m not sure what format the pictures are in. I am using an iPhone 13. I uploaded the same pictures on another forum, without Wi-Fi, without a problem. On GJ with or without Wi-Fi I can’t load the pictures.

Thanks guys! The stone is turning out nicely. Today they finished the south wall and started laying out the top cap. I received a text letting me know I need 58’ additional of the top cap. 😳. I had suspicions this might be the case. My original plan was to split the 12” wide top cap long ways to make two 6” x 24” pieces. The walls are about 7”-8” from the face of the sheet metal. So that doesn’t work. I ordered 30 more pieces 🥺

Wow, lots of stuff going on at your place since the last time I checked your thread. Love the look of the vintage metal on your interior walls and the rock on the outside. Nice work!

Thanks Jay! I am pushing to finish the shop by the end of the year, if not sooner. This has been a fun project but I have a lot of other fun projects waiting.

The stone mason recommended that a sealer be applied in about a week. We talked about brands and I think I have decided on what I will use. I decided to rinse the stone off because it was all dirty and there was some dust from cutting the top cap on one portion of a wall. I could not believe the difference a fresh water rinse made. The color of the stones are really visible now. They are very vivid wet but when they dry there is still a huge difference.

I had a rather productive weekend in the shop. If I had some 2”x12” material on hand I could have stood the second wall up and been finished with the wall framing. BTW I bought 1-2”x6”x20’ board for this part of the project. All of the other 2”x6” materials were either leftover from the initial build of the shop or salvaged. There are 24-2”x6” studs plus the jacks, cripples and plates. I’m also at the eyed my 25 lbs bucket of 3” screws I purchased in January.

I started the afternoon moving stuff around so I could start installing the beam on the wall over my framed room. When I came to the window I decided the safest place for it was installed. So I did! It’s difficult to see in the picture but X marks the spot 😉
Then I started working on the beam. Sorry no pictures of the beam. I forgot to take one 🤷🏻‍♂️
