I know it's not a real word, but whenever I see a batch of pics showing all that work, all I can think of is "Awesomer and awesomer!"

Those two chairs in the driveway look mightly inviting. I'd be tempted to just sit and look now and then. I kinda did that with mine when it was done. I'd just walk in think, 'Wow, this is really cool. And, holy sheet, it's mine!'

Keep 'em coming!

Thats shaping up really nice, it looks great all trimmed out. The landscaping is going to look great all greened up in the spring. Those lights will lighten that up like daytime. We'll need all the pictures of when they put the lift in. Sweet!

Thanks guys, it is coming together great and I am itching to start on building benches and shelves and such.

Two words a guy like you knows well: Deferred Gratification. Get the one you'll want in a year. My in-ground Rotary is black, and I'm happy with it.

Mark

If you have the option for a black Rotary, go with it. You aren't going to be work-ready next week anyway, so a little time won't matter.

Well, the only problem is that my floor will be here next week, the electrician is going to be there as well, plus I am getting antsy for it all to be finished.

Thanks for the updates. Still enjoying this thread everyday.

I am glad and there will be more to come, that is for sure.

Hold out for the black lift.

My rep just called me and he has a order with Rotery right now and said he is going to call and see if they can paint one black for me!!!!:bounce:

Now, that would be so awsome. He said if that is the case, he could get it in by next week!!!!!

I will have to see what he finds out.

Do it once and do it right.... if you get the blue one you'll wish you'd waited and gotten the black one you really wanted.

For that compressor room did you do any special noise insulation above and beyone normal wall insulation?

Are they going to paint the doors a brighter white or leave it that off-white/cream color?

With grading is there any type of common rules they follow or do they just push the dirt around until it looks nice and won't let water pool anywhere?

What's the propane tank for? Will it be propane heat out there?

Go with the one you want -- a few more weeks even is not huge in the larger scope of things, and you'll be living with this garage for a *long* time. Now is not the time to get impatient, grasshopper. :)

Well, I will answer your questions in the order in which you asked:

No I did not, just normal insulation and drywall on both sides. The compressor that I am getting should not be that loud anyways, so I think I will be OK.

Yes they are going to paint the doors to match the white wall color.

Yes there is a common rule, try and grade the dirt to where the water runs away from the house/garage/shed/ or what ever you are working on. You never want the grade going toward the structure. THEN they make it look nice and smooth it all out.

The Propane if for the heat and the tankless hot water heater that I have. If I ever turn the upstairs into a apartment, then that too will have gas heat. Also, if I ever decide down the road to install a generator for my house, I am going to set it next to the garage and use THAT tank to run it, that way I do not drain my house tank.

Go with the one you want -- a few more weeks even is not huge in the larger scope of things, and you'll be living with this garage for a *long* time. Now is not the time to get impatient, grasshopper. :)

I know, I know, Patients is hard right now, cause I want to take advantage of the long week of Thanksgiving to work in the garage. IE, put the RaceDeck down, build all my shelves and work benches, install the speakers, install the projector and screen, you get the idea.

I AM going to wait on the black one though, so all is good. I just hope my Rep calls and says he was able to get one of the ones he currently has on order with them painted black, then I am golden!!

Thanks for all the input guys:thumbup:

Oh, And wait till you see the pics from today when I post them tonight, I stopped out at lunch and let me tell ya.........................:bounce:

Good on you for holding out for the black one that you really want. It's just a couple of weeks even worst case.

 Can't wait to see the pictures -- they've been keeping me going while I'm laid up with my broken ankle.

OK, when I went home at lunch, they had a bunch done, at least to me.

It is not finished, yet, but I got COLOR on the walls and it really made the garage a whole nother space AND they set all the cabinets too. Also got alot of the trim on the doors done too!! AND started on the siding.

Here you go, I hope you guys will think it is as exciting as I think it is, if not, then I don't want to hear it.:p

Now, there will be a red strip that goes in between the black and grey to split it up, so the dark colors are not right next to each other. They are so going to do the post in the same color scheme, with grey, then red, and the rest all black, I think will look pretty good.

Well, I hope it was worth the wait.............

Hope you don't mind, I just have this image of you and your son jumping around, giddy as can be, and your wife sitting there, saying "Yes dear, it is VERY exciting.":)

I know I was giddy as could be when my parents added on a simple one car addition to their garage. My mother was more interested in when the noise was going to stop, though. Don't know what she was thinking.:headscrat

If that's the garage I can only imagine what the inside of the house looks like, this is beautiful!

Thanks for sharing, well done!

Looks like good progress. I really like the darker colors for the bottom of the walls. Will be neat with the post the same.

OMG, have you been hiding in the bushes, because that pretty much happens everyday when I get home.

Thank you. Like I said before, there was a TON of though and years of prep. for this project.

The red will really break up the two dark colors and tie it all together. Also with the dark on the bottom, if you put hand on the walls, it will not show.

Unreal! Have you ever thought about going into construction :)? I really like the siding. You have caused me to rethink a lot of things about mine. Someone may have mentioned this already, but if you do have an open house, it would be kool to have folks drive their customs to it. I'm sure they will anyway. It's kinda like the old Mac Davis song...I can't wait til tomorrow, cause it gets better lookin each day.

And there you had to go and do it didn't you?!?!

Post more pictures up of your "little" garage!!!!

The colours on the wall look really nice and really break up the huge wall areas. The post will look excellent in the same colour scheme which you can continue onto your black lift when it arrives. :bounce:

Great progress. I actually like the white / black / gray combo without the red. Lots of great ideas have been incorporated into this design, so I'm sure the addition of the red stripe will be no different. Looks great.

Well, sorry to say guys, but I got home too late tonight and all of my pics turned out pretty bad since it was getting pretty dark and rainy, so I am going to wait until tomorrow to post up better pics.

Today, they got all the doors trimmed out and all of the siding up on the dormer, which looks ah, ok I guess, just different is all. At this point, I really don't care, since I am going to be spending all my time IN the garage and not outside.

The HVAC guys dropped off the air handler and set it in place in the closet.

The painter finished up the red strip and got the post painted with the red and grey.

The landscapers got all the grading done and seeded and strawed the yard.

I also picked up a really nice sink on Craigslist today to go into the counter. It is nice and big, and 304 SS. It measures 32 x 19 x 12, nice and big.

This weekend, I hope to get my other two hose reals hung toward the back side of the garage near where the work benches will be.

And by Weds of next week, I should have full power to the garage.

RaceDeck sent me an e-mail today, so I should have my floor next week sometime too.

Again, sorry no pics, but the clouds and sun beat me to it.

Well today I got the garage cleaned up from the week, and moved most of all the trash out and stacked up all the contractor's ladders out side for him to pick up on Monday and take back to his storage.

My Friend Tyler came over and help he hang the other two hose reals toward the back of the garage.

Once all the painting is done and trim work, I plan on scubbing the floor and getting it ready for the RaceDeck and all the benches and shelves I plan on building.

Here are the pics from Friday and Today:

First the Grading:

Side:

Looking from the side up the back hill:

The back Hill:

SANY1086.jpg

The Line of Rocks that came out of the yard that are now blocking the "construction" road from the lot behind me, so that no one tries to drive down the hill any more:

SANY1087.jpg

SANY1085.jpg

Looking down the other side of the back on the high side of the garage:

SANY1084.jpg

The siding is also finished too:

SANY1082.jpg

So, for the most part, all the stuff on the outside is completely finished, just a couple of minor things.

Now, what most have been waiting on, the inside. Here are some pics of the Red stripe and the hose reels that we hung today too:

SANY1106.jpg

Here are the Hose reels that we put on, and they are right on line the ones in front, kinda OCD like really, but I would not be able to do it any other way: (The Mounting looks off center, but the reels line up, but I need to get into the floor joist to hold them, so that is why they look off)

SANY1108.jpg

SANY1109.jpg

SANY1110.jpg

The HVCA unit set in place, ready to hook up:

SANY1094.jpg

My killer CraigsList score on Friday, my huge sink, 32 x 19 x 12, 304 SS for $150, and it goes for over $800 new. He guy had bought several years ago, moved from two houses and was finished moving it around, so He sold it and I got a great deal:

SANY1095.jpg

Well, there you go, hope you liked.

The inside looks nice.

I take it, you've had people try to drive down the hill ? It would have looked nice if you wouls have arranged the rocks in "J" shape and basically made a small retaining wall with them.

Angle at the bottom of the downspot coming off the upper roof part concerns me...

Why is that?

The inside looks nice.

Yes, we have had some. The rocks run the property line and in the spring we plan on spreading them out a little more, but I did not want to loose and of my yard by doing a shape of and kind, so we just put it in a straight line.

thats an incredable shop. is the space above for an office??

Thanks. The space above is open storage right now, but is roughed in to be a one bedroom apartment, for my son, who is special needs, or for my mom who is getting order. My Dad just passed away this past March, so mom is by herself in my childhood home, and we (my brother and sister) don't really know what her plans are though. She is only 67, so she is still pretty young, but I wanted to plan for the future. If no one needs it, then I will just keep it unfinish or turn it into a big game room/Party room, heck Never know.

I really like the color scheme. That red stripe really set it off. The fix will do me for a couple days. Thanks for posting.

That's not OCD, that's attention to detail. We wouldn't expect any less of you.

Looking really good in there. That's going to be a great space to work and relax.

What about this?

pole.jpg

:bounce:

Yeah, I thought about that, but I am afaid that the white will get too dirty being close to the working bay and everyone leaning on it.

I never had planned on the painting the red and grey on the pole, but the painter thought it would look neat, so we did it. My friend Tyler and I just talked about that today though.
